A 26-year-old man has gone missing from his home in Saltcoats and his family are appealing for information as to his whereabouts.

Corry Ferguson was last seen on Tuesday, March 1 at the Spar on Wheatley Road buying items that his family say are in his house on James Reid Wynd at the moment.

His sisters Raigan and Grady said he's left items at home that he would normally have had with him.

He did however take his mobile phone with him, but that has been going to voicemail when they try to call it.

Raigan said: "He lives on his own. It’s not like him to go missing, as he likes his own home comforts. He had left personal items behind that he would also usually take with him."

She added: "He hasn’t disappeared before, this is so unlike him. We have no idea where he would have gone or what state of mind he was in. He had his mobile with him but it's going to voicemail and the police have been informed and treating this as a high risk case."

The crumbling remains of bomb factory buildings were scoured yesterday as the hunt for a missing Ayrshire man continued.

Members of the public forensically searched the grounds of ICI Nobel in Ardeer, Stevenston in a bid to trace Corry Ferguson, who's been missing for almost two weeks.

The 26-year-old Saltcoats man vanished from his home on Tuesday, March 1 with the last confirmed sighting of the man in a Spar shop on Wheatley Road in the town.

Around 100 volunteers searched the vast abandoned landscape, that was once home to an explosives factory, with some even taking to rooftops as part of the hunt.

A number of the search party could be seen on the decaying rafters of Africa House, once a staff canteen at the former bomb factory.

A drone was also used as part of the search too, organisers said.
