He may have been the spurned ex.... Jealousy and Lust!!..... He would not have driven the breakdown vehicle himself though would he? So he would need to have included at least one aquaintance in the plot?..... If that is the case I presume that person would need to be a trusted friend and it would have involved a payment of 10k? But the reason? Can't just be jealousy or because he was spurned? Must be another reason.... Like saving one's own skin!!
Very precise in mentioning 2 things here:
Saving ones own skin
£10k
And yes, wouldn't need to drive the truck
The truck could have been owned by another company person
He may just have been at the end of the disposal chain and as you say forced to do it.

Interesting..... Wouldn't you take the guys name and details and ask him to send the pics of bag and phone? Seem disinterested "friends" to me...
Or did the reported guy who had seen the bag even exist or was he made up as a smokescreen

The more I look at this case I think that CL was more the victim of her own naivity.... She was a friendly girl who got in with the wrong sort.... Why? Because she had low self esteem and enjoyed the male attention! Before long she was groomed and she wanted out of it! She knew too much and had to be silenced. Perhaps because she threatened " leave me alone or I will tell the cops"..... They couldn't take that chance! So a human life was taken ( perhaps two lives as she may have also been pregnant)..... The lives of her mom and dad her sister will never be the same again. So sad!

But have any witnesses mentioned seeing a broke down automobile or pick up? Not aware they have?

The plods need to relook at the ex pat Cypriots and their connections in York i.e. criminal connections. They are the link in this case I am sure of it! The Mafia are very much still the ones who control in Cypriot regions.... Then the link to the ex pat bar owners who made numerous trips to York. A world of drug trafficking and exploitation and CL was just someone lower down the chain and she became disposable! Her texts to the ex pats that she couldn't afford the trips out that she wanted were perhaps " veiled threats" that she needed more money to continue being involved in their criminal world..... Greed!!

There are so many red herrings in this case it's unbelievable. Now, I'm not familiar with this case at all, but having skimmed through a few articles and read some points on here, it's clear why this case has still not been solved.
Someone on this thread mentioned first looking at why rather than who, which is very important. This then narrows down the possible perpetrator/s.
There are several pieces of evidence thrown into this case that has made it go wayward.
To me, first impressions lay within organised crime.
The last received text being from someone in Cyprus. The fact that she was planning to go abroad.
Nags head, a local. Was there some sort of drug business going down there? Might explain the man seen lurking around her house, perhaps she owed him money?
She had several secret lovers, some married. Was she an escort?
This all point to an underground mystery.
There are things that have been added to the mix on purpose, to divert attention from what actually happened.
What her friends have said, the people seen arguing, the breakfast dishes in the sink, the bed made, etc. Planted.
Trafficked; she's an attractive woman. In this case, probably killed recently or dropped, she's in her prime now.
Saw something she shouldn't have and threatened to expose; they killed her. (Does this tie in with the time the man was seen near her house?)
She left on her own accord in fear or simply wanted to start anew. (Hair dye)
Organised crime. Rogue officers.
Everyone has secrets.

And busses !

or she simply was not ready to introduce the ‘new’ boyfriend to the NH crowd !
Who else claims to know about this new boyfriend - apart from DO and DW?

Are you sure.. She had planned a trip to Greece at Easter to coincide with the college break. I thought the trip with SC was to a different desitination later in summer break holidays?
My understanding from her texts was that flights to Cyprus at Easter were/are extortionate and this was the dilemma she discussed in texts to SS on the evening of 18th March.

.....and here is the Greece connection:
'Claudia arranged by text to meet Cooper in their local on Thursday evening: both women wanted to plan a holiday to Greece.'

It all gets a bit confusing ...Do you mean the mystery man of the nite of the 16th?
Her ex Dan said she told him she had a new boyfriend in October. No one else appears to have known anything about this supposed boyfriend.
DO spoke of a mystery lover she spent the night with on the nite of the 16th.
The ex Scotland Yard detective narrating the programme ( Missing or Murdered)on which DO said Police believe Clausida had a casual boyfriend at the time but the man she spent the nite of the 16th was someone else.
I have previously asked the question here that if Dan was the only person who CL had told she had a boyfriend and he was the one that told police then Dan was he only source of the information which maybe suspect....did she really tell him or could he have made it up to distract attention away from himself

I have this article to hand re the Easter trip to Cyprus with JK .. I'll keep searching for more detail of the trip planned with SC
Missing Claudia Lawrence's last words to pal revealed
In the above article the writer starts talking about Cyprus then jumps on the Hale trail .
And it looks as if the writer got the info from Claudia’s friends and not from the police .Because it says her friends said that the police have eliminated the guy from Hale.
I take from this that her friends sent / told the police about her friends from Hale and why I ask was it any of her friends’ business whether he was eliminated or not ?
I wouldn’t mind betting the friends got a telling off by the police for talking out of turn .

In normal everyday life people make arrrangements they dont keep it doesnt mean theyve been abducted or murdered this is especially the case of someone leading a perfect ordinary normal run of the mill life. Reasons can range from forgetting the arrangement, illness, something coming up unexpectedly, a disagreement, or just couldnt be bothered.
As you rightly point out PJ Claudia was an adult women not a child so missing this social meet wouldnt necessarily be a cause for concern and a text message to that person would usually surfice while they carried on with their evening with other people in the pub.
JK was working behind the bar so I dont think she would dwell on this and the evening would have passed relatively quickly. But SC has a completely different personality she has shown before her moods change in certain situations on the day of the gold cup at the NH she said she didnt have time with CL because when she arrived at the pub Claudia had had too much to drink and SC stood at the away from her. SC can be very easily offended.
We know that when she didnt turn up for their usual meet on the evening of the 19th she sent her a text saying 'Thanks for standing me up!' she tried later to pass this off as a joke but I think otherwise. I think it was possibly a sarcastic retort she was annoyed and offended and let Claudia know about it.

Only thing I'd say to that is yes people don't meet up at pubs when scheduled but in majority of those cases the person who dosen't turn up usually lives further away than pretty much 10 yards from the pub!

I'm just surprised particularly as they were planning/booking the holiday so would've been more than the usual meet up.

Certainly not saying SC knew anything at that point but I certainly would've at least gone and seen the state of play outside the house at that point e.g. lights on, curtains drawn etc if text messages weren't being responded to.

Was JK living opposite Nags Head/CL at the time? So she was in prime position to see her friends comings and goings really if she wasn't on shift or socialising (which in fairness would've been most of the week judging by reports).

What was the timetable for the bus at that time of the night, one an hour or more frequent (or even going out of service at 10).

I presume not given it seems a busy road and covers a few areas so buses CCTV after that one released and then in early hours of Thurs 19th would show if the vehicles of interest were still there or had gone.

Again must be a reason why that particular Bus CCTV at that time was released and we're giving it a good go on here!

Dating adds in newspapers or magazines with replies to a P.O Box number

Facebook was around in those days. I signed up to it in early 2008 although assume CL wasn't on it given she didn't own a computer and it was pretty basic on phones around that time.

I imagine the police were a bit dumbfounded when they realised she didn't own a computer as emails are always a good source of evidence for many court cases so would be surprising socially active person didn't own one.

Or was she supplementing her income with a bit of escorting on the side? Hence why her friends didn't go to her house and knock on the door when she stood them up on occasions.... As they thought she may have company. They are also not sharing that info because perhaps they were also escorting to supplement their income and there is always that old statement " birds of a feather flock together"

Decent number of people in U.K do it now to pay their way through Uni these days:

One in 20 students turning to sex industry to pay their way through university | Daily Mail Online

So more socially acceptable in peer groups than it used to be (also got stuff like sugar babies just fleecing off rich lonely men buying them gifts for "company") although not something you'd say to your parents.

I certainly agree she was being lent money from someone although I think her dad would also be helping her out.

Does seem implausible she was going to have two holidays with her car in service. My Mum had her MOT the other week and that was over 300 quid.

SC has clarified on social media that she left the Nags and didn't check on Claudia because she lived then at Tan Hill and walked home in the opposite direction. JK however did walk past Claudias that night after her bar shift at Nags and was with her boyfriend PR.
We all believe that Claudia was killed on night of 18, early hours of 19. But could she have been very ill hence missing work and actually killed on night of 19th?

To be honest I think NYP have shelved the case for now and are just waiting in the hope that allegiances change and consciences are purged or someone comes across the remains then the case will reopen. I've read about a case in Leeds of a schoolgirl who was kept in a freezer for many years before her murderer moved her to a burial site and hence he was caught and the murder solved. This is certainly a possibility or buried in a cellar etc. so unless there is a need for the perpetrator to move the body CL will not be found. But then again whoever is the guilty party seem to have covered their tracks very well indeed. It's the perfect murder! People like these do not have a conscience.... So it's waiting for allegiance to change or locating the remains of CL.

My gut feeling is it will be another Suzy Lamplugh case although in fairness they do have a very strong suspect in that case, just can't locate the body so could be de ja vu for this although hope not for the families case.
