The two healthcare professionals who just testified were absolutely useless in particular the psychiatric nurse. Hadn't even read her own statement, prosecution counsel had to keep prompting her to read it. Can't believe we have to rely on these people for mental health services

Thanks for all the updates.

I daren't get involved, I'm sitting on tenterhooks this morning waiting for the vet to call to let me know my sweet cat is ok. She's having her thyroid removed.

Aww hope everything goes well. It's a worrying time.

The one thing missing from this case that I'd normally expect to see from a manipulative opportunist like IS is other women. Was there really no other woman/women in the background or has he just covered his tracks well?

I don't think he'd need one until the money ran out. Then he'd probably have kept up appearances in widow groups and picked out a new likely target. He didn't want to share that money with anyone IMO.

If anyone fancies doing some of the updates after lunch, please be my guest.

Sending love to Tortoise-cat.

I bet IS is kicking himself over self-referring to all these people who saw straight through him!

Thanks LitUp the tweeting in the Cambridge News doesn't come over like that so it is extremely good that we have your input. The court reporter tweets have made them look more than adequate witnesses.

Seemed exactly what one would expect from MH profs in the UK. Their main focus is to get people discharged, not to help them.

Agree. Thanks Lit Up for the real view - they sounded good to me, just shows the image we can get, when we cant actually see the reality.

Good point, maybe he thought he'd hit the jackpot already.

You're not in Oz are you? lol

I've got 3 jumpers on, and I would prefer a hot toddy.

On the night shift, hopefully gone to bed and not nodded off with computer up nose!

I'm kind of in the same boat Moll. I wasn't at work last Thursday and Friday but was on night duty last night and am again tonight. I will probably fall asleep with the corner of my chromebook stuck up my right nostril.

Yes the two MH professionals come across well in print. In particular the psychiatric nurse who sounds like she had him sussed from the start. Interesting to hear that this isn't the experience in court though.

Following through in court is much harder - nerves for a start! But, she/they should have been up to speed on their statements 'tis true.

Sophia Hersh is a jeweller, who knew Helen Bailey because in June 2014 Helen wanted an engagement ring model she had previously created. Julia tells jurors: “We created the original ring from her marriage to John Sinfield and we remodelled this in 2016. “On March 8, 2016 she came to my premises with a man she introduced me to as Ian Stewart. “She said she had met someone new, explained they were engaged, and that she was looking for an engagement ring. “We discussed design ideas for just over an hour. Stewart was there as well but Helen was the one interested in discussing specifics. “Ian Stewart was a little bit detached from the process, not particularly engaged, so I very much discussed things with Helen throughout the visit. “We settled on a design and spoke about prices. Helen loved pink diamonds, which are the rarest of the three colour options we were discussing. “The price for the ring was likely to vary from £11,000 to £14,000.

“In March Helen told me Stewart had been poorly but he was finally out of hospital. “Our email moved on to more exciting things and we moved on to the engagement. “Helen said Stewart was concerned the price for the ring was too much, and I offered her a £500 discount. The final cost was going to be £13,550. “At the beginning of April Helen thanked me for the discount, she said had Stewart been well enough he would have come down to see me. “I sent her details of the wedding bands and pricing, I didn’t hear back. “I sent a follow up email on April 21, but never got a response. “The wedding band was going to be £920 - so the total cost would be about £14,500.”

I wonder why the police took another statement from Gill Currie on 1 Feb (last week).
