'He panicked'

Ms Heer said: "She (Jenkinson) said she had snatched the knife from Eddie's hand and stabbed Brianna repeatedly.
"She said that Eddie had thrown Brianna to the floor and stabbed her three or four times. Then he panicked and said he didn't want to kill her so Scarlett carried on."

Prosecutor addresses judge

Prosecutor Deanna Heer KC is now addressing the judge. She says that Jenkinson confessed to stabbing Brianna during the incident in the park, during an interview with mental health professions following the trial.

Jenkinson was 'excited by what she was doing'

Asked how many times she had stabbed Brianna, Jenkinson said 'a lot'.
"She said that she had stabbed Brianna enough times to kill her but she was satisfied and excited by what she was doing," Ms Heer says.

Is this even true? How do you stab someone repeatedly without getting so much as a speck of blood on you?
I feel like she’s lying and just wanting the notoriety

Looking at the further info at that link, this is completely in character with what we've seen of them both through the trial, IMO. Both took part, but Scarlett was the driving force behind things, to the extent of taking over when Eddie backed off. If he stabbed Brianna only three or four times, that means Scarlett stabbed her as many as twenty five.

Can't say that I believe SJ's 'confession', given the difference in how much blood was on her compared to ER. My opinion is that, given her obsessions, she's wanting to claim some "credit" (in her eyes).

I feel the same. Shes obsessed with serial killers and wants the fame. The evidence doesn't corroborate what she’s saying at all.

Echo also doing a live blog - will put the link up here in case there's any more info but I think MEN tends to be better coverage

Please let them get very long sentences!
Evil pair.

After the trial judge allowed the media to name the 'warped' pair, it can now be revealed for the first time that Jenkinson met their 'trusting' victim when she was moved to the 'inclusion unit' for troubled children which Brianna attended.

The decision to place them together – which came after Jenkinson was excluded from her school for passing drugs to fellow pupils, leaving one in hospital – happened just weeks before Brianna's murder.

Brianna Ghey's killers. both 16, are named as pair are sentenced

I really have to wonder about the wisdom of placing the two types of vulnerable children together: those who are a risk to other children, and those like Brianna who are only a risk to themselves.

Blood evidence is like this. Sometimes, people get absolutely covered, other times, they don't, even when you'd think they should be. There are many factors as to why this happens. It's not easily broken down into 'if this, then that', which is why the expert witness stood her ground at trial and refused to be pushed by the defense to say that the attacker would be bloody.

It's so much sadder than I thought to see their pictures released. They're just kids :( Don't know how kids so young could do something so unthinkable.

Even the witnesses testimony doesn’t corroborate it though.

Ratcliffe had competed in World Kickboxing Championships

Eddie Ratcliffe was trained in the combat sport and even competed in the World Kickboxing Championships in Jamaica in 2018.
A school newsletter following his return noted: "Although a physical sport, he doesn't get hurt as training involves only sparring or 'light hitting'.
"There were 50 competitors in his age group at the competition in Jamaica, and he deserves huge congratulations for coming second, losing in the final to a German competitor. The world championships are in Cork next year, hopefully he will go one better than this time!"
Ratcliffe - whose mother works in the creative industries - had passed eight GCSEs and wanted to study microbiology at university.

It won't have been considered. The 'decision' will have just been to send them to the nearest PRU by default after they've been removed from their mainstream school.

The PRU system seems to massively overlook this aspect. The students there have such a wide range of needs. The same school will have kids with autism, kids neglected at home, kids with violent tenancies, and so on all in the same classroom. The teachers try hard but it's a very difficult job.

I feel for the murderer's parents. To know your children did such evil, to look at Esther and Peter and Alisha and know that your children caused their agony... beyond bearable.

I too am not sure I believe her either.

I didn't think there were witnesses to the actual stabbing. Just the two defendants standing over the body.

Wonder if any of the killers' parents are there ?
