I am a local citizen I am not disturbed by this and do not feel the need for an explanation if it would jeopardise the case. It's common sense to say we all walk and live nearby sexual predators but don't know it. They're everywhere.

Well I am disturbed and I’m not even from hull. I’ve spoke to several Hull uni students and they’re scared stiff to go anywhere alone at the moment because there’s potentially a killer on the loose and a young father of 2 remanded on sexual offenders!! Safe to say everyone is creeped out

Personally, I think they have already got the predator in custody, but you're right, with no charges brought in relation to Libby there could still be someone out there.

I wonder if University students have been told to keep an eye out for dangers. I remember when I was a student at Leeds there was a string of incidents in Headingley (the main student area), and the Uni issued rape alarms to every student who wanted one along with self defence workshops and free late buses. Anything like that happening in Hull?
I think I read that Hull Uni have offered both counselling and safety sessions, also the general awareness is quite high I would say.

Id ask the supposed Hull Uni student upstairs for more info but the door is booby-trapped

No that's what I was trying to say! I mean he may have generally planned what he'd do to someone, not that he was targeting Libby or someone in her exact situation that night.

I agree. I definitely don't think he was targeting her specifically but I think he may have started to plan what he'd do with someone. His last burglary looked too well planned, given what he likes to steals, to be random. A sexual opportunist would have made mistakes and evidence would have been found. He even had a ready made story to feed his sister.

Erm I’ll havw to disagree with you there.. I think the police owe us a very in depth explanation, especially to the people who live in hull and may be within walking distance of a sexual predator!!

I think you’re being a little sensational. On what level do you NEED to know?

To me, that gear fumble combined with the previous multiple locking/unlocking, could suggest someone who is flustered for some reason, put off their normal routine. Getting in and driving off is so habitual, that when one is under stress or something unusual occurs to screw up the routine, that's when you do stupid stuff like drive off without putting your headlights on, or with the handbrake still engaged.
Or someone in an unfamiliar car they have "borrowed"

There is, has and always will be the potential of such attacks taking place, especially if one is alone. Regardless of whether we are aware of them or not, predators, attackers, call them what you will live amongst is everywhere.
Like you I have connections with the uni and my experience is they are very understanding of Libbys parents and the Police as they and everyone else concerned do not want to jeopardise the case.

As the public spectrum I feel we need to know updates regarding this case. If you trace your minds back to the Becky Watts case or Tia Sharp or Shannon Matthews, the public were kept in the loop. I think the Hull police force are possibly the worst in the United Kingdom.

Depending on context ,I would say its also worth considering that someone local to , or who frequents, a specific Avenue refer to it in that way, someone not local or familiar to it would use more formal name for that specific Avenue but they still may use 'The Avenue' to mean a different Avenue more specific to them.

I would say it indicates a main throughroad or retail Avenue rather than a smaller domestic Avenue though?

The Avenue pub is also a good call imo.

I just wondered if it was said in the context of
Mostly we'll say Newland Ave but it is also known as the Avenues .
That makes more sense than them meaning one of the actual Avenues. Why didnt I think of that? Lol

Is The Piper Club on Newlands Avenue?

If you feel you should be kept more informed by the police I suggest you email them directly with your concerns.

A group of us contacted hull live earlier and they’ve been really helpful in relaying our concerns to the police

My heart breaks for LS parents..not knowing if she is alive is she being kept somewhere, what is happening to her or if she is dead.. they don't owe the public any press conference. .as for LE I do think they have their man but it's getting more evidence built to charge him with her disappearance...I do think if it had not been Libby that night he would do it to someone soon..I've seen people joke about what he is accused of stealing..I personally do not think it's funny breaking into someone's own private space stealing underwear or vibrators or exposing himself. I think this person is sick in the head and through time his confidence is growing. I really hope and pray that libby is found soon..or if he has done anything to her then to stop putting her parents through hell and just tell them where she is..

The police are supposed to protect the community, and work for them. Whilst LS's parents rightly deserve an explanation (and justice, if relevant), and should 100 per cent be in the loop before anyone else, the safety of people living in the local area should be of paramount importance.

If a female has been snatched off the street by a stranger and serious harm has come to her, that is terrifying. Predators who do that usually do not stop at one (e.g. Christopher Halliwell).

The police say they have an "open mind". What does that mean? Do they think it could have been an accident? Are they looking for anyone else?

Amen to this!! We as the public need to know these basic things.

Newsflash...going on crimes of a sexual nature the chances are you are in walking distance of a sexual predator no matter where you live.

Do you not think that if the police thought for one minute there was a risk to the public they would have said so?

Have some faith in them, the fact they are not asking for help and doing constant appeals says to me they know they have the right guy they just need more to make charges stick.

As for Libbys parents their world has been turned upside down their daughter is most likely dead and you think they should do a press conference?

I think they should do whatever they feel they need to do to get through the day personally.
