New Suzy Lamplugh lead...digging/searching tonight and I just watched Rhys Jones' murder again where police gave full prosecution anonymity to the associate of his murderer Sean Merser. So serves to show difficult crimes may and can be solved after many years and when family/friends close rank completely. Police just need physical evidence...why they don't have this here seems strange but I suppose possible? I have my own theory on 'brothers' but is purely speculative based on there being a relevent motive. I know these brothers have been investigated thoroughly but police/CPS not willing/able to take further. In Australia (William Tyrrall) case is now in a legal 'inquiry' to prove beyond doubt that he did not 'disappear of his own free will'. By doing this police are able to question all poi's under court type standards.....wish UK law could do that here. Idea is the inquiry teases out vital information in a strong legal setting despite poi's not being arrested etc. Feel that would be useful here ie get all poi's back and go through all witness statements/cctv/alibis etc.

The guy in the white top - I wondered if he was a local man who worked as a minibus driver at the travel company. His clothes look like a company uniform to me. He would go round the back to retrieve a minibus (Dale's Lane) which would match the cctv. They offered a 24 hour service (now closed down but reopened in a new name). Funnily enough, the owner of Q Travel studied catering at York College. Not suggesting a connection but thought it was a coincidence.

They would have recorded at Stephen Harris-Their producers recording studio in Kilham, York's. 50 minutes from York and via Malton Road. The band we're from Now leeds.
And it repeats something spotted in another article recently that she was in a secret 'serious' long term relationship, with someone who had been in a ltr, at the time of her disappearance. There have been no direct public comments on this relationship by police, family or friends but presumably the person confessed it to the police himself?

Anyone have any views on the work colleague who decides a year after Claudias disappearance to tell police about the new boyfriend she stayed out with all night?
He had been interviews previously but failed to mention it?

I think that would depend on the type of person the colleague was. If he was really into CL, you would expect him to retain that type of information. If he was the type who let her talk about herself freely but was only really half listening, maybe it took some prompting (the stories in the press which emerged about boyfriends) to trigger the memory. He doesn't appear to fit the profile the police have promoted either. Frustrating for all concerned though.

CCTV verifies that CL arrives at work
During her shift she tells a work colleague that she has been out all night drinking in the city centre until 4 am and just got back home at 5am.
She advised colleague that she had been out with a new boyfriend.
Police have appealed to hear from new boyfriend but no one has come forward.
If she returned home then, that would have given her 34 minutes to get to work (A walk from home to Work is 1.7 miles and takes 34 minutes)
This would entail her setting off at 05:23 to arrive at 05:57 unless she took a lift.
Hardly time for her to do much more than brush her teeth and grab her bag.
If she didn't return home, someone may have given her a lift to work or she may have walked from a different direction?

CL leaves work-Verified by CCTV cameras.
On her walk home she is seen at parade of shops / post box near 204 Melrosegate.
She is seen talking on her phone to someone as she stops to post a letter in the post box-Verified by CCTV cameras. This location is the half way point between work and home.
Later her mother mentions that they had a call during the time frame of approx. 14:05 to 14:40 pm.

It was a walk to the post office of 0.8 miles from work and would take 17 minutes and so she would arrive to post letter at approx 14.48.
If her Mother was accurate with her time of conversation, she was probably talking to someone else as seen when posting the letter-who?

CL was spotted walking home and given a lift by a female work colleague, her name Jo.
This would have to be after posting the letter and by car the time to cover the remaining distance of 0.9 miles would be Approx. 3-4 minutes.
Jo dropped her off outside her home, again at Approx 14:51 (Based upon above time and distance assumptions).

CL then goes back out at an unreported time and Returns home at a reported time of 15:05 when seen by childminder, Linda Chapman with child in pram at this time.
CL was returning back home and they exchanged pleasantries as she passed by the Nags Head, her local pub.
No one knows where she went for such a short period of time (10 minutes maximum).
What is known as whilst she would have had time to visit the parade of shops at Heworth Village nearby, she was not picked up on CCTV camera there.
However given that she may have visited and met someone (possibly to arrange something)
She could only have walked 3-4 minutes away from her home.
Who did she know who lived within or worked within this radius...???

It would appear that Bin collection day was on a Tuesday and so the Bins would be fairly empty on this evening.

In Summary of Two People:

Dark Person Is out of sight for 68 seconds and appears to have a back pack before and after going out of sight for 68 seconds.
Upon re-appearing, Dark person hesitates because if they had not they would have caught up to Light person on Heworth Road.
It is not reported where either of these people then go to?
This CCTV was only released to public on 18th March 2015 by new police enquiry, despite it featuring the same Dark Person as the earlier release of the morning CCTV???

Dark Person Is out of sight for 50 seconds and does not appear to have a back pack before and after going out of sight.
Upon re-appearing Dark person re enters Heworth Road and it is not reported where he goes to.
Whilst Dark Person is out of sight for 50 seconds, light person is seen on opposite side of road and then seen again a few minutes later on Cost Cutter camera. They appear to be wearing clothes that are a few sizes too large and there could be the impression of a back pack under the light jacket.
The light jacket has a logo on the sleeve similar to fashion brand "Stone Island" worn by many as football cult wear.
It is not reported where Dark Person goes too?
Scenario
Dark person plants or gathers up something at 19:15 from rear of CL house. Has Back Pack.
Was there an item in back pack required and secreted at rear of property?
Dark person returns or gathers something at 5:07 from rear of CL house-Doesn’t have back pack?
Was the item secreted at rear of property then collected in the morning?
The above CCTV was released by NYP on 15th May 2009 and then dismissed as they believed the Dark Person was a Landlord (RC) checking out his properties in Heworth place. RC died of a heart attack a few weeks after CL.

This same silver car was seen again around the same time a week later on 25th March.

The man is described as white, aged 55 to 65, about 6ft tall with a full head of medium-length grey hair which appeared scruffy and windswept.
He was wearing a matt sandy-coloured ‘Mac’ style jacket which came just below the knee. It was unfastened and appeared to be made of thick material or the wearer had extra clothing underneath.
Again bulky clothing or something else under clothes??

Was and still is believed to be in relationship with Jen King?
They both lived and still do at 41 Heworth Road, York. Since 2003.
This house is opposite CL house.

“Along with the fact that Peter Ruane is going out with 31-year-old Jen King, one of Claudia’s best friends.”
In an interview to the Sun, Jen King who spearheaded the search for Claudia in the early days, yesterday was quoted as telling a pal:
“I was only guilty of being her friend.” She added:
It’s been really s*** and we’ve had nearly a year of this. It’s taken its toll on us all.
We’ve (who are the we?) had sleepless nights and I’ve had to take beta-blockers for panic
Attacks and hypnotherapy to calm my nerves.”
3. Shane Ruane (52) Brother to Pete Ruane (Also arrested) Shane and Pete had a relative-Terry who was a Taxi driver and was not arrested.
4. David Robinson (52)-Window Installation Business?
Stated that he was taken out of context when Police interviewed him about a report that he had said he killed CL.
CPS are asked to review case and advise on strength of evidence
In no way am I suggesting any guilt here. I am just trying to link together who was arrested and who they were in close relationships with.

I have read several articles today and it has served only to make me sad about how off the mark I believe this whole thing to be.
It may interest some to know that 2 out of the 4 men arrested are close friends of Claudia's and love her very much and miss her much more. It may also interest some to know that all four are close friends of mine and I have the utmost belief, faith and trust in them. I 110% believe that they were not involved an any way, shape or form.
Although its accepted that being arrested and questioned was an inevitability because statistically in these cases it is someone the victim knew and was close to that is the perpetrator, there is no evidence that I am aware of to tie any of these men to her disappearance. I have known these men for the best part of a decade and I trust them all implicitly. Statistics don't kill people, people kill people.
So celebrate if you must this "new development" but as one of those few who knows Claudia AND all these men arrested I can say with absolute certainty, regret and complete sadness that we are not any closer to finding her than we were 6 months ago.
I bear no grudge and wish no ill will on the Police for this and I have to keep my faith that they (the police) will soon move on from this area to a more fruitful line of inquiry based on and turning up hard evidence that will eventually lead us to our lost friend who will be found (I hope) one day in the near future, and I pray alive and well.

CPS decide that there is insufficient evidence to charge any of the 4 men.
Police understandably have a very frustrating period as of course they want to solve the case and quote that due to friends and acquaintances being economic with the truth or silent, they are unable to progress things further.

Investigation closed and now becomes a “Cold Case”
Some notes about Claudia Lawrence
A hard working person with a wide circle of friends as well as a smaller close group of people. Much of her socialising but not all, is centred around the Nags Head public house.
What we have learnt so far is that she does not spend every night there and varies between nights out in York City centre, with Jen and Suzy. More of a girly night out.
It is also suggested that CL would meet others in city centre or a pub in Acomb. Away from the prying eyes of the Nags locals.
There does appear to be a side of her that she didn’t want even her close male and female friends aware of.
Missing Items
A backpack, likely to be containing:
Chef Whites for work
Curling Tongs
House keys?
The DVD
Mentioned by a Reditt poster.
Allegedly CL was on a DVD with other men, whose identity was masked.
The daughter of one of CLs previous partners had found this in his car.
It is likely that police were aware of this but due to already upsetting family over CL character earlier, did they want this information released to media?
Where other females involved in this activity then or in the future?
In summary
It was known that Suzy Cooper was “Stood Up” on a few occasions by CL for arranged meetings at the Nags Head.
Why on every occasion that this happened did Suzy not venture a few doors along to CL’s house?
Was Suzy Cooper just allowing CL some discretion?
Her phone
The Samsung model of Phone had a battery life of 2-3 days dependent upon usage. Claudia was a prolific texter and so 2 Days is a more realistic battery life for her.
She would not normally take the charger with her to work as she would use the phone less during this time.
However if she was planning to be away from home for longer she probably would take it with her.

Dark person does not appear to have a back back on this occasion and is walking with hands in pockets
In Summary of Two People:
Evening 18th March-19:15
Dark Person Is out of sight for 68 seconds and appears to have a back pack before and after going out of sight for 68 seconds.
Upon re-appearing, Dark person hesitates because if they had not they would have caught up to Light person on Heworth Road.
It is not reported where either of these people then go to?
This CCTV was only released to public on 18th March 2015 by new police enquiry, despite it featuring the same Dark Person as the earlier release of the morning CCTV???
Morning 19th March-05:07
Dark Person Is out of sight for 50 seconds and does not appear to have a back pack before and after going out of sight.
Upon re-appearing Dark person re enters Heworth Road and it is not reported where he goes to.
Whilst Dark Person is out of sight for 50 seconds, light person is seen on opposite side of road and then seen again a few minutes later on Cost Cutter camera. They appear to be wearing clothes that are a few sizes too large and there could be the impression of a back pack under the light jacket.
The light jacket has a logo on the sleeve similar to fashion brand "Stone Island" worn by many as football cult wear.
It is not reported where Dark Person goes too?
Scenario
Dark person plants or gathers up something at 19:15 from rear of CL house. Has Back Pack.
Was there an item in back pack required and secreted at rear of property?
Dark person returns or gathers something at 5:07 from rear of CL house-Doesn’t have back pack?
Was the item secreted at rear of property then collected in the morning?
The above CCTV was released by NYP on 15th May 2009 and then dismissed as they believed the Dark Person was a Landlord (RC) checking out his properties in Heworth place. RC died of a heart attack a few weeks after CL.

A different silver coloured car seen heading away from University at 05:32-Caught on camera at same pint where CL posted letter the previous day-Moving with headlights on.
This same silver car was seen again around the same time a week later on 25th March.
Was this a shift worker heading for their 06:00 shift and on way to City Centre or a Shift worker finishing their shift.

CCTV footage shows an old-style light coloured Ford Focus hatchback car - manufactured between 1998 and 2004 - driving along Heworth Road. Was seen braking / slowing down on opposite side of road of CL house as it approaches her house

Someone sighted outside CL House.
Man seen outside of Claudia's house
The man is described as white, aged 55 to 65, about 6ft tall with a full head of medium-length grey hair which appeared scruffy and windswept.
He was wearing a matt sandy-coloured ‘Mac’ style jacket which came just below the knee. It was unfastened and appeared to be made of thick material or the wearer had extra clothing underneath.
Again bulky clothing or something else under clothes??

Phone powers down-A explicit power down meaning phone was actually turned off by someone rather than it running out of battery, being submerged or smashed.
That evening
CL does not turn up for a Pre-Arranged evening with Suzy Cooper. Suzy sends her a text and gets no reply.
CL was renowned for speaking to parents daily. Did one of parents not think it strange that there was no contact that evening?

SuzyCooper is concerned and rings CL’s Father, Peter. He calls CL workplace and when they advise she did not report for work on 19th he goes with George, landlord at Nags Head to check CL house and no one found there.

The police thinking at this time was at a far less mature level and so the above tends to suggest their thoughts that would indicate her being held possibly alive in one of these places?
Following a police investigation and a police review that includes the setting up of a new squad and a new senior officer being appointed.
A period of 5 years passes and many suspects are interviewed and released and thousands of statements along with many searches have taken place.

Case now passed over to a higher investigative level and renamed from Operation “Cabin “to Operation “Essence”

The police thinking at a far more mature level with more information. They will have dicounted at this time her abduction as they were working on a Murder case and based upon what we are seeing unfold a murder that is focused around people who knew her and her close social network.

- Alistair Cooper (59) Was he a relative of Suzy Coopers? He was arrested first and this led to the arrest of 3 others.
He may have been framed (Yellow mac ETC)
His son worked as a bar man at Nags Head when not at University, during breaks. CL did not disappear during a traditional Uni break period.
Suzy lives on her own. Do we know wherabout’s in relation to CL?
2. Peter Ruane (55) Builders and Car Repair business in Malton.
Was and still is believed to be in relationship with Jen King?
They both lived and still do at 41 Heworth Road, York. Since 2003.
This house is opposite CL house.
The Sun Quoted
“Along with the fact that Peter Ruane is going out with 31-year-old Jen King, one of Claudia’s best friends.”
In an interview to the Sun, Jen King who spearheaded the search for Claudia in the early days, yesterday was quoted as telling a pal:
“I was only guilty of being her friend.” She added:
It’s been really s*** and we’ve had nearly a year of this. It’s taken its toll on us all.
We’ve (who are the we?) had sleepless nights and I’ve had to take beta-blockers for panic
Attacks and hypnotherapy to calm my nerves.”
3. Shane Ruane (52) Brother to Pete Ruane (Also arrested) Shane and Pete had a relative-Terry who was a Taxi driver and was not arrested.
4. David Robinson (52)-Window Installation Business?
Stated that he was taken out of context when Police interviewed him about a report that he had said he killed CL.
CPS are asked to review case and advise on strength of evidence
In no way am I suggesting any guilt here. I am just trying to link together who was arrested and who they were in close relationships with.

I have read several articles today and it has served only to make me sad about how off the mark I believe this whole thing to be.
It may interest some to know that 2 out of the 4 men arrested are close friends of Claudia's and love her very much and miss her much more. It may also interest some to know that all four are close friends of mine and I have the utmost belief, faith and trust in them. I 110% believe that they were not involved an any way, shape or form.
Although its accepted that being arrested and questioned was an inevitability because statistically in these cases it is someone the victim knew and was close to that is the perpetrator, there is no evidence that I am aware of to tie any of these men to her disappearance. I have known these men for the best part of a decade and I trust them all implicitly. Statistics don't kill people, people kill people.
So celebrate if you must this "new development" but as one of those few who knows Claudia AND all these men arrested I can say with absolute certainty, regret and complete sadness that we are not any closer to finding her than we were 6 months ago.
I bear no grudge and wish no ill will on the Police for this and I have to keep my faith that they (the police) will soon move on from this area to a more fruitful line of inquiry based on and turning up hard evidence that will eventually lead us to our lost friend who will be found (I hope) one day in the near future, and I pray alive and well.

CPS decide that there is insufficient evidence to charge any of the 4 men.
Police understandably have a very frustrating period as of course they want to solve the case and quote that due to friends and acquaintances being economic with the truth or silent, they are unable to progress things further.

Investigation closed and now becomes a “Cold Case”
Some notes about Claudia Lawrence
A hard working person with a wide circle of friends as well as a smaller close group of people. Much of her socialising but not all, is centred around the Nags Head public house.
What we have learnt so far is that she does not spend every night there and varies between nights out in York City centre, with Jen and Suzy. More of a girly night out.
It is also suggested that CL would meet others in city centre or a pub in Acomb. Away from the prying eyes of the Nags locals.
There does appear to be a side of her that she didn’t want even her close male and female friends aware of.
Missing Items
A backpack, likely to be containing:
Chef Whites for work
Curling Tongs
House keys?
The DVD
Mentioned by a Reditt poster.
Allegedly CL was on a DVD with other men, whose identity was masked.
The daughter of one of CLs previous partners had found this in his car.
It is likely that police were aware of this but due to already upsetting family over CL character earlier, did they want this information released to media?
Where other females involved in this activity then or in the future?
In summary
It was known that Suzy Cooper was “Stood Up” on a few occasions by CL for arranged meetings at the Nags Head.
Why on every occasion that this happened did Suzy not venture a few doors along to CL’s house?
Was Suzy Cooper just allowing CL some discretion?
Her phone
The Samsung model of Phone had a battery life of 2-3 days dependent upon usage. Claudia was a prolific texter and so 2 Days is a more realistic battery life for her.
She would not normally take the charger with her to work as she would use the phone less during this time.
However if she was planning to be away from home for longer she probably would take it with her.

Keys would have allowed someone opportunity to enter her house and cover things up.

The Car that braked outside her house at 05:25-A light coloured Ford car.
A Silver car seen on same morning at 05:32 heading away from University in direction of CL house on road she normally walked along to work.
Music night at Nags Head
A regular band that played were the dunwells. They and a folk duo called two bobs used to play weekly slots Possibly in a Wednesday night
"pair of brothers?" P/SRuane, L/NHorwell.... D/J Dunwell??
One of above bore a resemblance to Light man on CCTV outside of Cost Cutters.
The Dunwells released a track titled "Elizabeth" on October 2009 possible coincidence that Elizabeth was CL middle name and not well known to many.
The band were from Leeds and they would have recorded at Stephen Harris-Their producers recording studio in Kilham, York's. 50 minutes from York and via Malton Road.

I noticed the former head accountant's business correspondence address is 75 Stockton Lane. Comparable silver car to sideshot LC CCTV is parked outside the house in 09 streetview. Neil B. He and his wife are heralded for participation in charity cycling event in a Press article. I wonder if vaguely implicated people in the investigation were offered a bit of free local PR in the aftermath...

True but the university term ended on Friday 20th March 2009 so the timing of her disappearance coincided with the university site becoming much quieter.
'It was known that Suzy Cooper was “Stood Up” on a few occasions by CL for arranged meetings at the Nags Head. Why on every occasion that this happened did SC not venture a few doors along to CL’s house? Was SC just allowing CL some discretion?' Yes I believe so - plus I read the police stated CL's curtains were often closed, which they suggested was a metaphor for her life (private vs public).
