If my memory isn't wrong, she had an appointment with her hairstylist short before the "incident". I remember googling her hairstylist, who was relatively near her home.
So, if her mother did know the new haircolor and her hairstylist would have known, why did police search for Claudia with an unsuitable photo? Did they like it so much like you, pope, who will never forget her face until his end? ;) They had a choice; at least they could have explained, Claudia's haircolor would be darker than before. Or they could have used another photo of her: younger, narrower face, dark hair. Or they could have retouched the pic re the new haircolor with help of the hairstylist. IMO
ETA: Why don't the CCTV stills look like she had darker hair?

Your right @FromGermany her hair stylist was local he was Nick Brignall he was stylist at Harry Nicholas Salon Colliergate York

Police say pictures used in Claudia Lawrence hunt are accurate

Claudia’s stylist, Nick Brignell, of the Harry Nicholas salon, in Colliergate, told Sky News he coloured her hair using a darker dye than usual, three-and-a-half weeks before she disappeared.

Missing chef Claudia no longer blonde

To help jog memories they issued photos showing her with light-coloured locks.
But last night her hair stylist revealed she had gone dark weeks before she vanished from her home in York.
Nick Brignell said he helped her become a brunette and Claudia, who disappeared on March 18, might have made her hair even darker herself.
He said: “I know that she would colour it herself using a warm chestnut dye between visits.”
Claudia’s pals said she had not been blonde since last year.

Thanks this is v interesting. 3 and a half weeks would not produce too much root growth. You would maybe just start to see any greys. There must have been a reason she wanted to look immaculate

Females know 100s more colours than us men
This picture here as a man i would call it blonde. Full stop

yes, id call it blonde to light brown....ie not a really yellow blonde but definitely the blonde side of brown

hong kong...I know what you mean about the growth, but I. wouldn't say from that that she wanted to look immaculate....for that id say go to your hairdresser a day or 2 before meeting someone

even if shed lightened her hair the evening before she failed to turn up for work, presumably only the perp would have known this....if they're telling the truth, the last time anyone who knew her had seen her, shed have had dark hair....so why didn't they say this to the police when the photo was used

  • #368
I know this is just circumstantial, but this hair colour thing leads me more and more to the idea that someone in her close circle is the perp, or is protecting the perp.

according to their accounts, the last time any of them saw her, her hair would have been dark....regardless of what colour it was when she disappeared....so the photo would have been inaccurate, as far as they were concerned.

they might have told the police and been ignored, but you'd think at least one of them would have had the gumption to tell a newspaper...I can honestly say id have been telling as many media outlets as possible that people shouldn't rule out information about a similar woman with dark hair...I won't put it any more strongly. because of. the hair dye, although, as previ0usly mentioned, certain items were missing which you'd expect to find if shed been colouring her own hair

It was probably her friends from the pub who provided the original photo which would be the latest good quality photo !
I believe it was hard getting CL to pose for the camera.
Also people here keep insisting she was avoiding the NH .
I don’t think the police made a mistake going with the original photo.
Colour of the hair is minor when you compare with height build and cloths the MISSING person looked like .

But who would have known the exact clothing except the person, who disappeared her??

I agree. I seem to recall a bowl of what looked like perxocide mix (which from memory was purple coloured). These browns would have been either brown or red, not purple.

Looking at these products here, it looks like a packet a bleach was used and perhaps also some from one other packet. The items at the top left hand corner , look to be eyelash dye.

Yes the strength of the Jerome Russel would be high lift! Very light blonde? The brown looks too light and agree eyebrow/lash dye. I will find the street poster with Claudia with dark hair I believe was put out fairly quickly and changed as have it saved somewhere, Though in uni cctv her hair looked pretty dark. Imo if Claudia used a hairdresser regularly then the chances of opting for a quick home diy is less likely x

Bronze / gold possibly Jens packet left prior moving out, as her colour appeared to be similar golden bronze than light blonde at the time.

im not ruling out her colouring someone else's hair or it having been staged...in fact, in my own mind, quite the opposite, but I can't completely rule out the idea that she was doing her own hair, either, so have to bear in mind for any arguments. that she might have had lighter coloured. hair when she disappeared

popejohn....yes, age and build etc are more important, but, quite honestly, unless the circumstances were unusual, id. have. ruled out a. dark haired woman....and I still dont understand why it didn't occur to the people who knew her not to make sure that the public were well aware that she could have had dark hair

Does anyone know how the dyes were in situ? It seems that the photos of the dyes, etc, were placed in those positions by the police, in order for photos to be taken. We have heard from JL that CL wasn't the tidiest of people, so I just wonder if these items had been left on the bathroom shelf and not put away? It would account for a lack of gloves and towel, which would be pretty mucky and needed when dying your hair.

Do you mean thrown away?
There is no doubt the dye was mixed and although there is an unused pair of gloves on display, there is more than one dye kit so she would have had a spare pair. Plus there is the mixture in the tub with brush. The lack of towel or used gloves is a mystery. I just don't think you would keep used hair dye, or especially peroxide, in your bathroom as the smell can be quite overpowering. It's quite frustrating not having all the information e.g. do police think it was fresh? I thought I read somewhere (at the time) that the packages were found in the bin but I can't find this info anywhere.
