having mostly followed US cases, I’d normally expect to hear chatter & gossip … in particular IMO I’d like to know if the accused has a history of violence, preying on women, impulsive & reckless behavior etc.
Stuff like this, which would be known to his acquaintances etc, often finds its way into US media right away, esp in a notorious crime. (Take a look at the coverage of the Murdaugh situation for ex!!

)
But I’ve always heard that UK media is relatively hands-off when it comes to reporting on trials. That made me curious if what feels here like a paucity of info was-
a) normal for the UK;
b) beyond what’s normal for the UK cuz this crime is secretly thought to be extra-explosive and/or problematic; or even
c) the new normal for the UK, as media outlets adjust to the online world’s moving into every inch of space in todays world
