Deceased/Not Found UK - Margaret Fleming, 19, Inverclyde, Scotland, 17 Dec 1999 *Guilty*

Good spot @Antonia. I'd assume after the preliminary hearing but I'm not sure. If I remember rightly, bail hearings are typically done in the afternoon? (At least they are at the sheriff court level in my town). Will be keeping an eye on the news then.

Honestly, I think the CPS(?) have cocked up by bringing a murder charge with no body, no forensics and no evidence.

The Twits got away with it, whatever "it' is. The best we can hope for is a stiff sentence for benefit fraud....

This saddens me, on Margaret's behalf :(

I'm more angry than sad right now. What a joke! I don't know what they can do though, realistically, without any apparent evidence of murder.

My gut feeling says Margaret was abused, humiliated, beaten and neglected by (mainly) Cairney and probably died in a sad state of malnutrition before being thrown in the sea.

I'm fuming!!

Me too Cags. There has to be more to this than we are hearing surely? Murder without a body has been proven before but difficult - though maybe not in Scotland ??
Been googling what the judge said but that wasn't much help.
Could someone report seeing Margaret after the dates in the charge ?? Where does Proof Of Life come in to this ?? Angry and wringing hands here.

Take heart - it could be something to do with "Soshul Medyaa" after all. The trial hasn't been abandoned yet.

From DM article above:
No explanation was given in court for the trial collapsing, but Lord Matthews said that it was not the fault of either the prosecution or the defence counsel.

He told the court: 'I will desert the trial pro loco et tempore. As a result of circumstances we can't proceed. It is highly unfortunate all this has arisen.'

Prosecutor Iain McSporran, QC, said: 'I move for the trial to be deserted and for a fresh preliminary hearing and fresh trial to be set. I also think a brand new indictment.'

He got bail and left without his wheelchair

Eh? Is AJ wanting to stay in prison?

Prosecutor Iain McSporran QC told the court that the Crown would not oppose bail for Ms Jones if she changes her mind.

He added: "The Crown does intend to re-indict this case. A trial might take place in April next year. That is the current intention."

Murder accused left without a wheelchair

I am flabbergasted, horrified, speechless that he got bail. I'll be back later, when I've calmed down a bit, to read more of the links above.
