Michelle (230) (because there are two Michelle's on WS. I am so sorry for the loss and pain and inconclusion you have experienced through the loss of your Husband and Daughter. No words can soothe you - but a hug, some good times together, and to listen is all we can offer - except to support your belief in a future beyond agony - and in your beautiful nature, where you hope to see Justice for other live's taken.

And to say thank you for taking the time to be in Court - not your most comfortable place to be - and report back to WS in always a sensitive, and helpful way.

And to say WOW for your eloquent post on your experience of how it is to be there at St Albans during this terrible Trial - where all of of our lives have stopped a little, as if our breath is held, whilst we cannot focus much on anything else until Justice is done for Helen and Boris - and Helen's family .. and for OS and JS too.

Thank you xx

I don't think Nick and JoeDave were invented until after he saw the prosecution case against him.

when Daines gave one of her testimonies she said Ian also raised kidnapping as a motive having been bandied about after she went missing

My mental note at that stage was wtte - I don't believe you Ian. I don't believe anyone mentioned kidnapping. I do believe it was you that considered this during a much earlier planning phase and then crossed it off your list as just too complicated.

This was way back in April. Will see if I can find the link.

kidnapping - apparently this comment was made to cops on 22 April
Police ask Stewart if there is anything that makes him suspect there could be a third party involved in Helen’s disappearance.
He replied: “Someone mentioned kidnapping, she has got enough money to be a target I guess, but not many people would know that.”

BIB Yeah right Ian,
UL - that's why he crossed this scenario off his list way back in 2015, IMO ( and then felt he had to re-introduce it again, naturally)

ETA It may solve the puzzle we had last week - how did he check the diaries considering he was inside from 15 Jul - to the extent that he could make the Def team aware of the Sinfield mentions? ie he made a mental note of these way back many months ago.

At least now I know why HE had to have his own "study", just as Helen had her writers room LOL

And just seen NetEd's funny emoji of IS at his computer, so here's some of him in his study or his cell:

Yes I remember that now you mention it.

ETA I see you've found it.

No guessing who's at the centre.

I meant to ask Michelle if he had notes spread out in front of him. Would that even be allowed I wonder? He made references to certain dates which surprised me.

I am fairly sure he is not allowed to have any notes. He can read his statement before he goes into the witness box but has to remember the whole sorry story once there. I hope I have got that right.

I only looked at this the other day. From memory other witness may have notes but not the defendant. I will see if I can find a link.

Those Sky tweets certainly gave a better flavour of the proceedings than we've had from Cambridge News.

Thank you Websleuthers for all the research today - connecting back to statements made - highlighting falsehoods before IS took his stand in the Witness box, believing he had concoted the most brilliant story ever.

I would like Strimmer to ask the defendant. ' Do you consider Helen a wonderful writer? - Does she sometimes embellish the truth to make her point? Do you consider yourself a man of clever words?
Did you hope to employ your gift of words to help all those who loved Helen, to suggest you were searching for her too? Did you employ a writer's ability towards fiction to sway the Court and Jury toward believing in your written statements?
I propose to you Mr Stewart that this Court and Jury - are not able to 'suspend disbelief' in your weak and fabricated story.
AND did you employ your obvious gift of words to entice Helen towards you, so that you could gain her wealth whilst ensuring her vulnerable Widowed time would make her fall in love with YOU? ( I wanted to add fall in love with that which would be IMPOSSIBLE when one is strong - but that just complicates Strimmer's more subtle attack.

No he would not be allowed notes on the stand. He might be asked to read from a police statement he already made but you'd know about it, and it doesn't happen very often in my experience. He may have notes in the dock but I think only those he has made during that day's hearing. Defendant's sometimes pass notes they have made to their brief. Obviously won't be happening now because he's the witness.

Yes, we'll have to have those pasted in on Monday, there's been so much evidence that we've been rather remiss on WS in scouring for accuracy.

The Sky reporter seems a lot happier to report on IS' demeanour than the dry Cambridge local reporting. One to watch tomorrow!

Did net say something?

Dunno but I name checked her on this page a couple of posts ago as I'd just laughed at one of her posts.
Could be that it's her old BF posting on her account and she's gone for an early night.

Hear hear. I'm glad that Michelle was lucky and got one of of the public seats. I'm sure she wouldn't have been spiteful had things gone otherwise though.

I know it's not notes, but in the Butler murder trial JG had a photo of Ellie that she carried with her from the dock to the witness box every day, and made a big show of stroking her fingers over throughout her evidence. The judge said to her 'I can see that it very important to you, don't forget to take it with you' or wtte, and she said back to him 'yes, I'd like to enter this into evidence if I may'. They never took her up on the request.

<modsnip>

Roll on Monday and hearing "S.Trimmer" cutting him down to size.
