you think the mystery boyfriend could be a policeman.....I still doubt he would be a real policeman, Popejohn3, for the reasons ive already mentioned, and I dont believe in him if it was the one suddenly remembered after 12 months.

but, apart from that, I agree there could be one we dont know about, but I still have a gut feeling this isn't about a conventional boyfriend abduction and murder...if there is such a. thing...theres too much pointing the other way.

but ill agree its just circumstantial......and as the friends have changed their accounts, then they only have themselves to blame if were sceptical

Sorry I give up. You’re putting words in my mouth.
You remind me of Johnny Five !

you give up too easily...so which one do you think could be the policeman

if someone says they've heard of a mystery boyfriend, the police presumably have the duty to keep that lead open, until the case is resolved.

but I think they've made it clear that they think that getting to the heart of this case is getting some. of her friends to tell the truth

I didn't realise that CL had texted a friend about the "mystery boyfriend". Does this then corroborate DO's long delayed report of his chat with her at work or is there an error in the 2010 Express article which Yozzer has attached:-
"The search was not related to an appeal earlier this month to trace a “mystery boyfriend” with whom Miss Lawrence was with until 4.30am on March 16 last year. She texted a friend about the man but he has not come forward."

Yes saw that and wondered if Express got it wrong as haven't seen it anywhere else. Maybe should say *told* a friend??

Told or text does not really matter and my guess her ‘friend’ would be be Dan

The headlines I would like to see and pray for :
Closure for CL family
Funeral to take place at the Church .
The judge, when passing sentence, is expected to bear in mind the cooperation and remorse shown by the accused !
11 year of cooperation and remorse @Popejohn3 Do you mean. In Amsterdam we have a name for people from the UK who come here to smoke weed and start talking ****. :)

I think the ideal solution would be for the friends to come forward and answer all the polices questions truthfully and fully and, if that didn't lead to proof of someone outside that group as a perp, they could all go round to the pub for beer and sandwiches and forget the whole thing.

if they would only cooperate and tell the full truth, any shadow of involvement hanging over innocent people would be lifted

I suspect that even though these 4 are big and burly guys that they may live in fear of others.

yes, I think so too

is it my imagination, or is there a split between pl and his spokesman.

his spokesman.....very good friend.....seems to have been the one who was pushing the theory about the mystery boyfriend, whereas pl has been talking about forgetting old l0yalties.

I can well imagine that the friends are truly sorry about what happened to Claudia and it just shows what happens when you get involved in dodgy stuff....none more so than in drugs where there are chains leading back from the very snallest fry to the biggest of. the big

It's interesting that you mention this about Peter Lawrence and Martin Dale's.
@cortina
If you watch the tv footage when Galloway mentions the mystery boyfriend. Peter L is most perturbed at the mention.
Where was Martin Dales pushing this.
I'm not sure if Peter was upset because of the mention of yet another man or was this a prickly subject for other reasons.
I show attached the screenshots of Peters expression changes during the mention-Clearly he is not happy????

Oh, I remember well PL's strange facial expression! Swaying between "What is this idiot talking about??" and "OMG, again another new man in this circus." MOO

I was just thinking the same about Martin Dales, a lot of articles seem to suggest that he had acted as spokesman (Note past tense) for PL

Peter states he went to the nags head 3-4 times a week and regarding married men, he was aware just a bit of fun! I find odd but shows there is no issue,so we can say something hit a nerve. I feel peter would attend the nags head as he liked to be away from his village and possibly relax and enjoy whatever the appeal was in there. I believe peter has not complained in any part of the Claudia investigation and has not put any pressure for more cctv, did he request a sars? Offer a personal reward etc. Though he did get claudias law and demanded to know wether he was hacked or phone and received a medal.

Possible when Martin stated unhappy with the investigated and demanded a review, Peter publicly stated Martin don’t speak for his feelings and was wrong.perhsps Martin felt strongly and they could not agree on this.

Yes probably yet an other man in her life .
He did say he found it incredulous she found time for that ( since working early days ) also hard to believe that DO remembers this vital information one year later !

I don’t see the need to have a family spokesman in this or any other case with the exception of a non English speaking victims family.
The possibility of confusion and mistakes abound .
Same goes for the number of policemen involved in the early days of the investigation.
Too many cooks spoils the ....
And God helps the officer in charge trying to read all those reports from so many sources !
Some officers don’t even take notes or record the conversations !
