Hi @RachelZachary You are absolutely right
Fancy having a go at filling in the missing "life" So far no one seems to think it is material but you never know?

I wish I could. Mind boggling isn’t it?! I find it so frustrating. It’s like a bad film.

One of the things I thought about was how to find Claudia's friends. Facebook would have been a good start but of course she didn't have a FB account and allegedly wasn't online. But her friends may have been.
Is Liz a good start?

@Pinkizzy This is a great article that tells us lots about Claudia. Some may say that it's not true but he comes across as very convincing.
Thanks for sharing this-I think the friend here, Male is Anthony N.
@RachelZachary This could help And goes part way to filling in the friends piece but also explains perhaps why Claudia's circle of friends in Malton was small. Does it also explain more around why she moved from Malton to Heworth and perhaps more so than for convenience in getting to work.
Was Galloway wrong to describe her life as "complex"
Probably not.

Good morning fellow Sleuths-Well-business takes me to the idyllic city of York this week and I thought that I might just seek out a nice local Pub and have a pint or two.

Does anyone have any recommendations for me and when I'm there what I should do also as I have seen all of the touristy things already like Jorvik and Railway museum.

I am being serious by the way....Please don't reply "We don't Know" :)

Visit the pubs mentioned in this thread - Nags Head, Carlton Tavern + Clockhouse

Kings Arms by the river is nice for a drink in the summer. Have you done the Art Gallery? Museum Gardens? Walk along the walls?

I’ve tried to find out a bit about Claudia’s friends. Unfortunately, both the schools she went to are now closed.

Family’s emotional plea to find missing woman Claudia Lawrence

If she moved 4 years before 2009, where did she live for her first two years in York?

It says she worked at ‘The Quality Inn’ before starting at the University. I can’t find any information on this place.

Thanks PI. I think I may have to restrict it to one though as I may be limited to time and I do have to watch my Liver.
But following your kind recommendation @Pinkizzy I checked on Trip Advisor and they did have 4 out of 5 stars which did surprise me when there were a few of the attached Poor comments.

But they had nice clean bedding which is probably a credit to George instilling this discipline before he moved on?

I think I might stay here:eek:

What I did learn was the bit about how they accessed their room from the "Car Park and up some Iron steps to their room"

Mmmmmmm How convenient!!!!!

I think the Quality Inn chain were swallowed up by another company @RachelZachary Perhaps some locals will know where it was.

That makes sense. I’ve found it now. It makes it hard to find any of her other friends or colleagues since her place of work and both her schools no longer exist.

@Pinkizzy I have summarised what this article says about Claudia. There are many clues in here of her behaviour and certainly shows a side of her that could well create a motive for someone to murder her:

A friend of 8 Years who described himself as one of her best friends said this about her:

Fantastic at her job and really hard working
Didn’t like to go front of house in restaurants as a chef because “Girls from Malton were there and I’m not very popular in Malton”
She had a house in Malton but her long term lover Mr McGinty of 10 years didnt move in with him and always suspected that he was cheating on her-This caused her to come to work sometimes in tears
Loyal and secret but secretive and insensitive

Became reckless with drink
Was undoubtably attracted to married men and got a kick out of it

Lovely girl who turned the charm on in a quiet way to draw attention to herself that always seemed to evolve around people who were with someone or married she saw it as a “Bit of fun”

Always secretive always texting and this came across to some as rather rude

The answer to Claudias behaviour lies in her drinking, she is a lovely girl but when drunk, other girls don’t like her. if you asked her out for a drink she would never say know.

She could be immature and bitchy and pull faces behind peoples backs

If she was out drinking, almost always she would return there that night as there were lock inns until 3-4 in the morning

She could drink six or seven pints of cider a night but had started to drink Vodka

Nags Head first searched on March 28th Took away mattress and sheets from One of bedrooms after the search must have been a further one then-George would put a bet on Ascot-18th to 22nd June

Hope that this helps and I have added to the Blog on Who was Claudia
Claudia Lawrence-Who Was She and Who Took Her?

2 observations from highlighted points above:
In her need to keep up with hardened male drinkers, she may have been a functioning alcoholic. I read that she was slight of build, probably a size 8. Her body wasn't built for that level of drinking. Don't forget she was 35, not an 18 year old student, so will have been doing this for years. I'm not being sanctimonious but it doesn't surprise me that her behaviour altered significantly once she'd had a few drinks as she was topping up her levels. Yes, this could have created a motive as no doubt, she became very loose tongued.
I wonder if this all started after the break up with PMcG?

@MajorLang
The 'comedy classic' Tripadvisor comment on the Nag's Head b&b stay, particularly the breakfast experience, would suggest the lock-ins are still in full swing with a few sore heads among proprietors the morning after.

The attached image I believe shows a car that was seen a few times by the post office
It was also seen the day of 19th
As we know that Claudia didn't walk to work as she wasn't seen on camera-This shot looks like Claudia walking to work on a previous day and shows what looks to be Claudia?

Comments please

I'm surprised she didn't have a beer belly

What do you think about the staircase though @Yozzer

Yes it has been known that there is a metal fire exit staircase at the rear which gives a completely separate access to and from the pub. From an aesthetic point of view, it is strange that they would expect their patrons to use it to access their rooms, particularly during winter months.

It looks like the person is wearing white knee length boots and a white shift dress - probs attempting the walk of shame
