sometimes I find the reasoning by the police so thin as to be almost insulting....but I suspect thats because they're withholding information. for example, they say that alley man is a local because he seems to know the streets....he may just be someone who has stayed with claudia or someone in that area a few times before. I dont know whether hes a local or not, but I dont think the logic holds up from the cctv weve seen

Perhaps they are 'guiding' the public?

I think you're right yozz, but imo, the jealous ordinary bloke boyfriend theory is no more logical than her disappearance being in some way tied to the criminal activities of those boyfriends....please explain to me why its more. logical

can't do links but no doubt kir can find the article in the York press. where it talks about drugs. gangs kidnapping. people connected with their rivals

Drugs are all over the country sadly.

haha the dream was nothing special. I dreamt I was talking to a decisive about her disappearance and the media where there and we had to run and I think I told one of them to piss off or something and then I was worried I’d be reported on for swearing haha the madness of the dream world.

So come on which actresses to play Claudia realistically?

Can we please stick to ‘ facts ‘ as reported by police and newspaper articles .
Her phone pinged in the Acombe area weeks before she disappeared and not necessarily at the Acombe pub . In fact the Acombe employees said they have not seen her for awhile.

I think this is the one you mean @cortina
Cocaine use by York’s middle classes may be worsening county lines drug problem

Cortina, I have to say I rest my case then. As I knew. No evidence for drugs. No go. Whereas the police and locals have made it known she slept around hence pissing people off who would then in turn wish her harm. Don’t look for stuff that isn’t there. Yes people in circle may have taken drugs. People in her friendship group may have believed in alien abduction does that mean she’s been taken by little green men. Stick to what’s there that’s all we can do. I hope you don’t think I’m having a go at you because I’m not.

Completely different line here but I had a dream about the case the other night, must have been lingering in my subconscious before bed.

Also, if they ever made a dramatisation out of it who do you think would play Claudia? Jim Broadbent would be her father I suspect...
Ann Hathaway !

as far as I know, there's no record of a boyfriend threatening her and the police have never said that its specifically boyfriend related, so we could just as well say ignore that...which we aren't doing.
A witness did report seeing her being bundled roughly into a car though.
And Claudia's father admitted there had been 2 public incidents involving wives or partners who had verbally attacked CL for leading their other halves astray...one incident being fairly close to the time of her disappearance, according to PL.

What if alleyman did spend the evening with Claudia and the morning footage is simply him collecting something for work/dropping something off or whatever in H Place, but another person saw him and confronted Claudia ?? .....jealousy/rage

I think we are wasting our time on here .The police said the investigation is closed. The top men have been taken away on other cases
Ok if someone wants to confess or the body is stubbled upon or if miracle of miracles Claudia should turn up alive then they’ll reopen it !
I think the police ignored a vital clue from the first few weeks and months and as one of the four have said “ they invested too much time” on the wrong people and now too embarrassed to look anywhere else !

arcade fire...yes, she seems to have been bundled into a car....no evidence what the motive was though..could have been a boyfriend, maybe not....and even if she had a boyfriend, or several, who were inclined towards violence, that doesn't mean any action against claudia was motivated just by sexual jealousy...

I think you're right with Broadbent as her father....claudia herself...mmm....what. about Sheridan smith...cant say she really looks like her, but she's good and could transform herself easily enough.

sunshine 77....yes, your theory is possible, but so are all of our theories

I have. a nasty feeling the police messed. it up from the beginning and are reasonably content with how things are now...I think the current team were frustrated they couldn't get any. further, but cant or feel they cant be. blamed now its stalled.

sometimes I think were wasting our time, but you never know...

The police dogs would have flushed out any evidence of drugs !

And does the results of the searches for drugs and other form part of the evidence they compiled for the CPS case and thats why they are not available to the public

Possible but evidence of drugs ( if any )does not mean Evidence of murder .

no it doesn't popejohn....but the difference is that im not stuck on just one possible motive...im not saying drugs are definitely the reason...there are many possibilities, and there could be a few motives mixed together...just dont close your minds

Actually the case is not 'closed' PJ thats the whole problem its in 'reactive mode' so effectively the pause button been pressed until someone comes forward with evidence to provide proof of what happened to Claudia.
And so here by lies our problem because so long as that case remains open and it can indefinately the files to it will not be accessible to the public.

After 7 years or less an application for a declaration death can be applied for by:-
  • spouse or civil partner
  • parent
  • child
  • sibling
If none of these apply, you’ll need to prove to the court that you have enough of a connection to the missing person (‘sufficient interest’), for example you’re a distant relative and you have a birth certificate to prove it.
Get a declaration of presumed death

Presumption of Death Act 2013 (taken from wiki page)
In February–March 2013, the Presumption of Death Act 2013 was passed to simplify this process.

In England and Wales, if the authorities believe there should be an inquest, the local coroner files a report. This may be done to help a family receive a death certificate that may bring some closure. An inquest strives to bring any suspicious circumstances to light. The coroner then applies to the Secretary of State for Justice, under the Coroners Act 1988 section 15, for an inquest with no body. The seven years rule only applies in the High Court of Justice on the settlement of an estate. According to a spokesman for the Ministry of Justice, the number of requests received each year is fewer than ten, but few of these are refused. Without a body, an inquest relies mostly on evidence provided by the police, and whether senior officers believe the missing person is dead.

Ray Galloway said that police were treating Claudia's case as a suspected murder 5 weeks into the investigation 11 years on correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know an application has not been made.
It does make you wonder....
