Same so have i although harrowing in the extreme for them all, I believe they will come to the only verdicts that fit with the evidence. Guilty on all counts for her and guilty on all but the salt poisoning for him (although I'm not convinced he didn't know or participate) it just wasn't proved beyond reasonable doubt imo.

This is one of the facts that does it for me.

"Judge Wall reiterates Hughes' position that he only made his admissions in police interviews after the prison journey with Tustin, because he was 'trying to protect Emma so our child would be protected'."

As far as he knew, at that stage, before police even knew about the shaking injury or the poisoning, there was nothing to protect Emma from.

"In response to a jury question Hughes says he was 'not aware at all' Arthur had been salt poisoned when he was in the police van with Tustin."

"Further on in the conversation he added: "I expect to be charged with murder tonight. I will get charged on it."

The summing up was so difficult to read through, I admit I skipped most of it because it makes me feel sick to my stomach what Arthur went through at the hands of these monsters. There is no remorse, no shame, no grief, nothing. It’s as if they are glad Arthur is dead so they don’t have to deal with him anymore. And shame on those who witnessed or suspected the abuse Arthur was subjected to and did nothing. Shame on social services and all who failed Arthur too.

I just hope both are found guilty of murder and that ET ends up in the same prison as Arthur’s mother… MOO

This entire case is horrific and the nerve of them to even plead not guilty with all the evidence that is stacked against them is disgusting. They should hang their heads and never see the light of day again IMO

What also angers me is that if both are ever released into society again they may well get new identities and housing and be allowed to start a new life where no one knows them. While poor Arthur never even saw his 7th birthday, never had chance to become a teenager, adult, get married, have children.they stole his childhood and his whole future in this world. He never had a chance to escape their evil clutches.

Jury sent home for the night
The jury is called back into court, but only to be formally sent home for the day.

Judge Wall adjourns the case until 10am tomorrow morning when their deliberations will continue.

We will resume our coverage then and let you know of any significant developments as they happen here first.

Thank you for following again today

They are both beyond redemption - and I am sad to say this.

They are just shells without finer feelings, just basic ones.

Maybe, if they were given therapy and help in childhood when there was still a chance to reform them, Arthur would be alive.

Now, we can only hope they will be separated from society for a long time.

I was out shopping with my little boy, and I saw noticed a stall when they have all different child names for Christmas elf books, the first name i saw was the name Arthur, Arthur's Elf. I Choked up a little.
I've followed this from day one, and I look forward to justice, I trust the jury. ET and TH they can rot.

Do we know the composition of the jury? Like how many men and how many women?

That video of Arthur, such a sweet boy.

Thanks @ChloLo …. You know what this type of question does to me…. o_O

Birmingham Mail have not stated the male/female ratio on their feed.

Well, I guess the principle behind the Jury is that they are the "vox populi".
They represent the whole society - women, men, all ranks, the rich, the poor.
Their decision will mirror the state of society.

Jury selection is supposed to be random, but sometimes that means an unusual panel will be created. In the Star Hobson case, 11/12, and now 10/11 (one juror left for health reasons) on the panel are male, and one of the key points in determining the outcome for one defendant involves a menstrual toilet break and a missing used sanitary pad.

Sorry this is just beyond belief. The hairdresser saw and heard all of this! The day before he died another adult saw Arthur in this state and did nothing?!!! Sorry have I misunderstood? What kind of country is this?

The most heartbreaking thing of all
how can you ignore this state of affairs

Life is full of surprises :)

Re this case Jury
Today I think they have just chosen a spokesman and maybe did a quick survey on which points they all agree, and which ones need discussion.

Reading all of it again makes me physically ill. Imagine for a second that none of this needed to happen.

he could’ve been sent to his grans house weeks ago , Getting three meals and snacks. Wrapped in love every second, Conversations with his uncles who by all accounts were more loving than his father ever was. He would watch tv football Peppa pig paw patrol WHATEVER he desired. Slept on a comfy bed. He called names like darling sweetheart instead of how he was referred to

then to have none of that given to him due to sheer spite …. That is what’s gut wrenching.

that there was a wonderful alternate life so close for this little prince

I am finding that hard to deal with.

I’m expecting the verdict late Friday. I think there is one person the jury will debate about for quite some time. The other one seems to be a slam dunk guilty on all charges so won’t take much time. All my opinion only.
