GUILTY UK - Constance Marten & Mark Gordon charged in death of baby Victoria, GUILTY on all counts incl retrial on manslaughter, 5 Jan 2023 #9

I’ve been wondering if delays are due to MG representing himself and being incapable of complying with timing and procedure.

MG strategy of delays will cause jurors to drop out because of summer commitments?

As far as we know, the closing arguments are all finished. Judge's summing up is next ( it may have happened ? ).
There is nothing more for MG to say right now ( thankfully ). His next opportunity to speak will be in his own defence, pre sentencing.

I agree re the delays to the trial. It may be that last week ( no trial ) was due to holiday commitments for one or more jurors.

Has the delay been because Tom Little KcC has been involved in another case? Marcus Monzo - jury now brought in guilty verdict .

Is it possible the reporting has been dire due to reporting restrictions ?
You were correct about reporting restrictions.

There may have been reporting restrictions on references to the children or their removal etc that came up in court but that shouldn't prevent the press from reporting that the judge is summing up, or whatever. It's only the specific material that is restricted.

But maybe there were lengthy legal submissions about the restricted material - and even whether it should be restricted - which the press would not cover.

Please do you know if we are likely to hear more from court tomorrow (if summing up was truly finished and completed by 16.26)?

It’s not clear but I don’t think the Judge has finished summing up yet.

The trial is listed as back in court tomorrow morning, so hopefully he will be able to conclude then and send the Jury out.

Editing to add the listing for tomorrow

It does indeed.

By my rough calculations, the Judge has clocked up almost 10 hours so far.
