Whilst this was not unexpected, ones heart still breaks for this precious boy.

If, heaven forbid, one of my dear children should ever wander out of the house without my knowledge, dear Lord, may it be in Scotland. Bless those people who left no stone unturned in their determination to find the wee lad.

I made a point on the first thread about why Mikaeel was reported missing when he was and the reports of a man leaving the house early that morning in a hurry ;can't find those reports now but I definitely remember reading it) could it be it was a relative trying to see Mikaeel and upon him not being there his mother coming up with her 'Story' of him being there the night before, and having to report him missing? Why else report him missing that morning?

Rip poor boy, as a father to a 3 year old it's hard to comprehend.

Terrible stuff.
I'm confident that the body will have been found outside, not far from Dunvegan Ave (property in which RA lived, owned by parents and now possibly occupied by sister) in a wooded area.
Clearly LE will have had great suspicions from the start but I don't believe they will have been absolutely certain [as they are often], otherwise they couldn't have gone through with coordinating public search.
So this means it's more complicated, I think.
Likewise the fact that mother has been arrested (contrary to some discussions, she *has* been arrested, since to have been "detained", rather than simply helping with inquiries" etc is the same) rather than charged suggests that it's not cut and dried.
My feeling is that Mikaeela will have died from neglect and that there was an attempted cover-up, rather than through a "straightforward" (that sounds awful...) murder. I'm inclined to think that the fact that we'll learn the body was left at a location that ties in with RA's personal history suggests that it wasn't thought out at all. But I'm also inclined to think that it happened some while before the report that Mikaeela had disappeared since I'm confident that there would have been number plate records of crossing the Forth Bridge that would have led to a swift arrest if they'd been from the night of the claimed disappearance.
Just my thoughts on the matter...
---
But then: according to Sky the police aren't interested in the surrounding area of the Dunvegan property at the moment but rather that the cordoned area is to prevent access. So I guess I'm maybe wrong about the woodland.
Additionally, the reporter (not sure who it was -- not Brunt) said that there's currently a "dynamic" scene in Edinburgh itself and fast developments.

Here is a picture of this precious angel!

Hollye

My eyes are leaking now. What an adorable little man. How could someone look at that face and do ANY harm to him. Sweet little angel-R.I.P. Know that people all over the world were sending you love.

Mikaeel is the little boy I've dreamed of having for years. :please:

I wish these damn parents would give their children to people who want them.
Instead of destroying whatever that child could have been in the future.

We have tried so hard for years now, to add a brother to our family...
Yet once again someone didn't appreciate the beautiful little boy they had. :twocents:

This picture kills me.
The "Here Comes Trouble" shirt will forever be a Caylee thing.
And the frozen treat he's eating will forever remind me of Ame.
Of course, he's a twin... Juliette was also a twin.

Mostly though... it's the unlikely dream of having a little boy like him....
Along with the knowledge that so many people don't appreciate the treasure they are given.

The body of a young boy was found in Fife shortly before midnight, police said, and they
"strongly believe this to be the body of Mikaeel".

I second everything you wrote. I would love to have given my daughter a little brother. I hope your dream comes true someday. <3

Sky's Martin Brunt just tweeted Mikaeel's body was thought to have been found in a relatives home in kirkaldy

IN THE HOUSE?
Tell me that is a typo and they mean the crawlspace/attic/basement.
How would they not know his body was there? :please:

I woke up to this news.

Sky are definitely saying found in the house - one of their journos:

Gerard Tubb @TubbSky
The bungalow in Dunvegan Avenue has been sealed off since midnight. Forensics confirmed the find

I guess this explains the "vague" nature of the presser yesterday evening. The timeline wasn't adding up but they wanted or needed to keep it quiet until they had an idea where Mikaeel might be, in case others involved were panicked into moving him.

I guess lots more will come out over the day.

My heart goes out to the people of Edinburgh who gave up their time so willingly - and in some cases may have given up one or two days salary - to search for a missing child.

Sky News update at 8am: Ok so apparently his body is in the ground behind the bungalow and remains there at this time for forensic purposes.
Showing people leaving floral tributes including families with small kids :(

I've tried to type an appropriate response for over three minutes now. They get harder as the years pass on...

Mikaeel was a handsome young man and this entire situation is really unfair.

It has warmed my heart at the response the community showed in finding this young man, and how strong and steady you all were the entire time. I hope that Mikaeel is able to know how much somehow.

Okay, so buried behind the bungalow makes a lot more sense...
It's more likely the people inside would not know that.

Desperately sad to wake up to this news, and disappointed that my suspicions about the 'overnight disappearance' were correct :(

It sounds to me as though they may have had a tip off as to where he could be found. I very much doubt they had been able to search every single member of the family's property in the time given, particularly the land behind as well. For that I am grateful, particularly after watching how many tens of thousands of hours were spent looking for April.

I think this is the bungalow on street view
