A murder victim whose body was found in woodland in Salford is believed to be missing Northern Quarter chef, Hiran Chauhan, say police.

In a statement GMP said: "A man aged 32 from the Salford area has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.

24-year-old Hiran, from Seedley, Salford, did not return home from work following a shift at El Capo restaurant. He finished work at around 10.30pm on Tuesday, July 2nd and began making his way home with a friend. They both visited the McDonald's in Piccadilly Gardens then travelled home on a tram, first at Market Street and then another tram at St Peter's Square. CCTV footage shows Hiran got off the tram at Cornbrook at 11.08pm. He would normally then catch a tram towards Salford and get off at Langworthy. Further footage shows Hiran got off the tram at Langworthy at 11.31pm, but Hiran never returned home to the room he rents in a house share.

In a statement GMP said: "While formal identification is yet to take place, police believe this to be the body of 24-year-old Hiram Chuahan who was reported missing on Thursday 4 July 2019. His family have been informed."

I'm guessing it's due to the state of the body, either decomposition has been accelerated by the warm weather and being wrapped in plastic or there was some attempt to hinder identification of the body

How sad. Wonder what on earth the motive could be. Rip.

Generally, I don't think police intentionally release false information to the public, but, here, they may have wanted to relax the suspect(s), and buy a bit of time.

...The grim discovery was made by school children using the wood as a cut through.

Hiran was brought up in the Greater Manchester area but had moved to Birmingham as a teenager where he trained to be a chef.

Police have issued an appeal for video footage captured in the area as they try to identify the killer.

Detectives investigating the case have made a specific appeal for anyone who has video or photos from Eccles Old Road, between Weaste Lane and Castleway including Rivington Road, between 11.10pm on Tuesday, July 2 and 9am Tuesday, July 9.

Police are also interested in any sightings of a silver Suzuki Swift registration number DG03XKE in the same period of time.

According to DVLA records, the car was first registered in March 2003.

It is taxed until July 1, 2020, but the MOT expired on July 2 this year.

So he (Neil Cuckson) admits supplying the drugs but not administering them "to endanger life".

I suppose they think hiding the body shows consciousness of guilt? Or they have some other evidence showing malicious intent. Maybe they weren't friends.
