Wait, what? Not given a lift on the 18th, despite this having featured in reconstructions made in association with NYP and the colleague who reportedly gave her the lift being named at the time? If so that would immediately torpedo the “missing 15 minutes,” with the 3.05pm sighting simply becoming the end of her walk home.

I was interested in Claudia's journey's to and from work in the days leading up to her disappearance. I was paricularly interested in the weds journey home as it offered footage at Melrosegate PO where an item was said to have been posted. A lift, and a possible errand after arriving home, and a sighting by the chidminder, I was hoping to get the times and sequence of these events and times confirmed and also where Claudia lift picked her up and dropped her off, so took the opportunity to ask cold case. I was told that Claudia walked home that day and didnt receive a lift before or after posting the item and the time she left the Uni and arrived home after being seen by the childminder bore this out.
I also asked about if she was seen on cctv on Thurs on her journery to work, and was told she was not seen on any cctv on Thurs the last sighting of her was weds.

I have always found Cold Case team to be open and helpful with any queries I have made. If it was an error on their part I am sure a correction would have been forthcoming.

@shadwell There is no question Claudia reached home on the 18th March 2009 after work. what happened on the way home I feel is not of any real relevance to the outcome. Yes I understand we all look at it differently - some want to micro analyse every single footstep - some want to jump to event. Perhaps there is a happy medium.... if you look at the dialogue of Claudia's conversations on the evening of the 18th I suspect she was at home and considering walking to work in the morning, for some reason she must of given the impression to her parents and friend she feared for her safety. then at 8.23pm all signs of life ceased. A little later 9.01pm the bus cctv caught two vehicles outside her house and as we know there was activity the man I identified walking to the front car (unidentified) and others perhaps even Claudia in the SUV. This is a key moment and i feel if we can identify these vehicles we are well on our way to a conclusion. Who are in them, who owns them and what car is that in front.

??

“Claudia was last sighted at around 3.05pm on Wednesday 18 March at the junction of Heworth Road and East Parade walking back towards her home on Heworth Road.”

Disappearance of Claudia

just click this link 14.47 it says she arrived home - there is no 3.05pm so it must be a contradiction - not sure which is right.

With respect her mother said that everything was normal when she spoke to her daughter that evening they spoke about tv programme and small talk .... any concerns about her walking to work would have been brought up weeks before and not the very last day !

@Bohill can I ask If Claudia had been given a lift on the Thurs morn would the most convenient place for her to have been dropped off to walk on to Goldricke College canteen be the place where the two people were seen arguing on University road.

Seperately the location of the similar looking rucksack .. in 2009 was there car parking or access like a wider paved area where a vehicle could have been driven up alongside.

Hmm. So Linda Chapman lied (in some detail) about seeing Claudia Lawrence on the afternoon of the 18th?

Interesting. What was her motivation?

Distraught friends fear missing university chef Claudia Lawrence has been abducted
There is no reason for Linda to lie surely?
Also from this article we learn ” Claudia was in High Spirts” when she talked to her parents and obviously we know this from her parents !
And no concern... on her last day on earth ( most probably) having to walk by herself to uni early in the morning.. she had done it for ‘weeks’

Interesting. So the cold case team accepts the childminder sighting, but denies the lift. And (according to Google maps) the timing stacks up. No lift puts her at the East Parade/Heworth Road junction at around 3.05pm, but with the lift it’s necessary to add a further 15 minute trip out. Discard the lift and we can discard the “missing 15 minutes.”

How the original inquiry came to get a central plank of the Wednesday timeline quite so wrong is another question.
