best answer on the thread, mine is wrong.

Edit. Assuming 10 weeks to search 10,000 acres it will take almost a year to search the forest. Daunting task.

Have SULSAR been searching every day though? I thought only when and where Police requested them to? For sure 50,000 total acres would be a huge task but surely they aren't going in blind? They must have targeted areas to search otherwise it really would be a very long and expensive search plus SULSAR would have commitments to others/Police etc.

40 sq miles sounds more like Thetford Forest than the Sugar Beet factory IMO. Would be interesting to know exactly what NU is thinking.

I guess we'll find out tomorrow! I don't really know what to expect. On one hand I wonder if they'll find anything, on the other I feel this will end the same way the other searches have.

I wonder what the police have been doing during the completely silent period of time for them.

Could this be the sugar beet sighting she said she was unhappy about police dismissing.

Could you remind when she said that, I thought Nicola also dismissed that sighting

It was either the forces tv docu or an interview on BBC look east that would have been shown after the docu. Around the time we were waiting to hear about why she felt betrayed .

Seems to be targeted area as you say, STV quote from story

'Ms Urquhart and 30 volunteers will join the SELSAR rescue team in an area covering 40 square miles.

She told STV News she did not want to specify the exact location of the search area but said it was an area police had already looked at.

Ms Urquhart, a serving police officer, said there are "specific lines of inquiry" that she wanted to consider.

She said: "I think there is a good chance that Corrie has passed through there or is possibly still there.

"If we don't find Corrie I'm not going to stop. I'm going to keep on going until we find him."

She said she had been overwhelmed by the support from local people.

"Some people have travelled 200 miles to help," she said.

Am I the only one who thinks that makes no sense? They think his phone travelled in a vehicle so by saying one of the theories is he was hit by a car and then the person moved his body makes how much sense? That's without adding into the fact that he couldn't walk out of the horseshoe by ut.

As for the raf statement, it's a weird one on paper but watching him talk I think he was inferring Corrie liked a drink, had wild nights, often went off and did his own thing, whether that's going home with ladies or men isn't relevant. So odd though.

He will be leaving his post as from today.

BBC 24th October and still on MSM in other media publishers.
Police said they had received a possible sighting of Mr Mckeague heading towards Honington.
At 04:20 BST a driver saw a man walking near the Hollow Road industrial estate, at the back of the sugar beet factory.

Actually having just asked that it occurred to me that maybe something is about to come out that paints his friends in a bad light? Also I see the article makes the point the commander is about to leave.
Was this today? Very strange especially just before this search. Perhaps he/they have an inkling what has happened. What was this lifestyle? Getting r*t*rsed like the rest of them every weekend off or is there something more than that they know about? The police should immediately interview him before he leaves. That is*disgraceful.

The only problem I have with that is that there are much more direct routes back to Honington. I certainly wouldn't go that way home.

The commander leaving you mean? Yes, today is the day he left. I wonder when the interview was conducted though...seems like the article/video was timed to be released as soon as he left!

He was in the forces tv docu wasn't he? Maybe the same time

Good point. I do believe he was on the Forces TV doc and it makes sense for the RAF to do all media in one go. So this BBC video was uploaded around 5PM UK time (article says 5 hours ago) so right at the end of the working day. That can't be coincidence, IMO.

Yes I looked at it a couple of days ago as was on my mind, and even with a lift part of the way, he was not far from base. I was looking to see if there were any recycling places that way, when we were looking at the bin lorry. Also looking if he could take a wrong turn anywhere, say at the roundabout if he got a lift to there or took any wrong road. Shiresleuth had a look at the Map for other roads as I am not from the area, and not great on Map reading unless basic! It had been ruled out and this search likely to be because of new information in Thetford Forest as STV report states, quoting Nicola.

Hey, they can always call him back at whatever time in the future but it would be much better if his colleagues would step up to the mark and come forward. IMO I really hope that the necessary information required to resolve this case has been restricted by MOD.

Actually, leaving aside Hollow road being the wrong road to take, going the Eastgate Street, A143 and Brand Road way always made more sense to me than taking the A134 which to me would be far too dangerous on foot.

From the Horseshoe that would be the way I would go if I knew the place well even allowing for having a drink.

Family will NOT be happy by this statement from RAF.

She has done everything she can (understandibly) to paint him as the perfect son, soldier and friend.

Looks as if corrie certainly wasn't as liked as his family believed
The SC can leave the statement hanging in the air. He is quite clever as he really can leave it on base and move onto his next job. The next question is how the New SC will manage this as he could look at it factually and say based on no foul play and Corries 'lifestyle' all evidence points to he is awol and clear his room. Checkmate ! Imo

Interesting that the grandparents and father want to state this in open support of the police right now.

Corrie’s grandparents praise ‘quiet heroes’ police

The grandparents of missing airman Corrie McKeague have called the police ‘quiet heroes’ in the search for their grandson. “You don’t realise how much time and effort the police put in and how much they give of themselves personally and professionally until something like this happens,” says grandmother, Mary McKeague.

Corrie’s grandfather Oliver added: “And sometimes they end up taking so much criticism. It’s sad and unhelpful. “What we’ve seen has been nothing short of incredible and we support their efforts 100 per cent. There’s so much that goes on behind the scenes and we can’t thank them enough.”

Oof...The timing stings, too. I'm getting to the point of just straight out asking one of the parties to just spit out what is going on here.

40 square miles is more than half of Thetford forest. I need to catch up on all this news.
