Behind the Looking Glass

Four pieces of Cctv has been highlighted for various reasons The Bus cctv , the alleywayman evening, the focus morning, and of course alleywayman morning. The bus cctv obviously wasn’t about the white Astra estate. It seems alleyway evening is also focusing on anyone but the alleywayman - so perhaps there’s more to this cctv than meets the eye!!!!?

oh, great...the thread is still going...got to catch up.

one thing that has puzzled me a bit is why Claudius phone was switched off so late....I know there was a lot going on, but even if the perp didn't know Claudia very well...which I doubt...an important thing would be to switch off her phone.
ive thought of a few possible reasons, but none of. them really stack up

I would have thought she was in an ideal situation ( from the police point of view ) to work as an undercover person!
But if so this does not necessarily mean the persons she was investigating harmed her !
Is this what Galloway meant by ‘ element of mystery’?
with the best will in the world, if what we know about Claudius character is true, anyone who recruited her as an informant should have been sacked...she let her mouth run away with her too often...if there is anything to. the informant theory, it would be more likely that she was killed by someone from either side, who was worried about her giving. something away

ive come up with 3...fairly obvious possible reasons
1 the perp forgot
2 for some reason Claudia couldn't or wouldn't answer her phone, but I was left on.

once you concede that nothing is impossible, neither of these seem very likely...I think the phone was left on to leave a false trail...it was taken from c early on and secreted somewhere in her immediate phone area...with the minimum of planning, I can think of quite a. lot of places in my area where it could be hidden for a good while before you. came back to. retrieve it and dispose of it...I don't think she went to a house or flat. in the area...I think she was. driven away

Crimewatch shows them standing next to a crimson 4x4
I’m sure the police have an idea of who crimson car person was, if indeed this sighting happened and wasn’t intended to implicate someone else / distract the investigation … this pic is around the time claudia went missing, looks awfully like the car in the arguing couple reenactment, bloke with a jacket and beanie looking hat next to it… can’t recall where I found it (think it was a local york page - I’ll try to refind the link…)

I think a crimson 4x4 can be seen parked behind CLs house on googlemaps

I think the police have a good idea about lots of these things...its just piecing it all together and getting rid of the red herrings and getting evidence that could crack it all open...just.....
c kept a lot of things secret, but we don't know how much individuals knew about other boyfriends, etc etc...maybe just enough to leave false trails.
maybe my idea that her phone was. deliberately left on in her immediate area makes it more likely that the perp was not. local

Is that from the 2008/12 street view? I can see a boxy crimson Volvo estate at the entrance to Heworth Place in the former, and a more streamlined (& slightly smaller?) Volvo of the same or similar colour at the other end of Heworth Place in the latter. The crimson car in front of the pub here looks like a different make of car.

Regarding the late switch off of the phone:

Did they take a while to find her phone
Were they waiting for the first call or message coming in to check on her.

Once they knew she was being missed, they could then turn her phone off.

possible...id have just thought it would. be an advantage for. the perp if other. people thought she was somewhere she wasn't...I don't really get the point about checking she was missed, but possible again..from what we know of c, I don't think she was ever far from her phone.

I'm by no means ruling out a local connection...I certainly think some locals at least know more than they're saying and. may have been behind it..but I tend. more towards the idea that they were frightened. into helping or keeping quiet...much better for them, if they. wanted to leave it on, if the last pings came from elsewhere

Yes, a different one to this I think … it appears on quite a few of the pics of that time (as does a black 4x4 on heworth road, like the one parked outside her home …)

Anyone else think that the alleyman seems to be bald?

Is the ' alleyman ' known to definitely be a man or do they have the gait of a woman?

Apropos of nothing in particular - had a ‘Disappeared’ catchup earlier - two cases back to back in which strangulation with a curling iron was indicated/suspected.

Dana Pastori - mummified remains found in a trunk with a curling iron cord still around the neck.

Dee Ann Warner - disappeared from her home 2021; the only missing items being a make up bag and a curling iron.

sorry....quoted twice in error
as far as I know, nothing is definitely known...I agree with whoever said the figure seemed to be balding....so more likely. a man and I could have eaten some funny stuff.
on the other hand, there is something about. the figures movements that looks a bit. feminine to me, but its no more than an impression

Thanks Cortina.
The figure looks stocky and I guess that's why people think it's a man. But to me the person's gait looks like that of a woman.
The question is of course, what was this person doing? If Claudia came to harm in the time soon after she stopped answering messages, then the question is, is there another route by which a body could be removed from Claudia's property without being picked up by CCTV? Could the figure picked up on CCTV be a decoy person to make police believe that whatever happened occurred in a different direction to which it actually did?
Does anyone know if there would have been a different way that a body / person could be removed without being picked up by local CCTV?
