Chief Inspector Scott McCarren of Maryhill Police Office previously said: "We are extremely concerned for Gregor as he has never been missing before and there are no confirmed sightings of him since Tuesday 2 July. Gregor’s family are absolutely devastated by his disappearance as it is completely out of character for him not to keep in contact with his family and friends.

The last sighting of him was in Twechar but they're searching Bonybridge which is about a three hour walk away. I'd search around the Kilsyth area first and take it from there.

The Glasgow Evening Times reports:

Gregor has been missing since the start of July. The 32-year-old was last captured on CCTV at around 10.20pm on July 2. The footage, which cops released, shows the missing man walking eastbound on the Forth and Clyde Canal path at Twechar Bridge in Kilsyth.

A number of people also reported seeing Gregor walking on the canal path between 8pm and 10pm on the same night. The sightings were at Bishopbriggs heading towards Kilsyth and in the Twechar area of the path. He was also seen on CCTV near to the Auchinstarry Marina in Kilsyth around 10.50pm the same night.

Cops also revealed that the white Ford Fiesta he left his home in was found parked on Grovepark Street in Maryhill, near to Firhill football ground.

So did Gregor park his car in Maryhill and walk all the way to Kilsyth that evening via the canal path? According to Google maps that's about 15 miles.

Yes he parked at Grovepark Street and walked at least to Kilsyth where he was last picked up on camera. If you were into walking it wouldn't be that unusual to do this but his journey was out of character as he was meant to go to work and he didn't tell anyone his plans.

It would take another 2 and a half hours ish to walk to Bonnybridge so I'm very wary of the unverified sighting in that area, it would have been dark and after midnight by the time he got there.

Drove by the Auchinstarry area earlier and it's cordoned off. I'm hesitant to speculate because it could be something else entirely like someone went in the canal to cool off in this heat or something.

I'm with you though, Ironside, I do think the search efforts should be focused around there.

❌❌ IMPORTANT UPDATE : TOMORROWS SEARCH CANCELLED ❌❌

Due to recent discovery of items believed to be Gregor’s, both the family and police are requesting that the search be called OFF tomorrow so the Police can conduct their own search.
We have no further information to provide at this time, we will update when we can.
On behalf of myself & Gregors family, we’d like to thank each and every person who was willing to participate in this search.

Hence the reason why the Auchinstarry area was cordoned off earlier, as per AnnesCuthberts post.

I presume the police would have searched this area shortly after Gregor went missing, i wonder why they didn't find these items then? Unless they had been well-hidden for some reason?

The polive wouldn't have started searching where these items were found. They would have slowly moved along the canal from the last known sighting. It takes a long time to thoroughly search underwater.

I think it's likely the items were well hidden in the canal....

From what I could tell I believe they were searching along the canal last night at various bridge points. Police helicopter was out and seemed to be going the Kirkintilloch-Kilsyth path.

Rest In Peace Gregor

I would guess he was discovered last night and the helicopter was being to make sure nobody unauthorised got anywhere near the area. It may have been a complicated task removing him from the water.

It's sad that so many young men end up in bodies of water.
