Police investigating a double murder have named and pictured the victims, with permission from their family.

Although formal identification has not yet taken place, those who died are believed to be Clive Warrington, 67, and Valerie Warrington, 73.

Both of the victims sustained stab wounds.

Emergency services were called to Sherborne Place in Cheltenham, with a report of a serious assault, at 6.25am today.

Officers arrived to find a man with stab wounds. He was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

Following concerns for the welfare of a second person, officers visited a property in Whiteshoots Hill in Bourton-on-the-Water. They discovered the body of a woman, who had also suffered stab wounds.

A man from Cheltenham has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with both deaths, which are being linked by detectives. The suspect was arrested near to the scene in Cheltenham.

The victims, who had previously been married and later divorced, were known to him. Officers are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the ongoing investigation.

The thoughts of Gloucestershire Constabulary are with their family at this difficult time.

I wonder if this will be their son? Or perhaps someone involved in a love triangle?

Some interesting news articles in the Sun and Daily Mail regarding someone with the family name Warrington from Bourton on the Water. Might be a complete coincidence so I am not going to post the links here as it could be a common Gloucestershire name.

"We are devastated by the sudden and tragic loss of our parents.

"We thank everyone for their messages of love and support, which are of great comfort to us.

"We would like to request privacy at this time so that we can come to terms with what has happened and grieve in peace with the rest of the family."

The name mentioned in this article ties to an individual in the news in 2019 in the same area.

Must be the same guy. I'd feel a bit shaken if I was that celebrity and heard this current news.

The pair's children thanked well-wishers for the outpouring of love and support they have received.

In a statement released earlier, they said: "We are devastated by the sudden and tragic loss of our parents.

"We thank everyone for their messages of love and support, which are of great comfort to us.

"We would like to request privacy at this time so that we can come to terms with what has happened and grieve in peace with the rest of the family."

Well, I'm almost certain it's the same man.
The name is the same, the area he lives in is the same....plus the age would work out. If he was 37 in 2019 and 40 now, in 2022.

Son of murdered Clive and Valerie Warrington charged over deaths

It’s the same guy. I’m assuming that because he has now been charged there will be sub-judice rules surrounding linking the previous news (available if searched for) so maybe we can’t discuss it on here. But if I was the celebrity involved I’d be horrified (although no doubt they were at the time hence the restraining orders etc). How terrifying.

Magistrate Andy Hill sent the case to Bristol Crown Court for a bail application on Tuesday March 8.

Mr Hill told the defendant: “These charges are too serious for us to deal with, and also too serious for us to deal with any application for bail.

“At this stage we are remanding you to custody in order for you to appear at Bristol Crown Court on March 8.”
