[h=3]'Nothing about his behaviour that concerned me'[/h]Dr Kahn said that in January 2016, Stewart complained of knee pain, which had started after he was out walking previously. Dr Kahn prescribed him ibuprofen gel and told him to come back if the pain got any worse. “I don’t think there would have been anything about his behaviour when I met him which concerned me. If there had been, I would have acted upon it”, she added. Zopiclone is a very safe, mild, sleeping drug. It is one of the safest of this type of medication, she says.

[h=3]Not a ‘heavy duty, knockout, sleeping drug’[/h]There can be far stronger medication, she said. Dr Kahn agreed with the defence barrister that this is not a ‘heavy duty, knockout, sleeping drug.’
“None of my patients have ever recorded having such effects as falling straight asleep upon taking it”, she said. “I never saw that Stewart had come back for any more Zopiclone. He was given the 28 tablets on January 25 and to my knowledge he did not ask for any more.
“When I say Zopiclone is safe, it doesn’t have the instant effect like other medications such as diazepam. None of my patients have ever recorded any side effects with the drug.”

[h=3]End of Dr Kahn’s evidence[/h]Under re-examination by the prosecution however, Dr Kahn added that if taken in quantities it is not meant to be taken in, then Zopiclone ‘doesn’t remain safe, like any other medication’.
“I have no idea whether Stewart took the Zopiclone tablets or not, like any other patient”, she said. “I’m now aware that Stewart was seen by one of my colleagues some time after this appointment, but I don’t know anything about that, and there was no further prescription of Zopiclone.”
That is now the end of Dr Kahn’s evidence.

Ah, it just gets worse.
I had thought that the doctor who was organising the operation for IS had also prescribed the zoplicone, to help IS if he was not able to sleep with worry about the op, or post op.
But it seems that this was simply more pre planning by IS, who was already knowledgeable about zoplicone ffrom his previous previous prescriptions and chose it as the method to sedate Helen.
He also no doubt realised that he would be given the larger dose, so even better for him as this would act faster on a much smaller person such as Helen.
Wonder if there will be another GP who prescribed subsequent supplies - because Helen clearly was being given the drug over a 3 month period - or if he shopped on line ( in which case I would hope there is a web trail of his purchases ).

Zopiclone is available over the internet. See here.

http://sleeping-tablets-pills.com/

Unless he circumvented the internet, ie by letter, he could have ordered it from any number of outlets. Had he ordered it via the internet I would have hoped this would have been picked up by the legal team.

I am prescribed Zopiclone 7.5mgs, I am also an RN and this is the first time I have heard it described as mild. Memory problems with increased dosages are well documented. I have taken more than the prescribed dosage on occasion and have woken the next day with no memory of the evening before. I cannot imagine anyone being able to take the tablet crushed as it is extremely bitter

'Regular customer'
The statement is from Lorraine Gage, a pharmacy manager.
In the statement, she said: “Stewart I recognise as a regular customer as I know he picks up his monthly drugs from this pharmacy.
“I am the manager of a Tesco pharmacy in Royston, and have been for 10 years.
“Stewart collected a prescription of Zopiclone on January 26, 2016.”
Lorraine Gage said that the brand Stewart would have been given would not have been Zopiclone, because at the time the pharmacy did not stock this particular drug.

Everything I have read about this drug, from other users, confirms what you are saying here.
