This is important to me .
On page 21 in Gone it says Ali and Claudia made arrangement to get together weeks before Claudia disappeared but Claudia had to cancel as one of her friends needed her support, which Claudia, as always ,freely gave.
Was this true ?Who was that friend ? Did Ali ever find out who that was ?
Must have been pretty important (to claudia ) especially if she had Xmas presents for her nephews whom she liked very much !

You see Ali was meant to be going to York to see Claudia around Xmas but Ali had the flu.
So they arranged to meet up weeks before CL disappeared and I’m assuming presents exchange had not taken place ?

I think, it was JK, the friend, who had relationship issues and got help from CL. But I just have lost the link again.

I think you’re right but could it have been someone else ie the new boy- friend who had relationships issues?
This could also have been exaggerated by Claudia ( relationships) because she did not have a reliable car at the time in which she planned to drive to Derbyshire where her sister lived .

I would imagine her sister have stayed with Claudia.Getting your first house is a big thing plus Ali going there is killing three birds with one stone ie seeing Claudia ,Dad and mum too.
If Claudia had at least four Xmas presents a car would have been certainly missed .Not to mention overnight (?) luggage ?

Alleyman-Could someone explain to me why police ask if someone can identify alleyman but then show far away footage of someone with a deliberately blurred out face???
Is this possibly police going through the motions of investigating a case where they know the truth cannot be revealed?
There is a similar case at the moment-Leah Croucher- Milton Keynes where everyone is pointing to a suspect but the police will not investigate him.
Who and why are these cases dampened down and what did Claudia know that had to be kept quiet and is there such a thing as protecting the greater good?

Its because it would be an Infringement of Privacy.
so blurring of the face/people, vehicle registration numbers, house numbers etc are necessary

It would be different if the man had been seen or known to have committed a crime. In that instance his face could be shown.

Alleyman cctv shows man/men that the police would like to speak to but have'nt yet come forward the cctv footage are made public in the hope that other members of the public could identify him or the person themselves would come forward.

(Given that the man has not to date been identified suggests he is not a local man)
