That incident is a 'county lines' operation where dealers induce children or vulnerable young men to transport and sell drugs for them. The York end of it was in Clifton.

That said, I see no meaningful link between CL and that kind of activity. The Acomb connections perhaps point that way, but it remains pretty unclear, and looks more likely to concern the arrested suspects rather than CL herself.

Both .. but I see the the trfficking more as cheap/ forced or enslaved use of people.

Note the Manchester connection

but thats just my opinion.

In response to kir quote the woman officer in charge knew her personally and I believe that was the reason they responded so quickly IMO

That doesnt give much comfort to any parent of a missing person who doesnt have a personal connection to someone in the policeforce. :-(

Can I ask where do you think the police got there intelligence information from for this operation?

I don't know. With serious county line operations, they sometimes use undercover officers posing as users to build up a picture. They might also have cultivated an informer within the gang itself. And a scared young person might have sought protection and provided information. More recently a lot their big OCG arrests have come from a huge data windfall from cracking encro chat systems.

I believe it may have been turned off, but I also think it may have run out of charge - it doesn’t (IMO) benefit anyone or the investigation by being blindsided

It appears in my opinion that Claudia once leaving the uni and cctv at post box had obtained an extra bag. Had she picked up an overnight bag from a friends house on route? Also Suzy not Concerned with being stood up Thursday night as it was a loose agreement, was not concerned enough to check or look next door considering she is aware Claudia had booked Friday off work. No 12 early straights happening imo. However Friday Suzy off work gets no answer when calling again and aware Claudia was off work. Does Suzy drive to see Claudia or check up on her! No she calls George Forman and waits for him to return as out of town as he claimed. They go together and get no response and call Peter Lawrence as he has a key. Again they wait for PL to drive over, what is all the concern from Suzy she did not just go alone. Peter arrives and all 3 enter, GF says nothing untoward and her bike popped up in the kitchen anf Suzy said she followed PL upstairs and her bag containing passport etc was open on her bed. PL call NYP to report missing at 2.07pm. A lot went on from very early Friday morning.

I'm just posting this very early article which shows, that initially, Claudia was reported in a very good light. It seems to me that there was a change at the top of the investigation quite soon after Claudia went missing (From LP to RG) and IMO this change led to the change in reporting style. Anyone know the reason why the change (in leading the investigation) was made? What happened to Lucy Pope?

Does anyone have any feeling of guilt towards any of the POI’s that were arrested in particular?
I don’t want to break any rules so I don’t think I can say all my knowledge of the arrested 4 but IMHO I would eat my hat if they weren’t responsible for her disappearance.

You can't share here on the forum but I would be interested in any insight you have if you would be happy to share it privately

I think the change in reporting style came when reports started. coming in about Claudius. love life...that happens very often when a prostitute is murdered...there are 2 stock types the media use for women who aren't married or have children....the girl next door and the one who's no better than she should be

I really meant the press release style from LE. LP knew CL personally, RG didn't, and drew inferences (wrongly) in regard to CLs lifestyle.

I know that suzys a. controversial figure . its been said before but its interesting that. she. said it all got out of hand...no doubt the police have asked her about this

what got out of hand...a particular argument c had with. someone....her love life....the type. of people she was mixing with...her tendency to mock people behind their backs...the drinking...

I dont think suzy knows. exactly what. happened but I think. she knows what way the wind was blowing.
ive lived in rough areas...sorry to disillusion you, pope John, and ive had friends who've lived. in rough areas, but , if they didn't turn up, id assume they'd felt ill or fallen asleep and id probably have gone round and rung the doorbell without hesitation.

if there'd been no answer id have thought. there'd been an unexpected but not dangerous. development....it wouldn't have occurred to me until., say, the afternoon of the. next day, if. I still couldn't get in touch, to track it a bit further.

we. had. a single woman's rule...no hard. feelings if a good male. date. turns up.....you were still a bit miffed, really but it. worked for everyone

Sky journalist, Gerald Tubb reported in 2015 that journalists had been threatened or warned off this story and that CL seemed to have some very dubious acquaintances despite her conventional upbringing. Is there a suggestion that some of these individuals in the frame had links with the criminal underworld?

On a related note, the timing debate centres largely on Wednesday night vs Thursday morning, but in reality there’s a disappearance ‘window’ stretching from Wednesday evening to Friday midday. Are we being presumptuous in supposing that because CL didn’t go into work, answer calls or meet SC on Thursday evening that she had come to harm by this point?

I don't think we should assume that the late night out as reported by Oxer is fact, I keep a very open mind on that. Not primary source information and delivered a year late to boot.
Agree - however it was st Patrick’s night - so
Wether with a new boyfriend or not / highly likely a late night?
Because it’s midday. It’s in full light when it’s far harder to go undetected.
depends where you are. If you are at work and just popping out for lunch - may look just like an ordinary day
You would go back if you had left something or dropped something or to wipe fingerprints etc...........anything at all that after the fact, made you think there was something that could identify you as being in the house. Perhaps guess it depends how incriminating it was

When is she missing?

I think that's a really key question. And one that isn't really answered by police statements to date.

Does the "rogue's gallery" mean a bunch of builders who deal mainly cash-in-hand, drink a lot and cheat on their wives? Or were some of them into more serious crimes, potentially involving violence? On balance, I think most of the evidence points to the former. But there is occasionally a whiff of the latter, including the Gerald Tubb quote, and potentially some of the characters and activity in and around Acomb.
