Aw yeah I know you are not defending him. It just baffles me how someone could have a 6 year relationship with their son and let another persons opinion overshadow theirs and not only that then proceed to torture that person. I just think he had to have known what was going on was utterly wrong to its core. Even if he had her looking over his shoulder the whole time. Like if you wanted her yo think you were carrying out all thecso called discipline when she could see, did he not ever take the opportunity to show Arthur some love when she wasnt looking. I dont think he did, if he had I might have more understanding of him
He said he'd sit with Arthur in the hall, he asked ET when the punishment would end. He would 'ask' ET if he could do things with Arthur, and she'd say no. I understand exactly what you're saying. Would you wait until your partner wasn't looking to show love to your own child? I don't think so. I won't ever understand why he let things get to the point his son died, but I think I understand how it did.

So there is new evidence?
How interesting!

There’s no new evidence. Just that the evidence in this trial cannot be given without ET being present.

We don’t want her filing an appeal stating she wasn’t party to her own trial now do we….?

There does seem to be more evidence coming up but trial is adjourned until tomorrow because of health concerns for ET. Has she suddenly grown a conscience?!

Either TH is well rehearsed, or this is his truth. I find some of it plausible.
Me too.
I see we're on the same lines about the conscience!

I've just caught up, I've really struggled reading this and debated stopping several times. I cannot put into words my hatred for ET, she is the most evil person I've heard of in my life. I really hope she gets a full life order and that the ladies in prison get to find out exactly what she has done.

She will find someone to manipulate in jail. MOO.

I agree with you.

Me too.

Also, ET kept up a constant bombardment of messages/calls and general complaining to him - the phrase which springs to mind is "relentless" - and this clearly shows he has a problem setting boundaries...which, unfortunately, makes him an ideal target for narcissistic abuse. I'm sure he would desperately want to be able to go back and do things differently...I can't help thinking she wouldn't

Buying ice cream for himself and ET on sweltering hot day while Arthur was watching standing isolated.

If this isnt malicious cruelty, then what is?

Such acts occured every day.
They were much worse than actual beating.
They crushed the boy's spirit.

I dont believe in TH's repentant tune.

Hopefully she's not trying to get herself sectioned.

It sounds like TH was seriously intimidated by ET. I've been in manipulative relationships and understand the fear of "setting off" the narcissist...you lose the ability to function properly and think for yourself. I once said to one of them that it was like walking across a room full of tin tacks, in the dark and blindfold. I'd actually resigned myself to the fact he would probably end up killing me. I look back and wonder how on earth I let that happen but at the time I was so absorbed in trying to not do anything to rock the boat I honestly didn't see what was happening
This! I was thinking the same thing. I was raised by a narc and have an ex who was one. Sometimes for your own survival, you just go along with them out of fear. They brainwash you into believing your world will fall apart without them or they threaten you when you try to leave. I do believe she had a lot of control over him. He probably shut down a part of himself to survive.

But do you mean you would torture or kill somebody to appease your tormentor?

Unforgiveable, its those acts of cruelty i cant get out of my head, no excuse manipulated or not. Pushing him away when he came into the kitchen to have some of his fish and chips is another. Play fighting and then when Arthur raised his hand to him, calling him a c, there are so many acts of cruelty TH just didnt have to add to the already horrid circumstances Arthur lived through.

Right he still deserves what’s coming to him!

Yes. I'm not sure what happens to the trial if that happens.
I can only remember what happened with this monster who slit his wrists during his trial - I'm not saying we know that she has tried to harm herself but it does seem like a possibility with her history:

"The jurors who convicted Billingham were not told he had cut his wrists in his cell partway through his trial. Billingham underwent surgery after the apparent attempt to end his own life in the early hours of 21 September – a day after his trial was shown CCTV footage of Mylee in a shop on the night he killed her.

The defendant looked at the floor and covered his eyes with his hands as the two-minute video was shown to jurors on the third day of his trial. He then failed to appear in court until the following week, when jurors were told to disregard the bandages on his lower arms and were given no details of how he had come by his injuries.

In legal argument that could not be reported until the end of the trial, the defence barrister David Mason QC said seeing CCTV of Mylee had badly affected Billingham, who spent four days in hospital.

On the morning Billingham was admitted to the Queen Elizabeth hospital from HMP Birmingham, Mason told the court his client had experienced “some sort of breakdown” overnight, during which he was injured.

Billingham was eventually brought back to court on Tuesday 25 September, arriving in a taxi with a police escort as his wounds meant he could not be handcuffed or placed in a prison van.

After Billingham was assessed by a psychiatrist as being fit to instruct his legal team, the trial continued."

William Billingham guilty of murdering eight-year-old daughter

Edited to say he has since died in prison.

No I do not believe I would ever do that. I can see how you may have to turn off a bit. Maybe tell yourself it’s not as bad as it really is. Maybe try to give your abuser the benefit of the doubt. With TH, he saw his sons cracked lips and had him sleeping on the floor. I feel like there’s a line you don’t cross no matter what and he crossed that line. I do think it is worth noting that he was manipulated and abused by Emma but still no excuse to allow such horrors to happen to your son.

Thank you.
That is what I mean - the line was crossed WILLINGLY.
