Looks as though they haven't yet agreed a verdict on Jake. (So I was right about Friday, lol)
Ben is to be sentenced tomorrow, so no time being wasted there.

Quite shocked that there was a dissenter over BB, but I suppose there are bleeding heart types people who just don't want to find anybody guilty.

He looks as if he's had the kicked out of him, as is richly deserved.

Just heard on BBC Radio news that a police spokesman has said this case is 'unique in English criminal history', for Blakeley's burying then digging up, taking a taxi and finally reburying Jayden's body in his uncle's grave. He left flowers on it too.

He certainly doesn't look like he's got it in him to do what he did (though I believed from the beginning he was a nasty piece of work, as did others on here) just goes to show that looks CAN be deceiving.

Interesting that he left flowers on the grave. I don't think thats been reported before.. a pitiful act of remorse?

Also if I was the uncles wife, child, family member etc I'd be after his blood for desecrating the grave alone, let alone the reason why. He hasn't been charged with anything relating to the actual didturbance of the uncles grave has he? I dont think either brother has.. if I was family I wouldnt be happy about that. I know in the grand scheme of things its not the most important but id want him to pay for doing that to my loved ones grave

Seven days to decide whether to go for a retrial. I can't see them bothering, personally, as he can still be sentenced for the PCJ charge which he has admitted.

Re Jake: Jury have been discharged over the preventing a lawful burial charge. CPS have seven days to consider whether to go for retrial, if they decide not to then he will be sentenced on august 22 for the other charge of perverting the course of justice

Yes, for a while I did think that he should have some credit for burying her in "a proper place", but not now those details have been revealed.

The judge says "to a limited extent I accept that you began to have feelings of guilt about where you had buried her." Well, I don't agree. I think if he had left her where he first buried her, there would have been a good chance that somebody's dog would have found her. I bet that's what preyed on his mind, and why he moved her. People don't usually take their dogs into graveyards.

It surprises me that there's apparently no precedent for burying a murder victim in an established grave. Makes you wonder if it's actually been done many times - successfully. :thinking:

Indeed it does! Didn't he commit a crime by disturbing a pre existing grave? I haven't seen any charges in relation to that.. small change I guess in the grand scheme of things.

Still, this "man" will only be 42 when released if he behaves inside. I don't think this is the last we've heard of him.

Judge did take that into account when sentencing, paras 14 & 15.

Noted. However it is a legal offence to disturb human remains and their place of burial so I guess I was just expecting some seperate charges solely relatibg to that

Jake has to go through it all again - they decided to go ahead with a retrial.


And there's an enquiry over the way police dealt with the search for Jayden, with misconduct charges hanging over five officers.
