It said in one of the articles there was a biotech campus there presumably staff rotate around campus so could have done into contact with at some point. I’ve never believed the halliwell theories but he was a keen fisherman…

Someone must have told the police something, not suddenly going to spend and arm and a leg on manpower in a 12 year old case on a hunch
But Police have stated its one of several lines of enquiry.

It’s nowhere near the university or a college campus. One end of the footpath is next to DEFRA, the other end is a stables and the fishing lakes and woodland are at the stables end of the path (albeit 5 minutes or so walk along)
Where did Claudia keep her horse, was it near Malton?

Hi all, new to this thread having followed other threads on Websleuths.

I’ve been meaning to come and have a look but with the news today, thought I’d finally do it!

Unfortunately I don’t have the time to go through 15 threads worth of information, but can anyone point me in the direction of a good “cheat sheet” to this case as such please?
Thanks!

There are several stables up there and the gravel pits are on a bridle path. It is likely she had her horses in one around there as it’s halfway between York and Malton and really easy access from her house.

They are fishing lakes, they were having an environmental survey last week and have since been drained- police turned up today and have closed all the roads.
It’s been confirmed they found a body
They found a body???

Potentially someone who knew her from the stables then…

Ruth Bullock has just posted on here saying they have found a body I can see nothing about that on-line?!?!?

This is a pretty major search operation and the police have invited the press along. It *feels* like the police are expecting a breakthrough.

Oh god it’s so terrible. On the one hand fantastic it’s her and she is found but the other side is it’s just so painful for her family etc

Where is the information printed that a body has been found?

  • #973
I'm not seeing anything online about a body being found. Does anyone have a link please?

I don’t see how Ruth can say a body has been found literally no info for that I think it’s stirring

Maybe police arrested someone for an unrelated but serious crime, and they are after a bit of a plea bargain by telling the police something they know about claudia

(a) When did this site stop being a functioning gravel pit and become a fishing ground?

(b) What kind of person - or profession - is likely to be familiar with gravel pits, either functioning or since repurposed?

  • #978
B) not necessarily anybody but if you know the local area might assume it’s a good place where a body is unlikely to be discovered.

what is the local community page called ?

Sand Hutton Gravel Pit | YDAA
It’s a popular area for walking between the villages and used by horse riders, most people in the area are familiar with them.
