Im afraid that was their plan.
Why else to hide Granny's presents?
He knew nothing about lockdown, and didnt understand why grandparents didnt visit.
Oh god, its too much isnt it, the poor little fella must have been so upset about that. The more you find out about this case the more heartbreaking it gets

This woman should have been treated in mental hospital.
I wouldn't give her a pot plant to look after, let alone children!!!!!

I wonder if the school phoned TH to do safe and well checks on Arthur during the lock down because my children's schools did, even asking to speak to my children to make sure they were OK. They did this about once a week.

I think this varied. My eldest child’s school called once every fortnight. I never received even an email from my youngest child’s school.

This was also before the zoom/Microsoft teams/online interactive learning took hold so realistically, nobody saw Arthur other than ET and TH. I don’t know how much difference a phone check would’ve made but I would’ve thought that if Arthur had flagged for extra support emotionally eg learning of his mothers situation, he should have been offered a place in school as he would have fallen under the ‘vulnerable’ category. I know my SEN child (ASD) was offered a place but he was so anxious about covid for the first 9 months that he wouldn’t even venture out into our garden for fear of it.

And her ex saying she was an amazing mother, what a load of bull, he has obviously manipulated by her too.

I think all men were manipulated by her, including her step father. I often wonder why her mother didn’t take the stand…

I think ET has spent the majority of her life playing the victim and damsel in distress and that’s how she hooks these men in.

She’s played the victim since she got up on the stand. How unfair that she has been charged with murdering Arthur when it was him that did this to himself….*sarcasm*

I must have missed the info about her stepdad!
Do you mean he spoke in court???

Most definately, she is only feeling sadness for herself, any time she has cried on the stand it was poor me crying nothing to do with Arthur.

I dont think her and her Mum got on, i think when she got pregnant she had to move out or something along those lines.

Also in this report it’s states -

Emma Tustin's stepfather also said in court yesterday that Arthur was banned from playing with other children when the family visited their home.

John Dutton, the stepfather of murder accused Emma Tustin, said instead that six-year-old Arthur was made to sit at a table during visits.

He said: "He sat and stared at the wall. He wouldn't move. He would stay like that for hours."

Mr Dutton said it was on the orders of Arthur's dad Thomas Hughes, adding: "It was always Tom. He said he had been naughty, playing up."

Stepmother told cops Arthur faced 'spiralling abuse' from his dad

Wasn't there doubts mentioned in court as to if the step father actually rang social services? There was no record of the call

I think it transpired that it wasn’t actually step father that made the call, but was in fact ET mother.

Ah ok, im glad they did something. Did social services ever follow up on it?
Wasnt there a case in the US where the social services people were tried in court for neglect, would love to see that happen here and the policemen who didnt act. Makes my blood boil

I guess things were chaotic due to Covid/Lockdown.
Not that I justify their negligence!!!!

Im trying to look back now to find out. Between this and Star Hobson’s murder, I cannot keep track of what players did what. Hers is another harrowing case happening at the same time - same concerns from family, same SS and police interventions.

Gabriel Fernandez you might be thinking of? I believe the case against the social workers was dropped if I’m not mistaken.

I know how you feel, it’s absolutely harrowing how anyone can hurt a child. It goes beyond the realm of belief that a child can have so many people intervene and raise concerns yet it’s dismissed very frequently. In a lot of child abuse cases you will find out that the family were known, or had some dealings with services beforehand. And this continues to happen.

Yes i read a little bit about the Star Hobson case, but had to stop as it was too much to take in alongside Arthurs case. Looks like another very tragic case.
Gabriel Fernandez, thats it, i couldnt remember what happened with regards to the social workers.
It really is, its so hard to understand how people can be that cruel to a little child
A friend of mine is a social worker in Ireland and said there is alot of red tape, making it very hard to take kids off parents even when you know full well they are in danger but it doesnt even look like the social workers had the cop on to see there was even an issue with Arthur, doesnt make sense

Yes I think it was probably different for each school and I think you're right, what difference would it have made ? He would probably if been to scared to tell someone over the phone about the abuse he was suffering.

This is a sharp contrast to ET accounts of Arthur hitting out and swearing at her. She contradicts herself, ET step father's account doesn't paint a picture of an aggressive, misbehaved little boy, more like a terrified, neglected little boy to me.

I think in Stars case, bio parent may well get the lesser charge. I don’t see that happening in this case at all if I’m honest, not with what I’ve read from TH police interviews. But anything is possible I guess.

I do believe the charges against were dropped in Gabriel’s case.

I actually have a friend that is a social worker also and she reports the same. The aim is to offer support and guidance so that family’s can stay together, it’s believed that it’s best to keep children with their biological parents. There’s 3 levels to their intervention - early help, child in need and child protection. And each comes with a checklist that the parent/parents must satisfy before they are deescalated from whichever plan they are on. If they consistently fail their targets, the child will be escalated up through the 3 levels. If they fail the checklist in child protection, that’s where children are removed. This only happens if a referral is deemed as valid though, and from what my friend told me, a lot of their checks regarding referrals, were majority carried out via phone. So for example - Mrs X reports Mrs Z to SS claiming Mrs X is concerned about screaming children in Mrs Z house, (MASH) or SS will call Mrs Z, relay their information, Mrs Z states that it’s her toddler screaming when having their hair washed, SS deem it feasible and NFA.
