I also wouldn't get panicky if OH was 30 mins later than routine or if wasn't answering couple of calls but isn't he saying that the school then called him - about the dog tied-up & phone & no Nicola - so that would create panic. It's at this point he called cops?
Yes he called on the way there if im not mistaken. We both said wed rather get there first and confirm the info is correct, its our dog, phone, make sure we didnt reappear in the time it took us to get there and just in general suss out the situation for ourself…its a big leap to call 999 for us.

Black eyes resolve to a yellow/brown state in a period of about two weeks. The first interview didn't happen until a week after the disappearance, and the eye in question was furthes from the camera. Today's interview is two weeks down the line. Most black eyes are fully healed in three weeks.
Yes and there was nothing of note, not today or a week ago. I am sure LE would have noted if he had any bruising as they have been in contact every day. (Edit to change timing)

Wouldn’t say black eye, but looks like potential bruise on orbit/cheekbone - where you’d expect to see a bruise if it had been knocked/punched etc. But no breaks to skin. Could just be a knock. Don’t think full on black eye cos would get different pattern of bruise. But a def potential bruise.
Agreed

I don't see a black eye. If he does have a bruise it's probably because he has been clumsy due to his circumstances.

With regards to PF, how can he categorically say that Nicola didn't fall into the river? So what if there are stones there? It's possible she fell backwards. She was wearing a heavy hooded coat which would have caused her to lose her buoyancy pretty quickly, along with the freezing cold water. Could be the reason why there is a lack of scuff marks? Surely it's impossible to predict how a body would behave in the water. There are so many possibilities, weight, clothing, under currents etc.

I think people should remain open minded. My thoughts are with the family.

As for the partner waiting for Nicola's return, I went through a similar situation when my brother in law was in a fatal RTA. His wife and I sat there waiting for an hour and a half before we went looking. I think it's only human nature to think they've been delayed for some reason.

Interesting, thanks.

Just been discussing with the wife and we both agree that even if I couldn't get in touch with her after half an hour or so of being due home, it wouldn't result in me sticking my gear on to go out for a look around.

Each family is different of course, but this makes me think that there's some Comms being kept back by police (and rightly so).
Same. Myself and partner take dog walks in turn . We’re always out for approximately an hour on our regular circuit. It always varies depending upon who you might bump into and chat with. I don’t think either of us would go looking for each other unless we were drastically late back.
I read what he said and thought that was quite dramatic.. to go looking for her after just bring 15 - 20 mins late. But as you say, each family is different!

I hope Chan 5 put the interview on catch-up for those who haven't watched yet. If anyone sees the link go up, please could you post it?

I'm not watching the programme but the post from a few pages back said he was prepped and ready to go before the school called him - which implies that he might have already known something was amiss. JMO

This was after her received the call from the school. If I’ve been trying to call my partner for 20 minutes, and she’s not with her phone and our dog has been abandoned, I’m calling the police.
I hear you. Personally wed want to confirm the dog and phone situation firsthand to ensure its not some misunderstanding.

One take home from the programme - the police do the work but it’s the public solve crimes - very true. That’s why this programme was fundamentally important.

A key piece of info was that all the walkers on that spot know each other so a non regular would have stood out. So either it’s someone who fits right in or they were hiding/came in quickly from outside.

No, thats not what we're seeing. That's under his eye. We're seeing it on the hard corner of his cheek bone.
Yes - on the prominent edge of the cheekbone

IMO it is possible that this is a suicide story and the reason for searching initially in the River.

That is interesting. Presumably the automatic reflex of closing up the airway would be canceled out if the individual died. In which case IMO presumably water would enter the lungs.

Are you saying that drowning victims do not have water in their lungs when recovered?

I would say that if they do then they inhaled water (not deliberately) and this is what made them sink.”dry drownings” are possible but it requires inhalation to have water in the lungs.
Unfortunately Faulding started a lot of this! ( Along with the fallacy that this river is easy to search & she could never have made it to the sea etc)
Also can't help wondering the impact that kind of endless disinfo has on her partner
Yes I fully respect his searching ability and ability to recover bodies from water when detected. But his public communications are very self absorbed and gratuitous and I think he is seriously messing with Nikki’s family and friends. I find it quite frightful, his patent need to influence a vulnerable person. Not saying it’s malicious but at best it’s very self absorbed.

Have family members who work in areas involving sudden bereavement and you have to be so careful what family members latch on to.

That's exactly what i can see.

Alternative View:

How are ongoing financial disputes handled in Northern England? Is Lancashire a "tough town"?

Just wondering if this scenario is a common occurrence is certain businesses: (??)

a) Person has business problems. S/he can't pay a debt.

b) After more threats, and consequent non-payment, Someone comes around and roughs him/her up.

c) Upon leaving, Debt-Collector says, "If you don't pay up by such-and-such a date, guess what we'll do to your Spouse?"

MOO

PA's lost his partner of 12 years, clearly distraught and yet the obsessive focus here is his appearance?
Sheesh!

PF has shown some rocky below the surface footage and contends it wasn't deep enough at that point to get into difficulty. PA says the harness was found on the river banking. So what if she had been chasing around with Willow in order to get the harness on, overbalanced and struck her head - as simple as that. So no clawing or struggling.
The footage he has is not from the day or time that Nikki disappeared and as a complex tidal river isn’t particularly helpful in addition to which they don’t know where she may have entered the water.

Whether there is a bruise or not, which I think not. If any of you have sobbed and sobbed at any time you will know the marks it leaves. This is very obviously nothing whatsoever to do with NB going missing. It is PA being scrutinized whilst begging for help.JMO

I’d panic and probably react similarly to PA, but realise that it’s not perhaps the usual reaction. But none the less a usual reaction for me personally.

She was late and there was no answer on her phone. In my opinion it is not surprising that he was getting worried.

Interview states the harness found halfway down the embankment. Is that new?
I couldn't remember hearing that before. It just reinforces my accident theory. Maybe chasing after Willow to get the harness back on before going home. Trips, falls into water, bangs head on the rocks etc etc. Maybe.
