@fromgermany It is not what is said my Mr L as he is a very nice man but how his wife inferred that she would have reported the missing far earlier. If this is the case then why didn't she rather than to be critical of Mr L, who in my eyes responded as soon as he was aware something was wrong. This is what I am saying.
She might have been critical of S .C. Not voicing her concerns earlier .But it’s easier to criticise in hind side

Yes according to this article, Suzy wasn't due to meet Claudia until 9pm on Thursday 19th March. If this is correct, then the time scale before reporting her absence was not so great:

9pm: Miss Lawrence had been due to meet her best friend, Suzy Cooper, at their local pub, The Nag's Head in Heworth Road. She does not turn up, but Miss Cooper believes her friend may have fallen asleep after her early start.

Friday, March 20:
Miss Cooper attempts to contact Miss Lawrence but fails. She contacts Miss Lawrence's father.

"One of the most poignant moments for me was when I woke up on the Friday morning and realised that something was very wrong, as I still had not heard from Claudia.
"There was just a gut feeling I had that something had happened to her.
(Suzy Cooper)

Six months on... We believe Claudia is still out there

How Claudia's Law will help the families of missing people

Claudia Lawrence was 35 when she was reported missing after not turning up for work as a cook at York University in 2009. Six weeks after she went missing, the police classified her disappearance as a suspected murder investigation, although no proof that she died has ever been found.

Ten years on, the police are still not sure what happened to her, but believe that the public are holding back information which could provide an answer.

There are several theories about what happened. Some think she might have let someone into her home the night before colleagues realised she was missing, given CCTV footage of a man walking along the alley behind her house. Others believe she may have been abducted on her way to work, as what appeared to be breakfast dishes were found in the kitchen of her house.

Hindsight
I also think University of York should by now have reconsidered their staff safeguarding policy. There was no attempt made to follow up their initial 10 a.m. voicemail on the Thursday morning which was very poor in my opinion. Was she due in work on the Friday morning or had she booked it off to meet her father?

Hi @JerseyGirl and welcome to this thread.

Interesting to know if Claudias Law will, apart from assisting families of the long term missing, could also encourage others to go "missing" as part of a life insurance opportunity?

But then I suppose most things have a double edge to them..

I have tried to capture as many facts and thoughts on the following Blog which is regularly updated:

Claudia Lawrence-Who was she and Who took her?

@Yozzer Totally agree:
The Facts.....
Thursday 20th March 2009

Suzy Cooper is concerned and rings Claudia's Dad, Peter. He calls Claudia's workplace and when they advise she did not report for work on 19th he goes with George, landlord at Nags Head to check out the house and no one is found there.

I do hope that University of York have since improved their staff and student safeguarding policy?

Claudias employer had first attempted to contact Claudia over 24 Hours before (10 am -4 Hours after her shift started) and she didn't turn up for work for a second day.
It appears that next of kin were not contacted as her Dad had to contact them???

Did they try to contact her again on the Friday when she missed that shift too?

I don't know @Nikynoo but as her phone was switched of at 12:10 on 19th they would have just received a voicemail or no answer on 20th. Its at this stage you get the personal file out and start contacting next of Kin. I would have done

I agree, but i would have hoped that the police woud have mentioned this. Is information purposefully vague do you think ?

Everything linked to the university has been vague. They have kept a very low profile so it's difficult to know how helpful they've been to police. Then again with one member of staff murdered and another arrested on suspicion of being involved, it's not the sort of publicity you would encourage really.

Absolutely purposefully vague.
Like the image in the shadows that we identified on here this week. Police put out an appeal for a car braking. Well theres nothing unusual about that at 5am in the morning but a guy standing suspiciously next to a tree legs astride keeping watch????
He would have been seen on CCTV before and after, they would be able to see where he went and likely to be more of a suspect. The car could have just been slowing down at the 20MPH road surface change......It frustrates

Might harm their educational ratings

one could consider that there are reasons why the police don't want it solved........

I would like to know if during the case review, police worked on cleaning up those cctv images. Because if , as Dai Malyn said, "identification is an issue", surely if would be money well spent to try to brighten and sharpen up those night time /early morning images?

Well we have heard reports that some of images were "Cleaned Up" in the other way @Yozzer Some removed and some appearing different today from when they were first launched.
