Sounds like it is being driven by the family; Look East spoke to Andy King from SULSAR at lunchtime. It was put to him more as a statement than a question about volunteers searching and it not being as simple as it sounded. AK replied that they have a tight- knit unit and don't know the capabilities or physical fitness of the volunteers, or what equipment they have. I know its a soundbite but no "we're grateful for the extra help" or anything.

BBM
It certainly seems to be and I do have serious doubts that an extra 30 members of the untrained public accompanying Sulsar will be of much use.

It must create a lot of organising, on the spot brief training, and supervising by trained searchers - therefore taking the trained away from searching themselves.

I think maybe in the very early days of Corrie going missing group public searches on open land may have been of some help, possibly.

I so hope that the 30 people they have recruited are from military, police or searching organisations. I'm not thinking of the effects of trauma here, but just professionalism in carrying out evidence led searches. Much can be destroyed inadvertently by careless
searchers. AJIMO.

This is EXACTLY where I'm trying to go with the maths stuff DC.
There are TWO separate problems here each with a number of problems attached to it.

First, the police state that Corrie was seen in Barton Mills/Mildenhall area between 0430 & 0800. We don't know if he had his phone with him but we may be able to marry up the phone timings later to prove or disprove other things...

BBM

I'm with Shiressleuth on this one. This reads to me that the Police are inferring Corrie was in Mildenhall/Barton Mills because the initial phone data indicated such.

As for phone ping data/maths I have to say we are missing a lot of data e.g. there are a quite a few masts between BSE and Mildenhall/Barton Mills that the phone would ping along the way giving more detailed info when combined? All we have been told about is the last ping in each area.

The comparison, that I assume has now been made, is taking all mast pings and total time taken (i.e. 28 minutes) and overlay the tachograph data. If there is say <5% variance then I would say the phone went by that bin lorry.

Anyway.....I've been out a the loop for a couple days....have I missed anything? Typical last week before Christmas at work doing last minute deliveries!

Friends who were with an RAF serviceman when he went missing are "hoping it's not the last time they see him", a station commander said.
Corrie Mckeague, 23, went missing after being separated from the group on a night out in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
Gp Capt Mick Smeath, who leaves his post at RAF Honington on Friday, said Mr Mckeague often "used to go off".
Mr Mckeague's friends knew about his "lifestyle" and "did not feel guilty", he said.
"I don't think they feel guilty," said Gp Capt Smeath. "He was used to going off on his own. They knew what his lifestyle was like. I think they are just very sad. They are hoping it's not the last time they see him." Excerpt from BBC Suffolk.

'His lifestyle'?!!! What on earth does that mean?

Not guilty about what? Why don't they (RAF) just let his friends speak?

I can only assume, that they don't feel guilty about ignoring him/abandoning him when he was hammered drunk, when in reality, maybe someone should have followed up and made sure he was back safely bearing in mind he was without them after flex.

exactly!!! Talk about inference!!! How ambiguous a reference can you make??!! Deliberately open his way of life to speculation!!!

Family will NOT be happy by this statement from RAF.

She has done everything she can (understandibly) to paint him as the perfect son, soldier and friend.

Looks as if corrie certainly wasn't as liked as his family believed

Actually having just asked that it occurred to me that maybe something is about to come out that paints his friends in a bad light? Also I see the article makes the point the commander is about to leave.

That was my first thought too! Why say that after 3 months? Looks like getting ahead of the game to me

With respect that link from the police absolutely doesn't say that Corrie was seen in the BM/Mildenhall area. It says "Enquiries and information received over the past week have led police to believe he may have been in the Mildenhall area at some point between 4.30am and 8am on Saturday 24 September"

My bolding, there has been nothing to corroborate this sine then that I can remember and as it was just over a week after he went missing it's understandable that they were considering all the options.

Is there any other link that I've missed to back this up?

Well that RAF interview was awkward to say the least! Knew his lifestyle...aren't guilty...hmmmm...often went off on his own. Then the over selling points about how popular he was etc etc.
Dont quite know what to make of it tbh

At least that now confirms that the friends were out in BSE that night

He states at the end his friends left before him so before Flex kicking out time (03:00)? Assuming they were there and Corrie was with them at some point. The way doorman (article) and manager of Flex (Look East) talked the other day made it sound like Corrie was on his own and never did meet up with his friends, though?

It is still all too vague after three months....

Well I know how I read those comments, and I think we might have been right from the beginning regarding Corrie's sexuality.

I mean:

1/ he used to "go off" (read as: go off with who knows)

2/ his friends knew about his "lifestyle" (read: experimental/gay/bi)

3/ his friends "did not feel guilty" (read: about letting Corrie go off alone from Flex on 24/09 as they knew he was planning on meeting someone later).

I'll eat my favourite hat if I'm wrong!

"

Kent Search and Rescue issued advice yesterday. This is a quote from it published by Kent online. This came after the disappearance of Ben Savage who left a nightclub over a week ago and is still missing, last seen on CCTV, by the pier. His answers will be depending on the questions put to him by the journalist and it could be that Corrie's friends not making sure he was okay or putting him in a taxi was put to him. Then he responds. The quote below is from KSAR.JMO

"When you're out at night, look after your friends. Don't let anybody walk home alone or if someone is tired or has had a bit too much to drink, put them in a taxi to make sure they get home safely.

"Above all else, always avoid routes near water - it's just not worth the risk."

What is it with every statement is in some sort of code, can't we just have plain and simple facts! <modsnip>
