Excuse my ignorance but who is Drayman please?

If she had gone out that night she may have taken her straighteners with her if she was intending an overnight stay.

I don't buy the colleague who declares her all night out the night before-this is a diverting tactic of a sociopath and will be an omission of one of 4 arrested.
Making it sound like she had been out all night on 17th would make it sound less likely that she would go out on night of 18th.

If you want to make it look like someone has done a runner, you may want to make it look like they had disguised themselves.

Overnight stay is likely but C was not spotted leaving her home by car or by foot that evening. Did she not tell her mother on phone she was planning an early night ?

The colleague is a strange one. I can’t think why he’d not inform the police sooner but then I can’t understand why he’d tell a year later either. Did the colleague hang out at the NH with the rest of the suspects? Can’t think why he’d lie unless involved in some way.

I do believe if the perps went to the trouble and had the imagination to stage the hair dye, they’d have at least taken her passport and bank cards. In fact, that would be a much better way of leading the police to think C had done a runner .

One thing I’m not sure of.....the Focus breaking outside C house, where was the CCTV that picked it up? Surely if the CCTV was that close to C house, it would pick up all the other comings and going’s outside her house and would have caught CL movements ?

It would be interesting to see the usual comings and goings caught on CCTV around that area on different evenings / early mornings. Take CL out of the mix and would those men look quite so suspicious or just going about their business. The activity that night may have just been the norm.

I think you raise a few good points.

Why would Claudia tell her Mum she was having an early night, if this wasn't her intention? It could be that she wanted to get her Mum off the phone so that she could get ready or it could be she was telling the truth and had no intentions of going out.
Having said that, if her intention was to go out, then it begs the questions, how and when was this planned? From her phone records, it could not have been that evening, unless she had another phone?

Regarding the colleague, I had mentioned in a previous post that this was suspicious. Surely the first question that would have been asked of him, is what was said or happened that made you remember this? Whatever his answer was, the police must have thought it plausible, otherwise they wouldn't have released it (or would they?).

I totally agree with you on taking her passport etc, these items would have been removed.

The CCTV that captured the Focus is on the same side of the road as Claudia's House, but lays back from HeworthRoad itself. Due to the angle, it may be possible not to have captured Claudia leaving home

I need to reread some of the little known facts but if my memory serves me , the conversation with mum seems to point to both watching location, location and chatting about it. C told her mum she was having an early night because of an early start. It doesn’t sound like someone rushing to a clandestine rendezvous .

I’m not sure what to make of the police tbh. They are quite clear they know who the person/s are but have little evidence to charge them. There is obviously a lot of info they’re withholding but why? Surely the quickest way to solve the case is to release more detail. If some of the suspects in the CCTV footage have come forward and been eliminated than why not they say so?

Thinks for clearing up the angle of camera. Makes sense why it wouldn’t pick up CL or other visitors.

Maybe they are worried they will skip the country and they will never find out what happened.

Sorry @Mrs Marple, who leaving the country?

The suspects; if NYP reveal their full hand, they might flee. I suspect it will only take one person to confirm a couple of things to firm up this case.

Sorry to hear you're not well! Hope for a speedy recovery.

I would say you really have caught up!

Regarding the University of York... their safeguarding procedure is/was pitiful and I would hope it has been made far more rigorous. 1 call (and nothing further!!) after someone has not showed up for work, 4 hours later than their start time, not to get in touch with them and not to do anything else? Totally inadequate. If a member of our team does not arrive for work and we are unable to get in touch with them on the phone or speak to their family to find out their wellbeing, we would go and knock on their door. If we still cannot get in touch with them, we'd pass to the Police.
did they not call on Friday either?

Is the colleague Claudias boss? was the colleague identified?

I sontd believe so. It was the friend Suzy who alerted her father on Friday when she hasn't turned up to a sate rhe previous evening nor contacted her to explain.

Yes the colleague has been identified...name escapes me at the moment, it's in these posts though.

No not her boss and has never been identified as far as I know.

I don't think the name of her boss was ever revealed, but I have seen that it was Claudia's Manager who tried to contact her

Yes was her manager who tried to make contact. I’ve no idea of the name of the colleague.

Do the police really have anything on the NH lot or are they just a lazy excuse ? I don’t hold with the idea the CPS didn’t have enough evidence. Even circumstantial has had a positive result in past cases. To put it out there they know who “Did It” but can’t take it further doesn’t sit right,IMO .

The killer must be suffering at the moment - imagine if he talks in his sleep!
