UK- Costessey, 4 People Found Dead In Home

  • #61
No police force would ignore a 999 with someone claiming to have harmed their child, I'd be almost certain that whatever the call said, it won't have been that.

  • #62
It's a bit odd that the wife disappears and then her sister shows up to take care of the husband. It would be more common for a member of the husband's own family to come. Was the SIL worried for the children?

*note my use of the word "disappears"
Is just based on the facts currently known to us and does not suggest she is a missing person or was reported missing.

Perhaps she was the closest relative in terms of location ? This line, from The Telegraph, sounds as though she may have lived locally

“The sister-in-law then came round to help look after him

The sister-in-law lives in Thailand and came to the UK just a few weeks ago.
(I posted the husband's FB previously where she has liked photos)

Interesting how some of the articles are being worded around “where father and daughters died”. I think I’m reading that as though the father and daughters were the victims here but that’s JMO and perception.

Norfolk police failed to answer 999 call from house where dad and two daughters died

It’s very easy to assume the father is responsible because that’s generally how these cases go, but considering the mystery around the wife and SIL, I am trying to keep an open mind.

Yes, the wording has very much caught my attention too. It's very similar wording to other cases where the perp is usually the one not focused upon in the reporting

I’m glad it isn’t just me who feels this way. Poor, poor family :(

Yes it's very easy to make presumptions based on the usual turn of events, especially when a male is reported to have 'mental health issues'.

I suspect it might not be as clear cut as first thought and probably why the police are holding so much back and been at the house so long

Norfolk Police has referred itself to the independent watchdog, saying it did not respond to a 999 call from a house where a family was later found dead.

An emergency call was made from a man in a house in Costessey, near Norwich, at 06:00 GMT on Friday. Police resources were not deployed.

Officers later forced entry to the property at 07:15 and found the bodies of a man, woman and two young girls.

The force has referred itself to the Independent Office of Police Conduct.

It is the second referral the force has made to the IOPC following the deaths.

The force confirmed its officers were also called to the same house on 14 December as part of a missing persons inquiry and said that particular investigation would now be re-examined.

On Friday, police forced entry to the house in Allan Bedford Crescent following a call from a member of the public.

All four people who died were found with injuries and post-mortem examinations will be held to establish cause of their deaths.

Do we know if SIL is mum's sister? Just that in my head when I read it I automatically assumed it would be a SIL from his side of the family.

I simply cannot wrap my head around why the little girls were murdered??

They were innocent.
They had whole life ahead of them.

Neighbours described them as sweet and very nice.

In fact, the whole family was described as friendly.

Why do adults mix kids into their problems?
Adult problems.

Absolutely terrible case :(

Were the parents divorced?
What happened to mother?
Why did she leave the kids?
How could a man with MH issues be the carer of children?
Did he undertake any psychiatric treatment?

This case really shook me as BK is my compatriot.

In regards to the dad having MH issues, we do not know this impacted his parenting in any way.

People can have mental health, disabilities and sometimes even addictions that do not impact their parenting.

Let's not tar all parents with MH issues as bad parents

I agree. Many, many parents have MH issues. It doesn't mean they are automatically unfit to look after their kids.

Taken from the link in Skigh's post #47 -

Mr Kuczynski's Thai-born wife Nanthaka Kuczynska who was known as Nan had reportedly not been seen by neighbours for months.

Others said that her sister had recently moved in to help care for the girls and Polish-born structural engineer Mr Kuczynski who had been suffering from mental health issues.

You're making a lot of assumptions that may not be true, IMO. I haven't seen any confirmation that he had mental health issues (just people saying so) or that he was incapable of caring for children even if he did.

Of course.
But the outcome in THIS case is terrible.
Children are DEAD.

I don't want to argue.
But, it is not common that a mentally disturbed parent is the SOLE carer of minor children.

Who was taking care of kids when father went missing in December?

Was sister in law a legal guardian?

Please link to where it is stated he was 'mentally disturbed'

Please remember the children were in school, any issues with their care would have been raised by the safeguarding lead there. There are no reports of social services being involved either.

Of course there seemed to be issues IMO.

After all, their mother vanished.
Nobody saw her for many months.
Is it all right?
Is it OK for kids?

Then, father went missing in December.
Police were contacted.

That was reported in the links in this sad thread.

Mother might have her own issues. We do not know where the mother is at the moment, nor the reasons why she left. Nor do we know why dad went missing (was found nearby) in December or that the children were put in any danger. There's lots of assumptions being made here I feel.

Children do not automatically suffer due to having one parent present. I'm sure the children appeared happy and healthy, as we've nothing to suggest otherwise.

The circumstances around their death and the adults deaths are unclear still.<modsnip>
