Sorry if this has already been asked but did we ever establish what cctv was broken? Was it to the rear of Rowanwater or Wyreside farm? Thanks

She’d have been biting the attacker or clenching her jaws on their clothing. She’d also have been barking furiously and jumping. She’d have got through/over that gate too.
How would she have got though the gate?

Aside from the river, do we know if there are any other ways out of the upper field apart from the kissing gate and the farm gate just nearby?

I can't see a way into Rowanwater, but I'm sure I read there was one.

Phone signal can‘t put phone on a bench. My phone and iPad think I’m in the flat next door.

It depends what you think the emphasis in the question is: “how can you be sure… 9.20 exactly?“ or “how can you be sure.. on the bench?”

I think the SI is answering how they know NB arrived at that area at 9.20 - from the phone signal; not how they know it was on the bench specifically.

The latest update compounds the ambiguity with ”at” so it’s still not clear.
I interpreted this as meaning after intros on the group call she must have told people she was putting it on speaker on the bench? Obviously they can't place to the bench - so I assumed by this the police meant people on the call - at the other end...

Fitbit hadn’t synched since the previous Tuesday according to friend.
That suggests that she didn't have the Fitbit app on her phone, as it would presumably automatically sync when she was carrying her phone otherwise. The app may have been on a tablet/ipad or a laptop IMO. But it surprises me, especially reading that she had a strava account, that she wouldn't put the Fitbit app on the phone for prompter updates. MOO

This seems to happen regularly
it's 9.10 am on their map at the same link but it does also have this caveat

'9.10am (approximately) – A witness – somebody who knows Nicola – saw her on the upper field walking her dog, Willow. Work is ongoing today to establish exactly what time this was.

9.20- Her phone was back in the area of the bench'

Are you able to watch that video ok? I'm getting sound but the colours are all scrambled.
It worked fine for me.. thanks very much... the only bit I'm trying to isolate is this bit
'Our enquiries now focus on the river path which leads from the fields back to Garstang Road – for that we need drivers and cyclists who travelled that way on the morning of January 27 to make contact. We have already done a lot of work around this, but every piece of footage helps us build up a picture of movements on that morning' Lancashire Constabulary - Missing Nicola Bulley - latest update

RIVER PATH from fields back to Garstang road..
I'm just wondering whether there are spots where somebody could have hidden her?
Or path from bench to river path?

Her phone and her were either at the bench together or not. So maybe just maybe they are finally considering that the phone and her were NOT at the same place at the same time.

My lord.

Not necessarily, I would have to open my FitBit app to then begin the sync manually, mine never synced automatically but maybe depends on the model?

Is it possible that they can be certain that the phone didn’t move after 9.20 until it was found, meaning it must have been on the bench at 9.20?
If that where it was found, possiBly.

I just don’t know whether what NB’s friend said was incorrect - it may have been.

Does anyone know if you can continue walking along the river under the bridge at Garstang road/Blackpool lane to the other side without exiting up to the road? See plan to show what I mean.

Putting together Peter Faulding's change of view (now she's likely in the river?), and the fact that SGI started their search below the weir (counter to what PF had said that drowning victims are usually found near to where they went in)... It seems likely that PF has been given more information from the police, and I am thinking it might be Fitbit data.
His whole attitude has changed, including his thoughts. He’s done a complete U-turn.

It’s a pity he didn’t establish the facts with the police before he went on news channels insisting she wasn’t in the river and that he’d find here there within just one day if she was.

He may well be an expert but I’ve read of several drowning victims who’ve resurfaced miles and miles away, so they’re not always found nearby at all.

I don’t have google earth. I know google maps shows it as Blackpool lane but Apple Maps show it as Garstang lane - but I think basically the place she entered the towpath was the place she may have exited the towpath and I think that’s probably where the blackspot is. IMO.
I went back to the presser on Friday and it's a jumble of ...

"The areas not covered by CCTV is where we're interested in dashcam footage ... Garstang Lane leading to the A586 if we get this we'll definitively know she didn't leave the area"

The A586 is "all" of the main road name variants Garstang/Blackpool in Google/Apple/whatever, so I think you can take whatever meaning you want from that.

But your above interpretation from the latest press statement does make the most sense.

Do we know if the search has finished for today? And do we know how much of the river they managed to search?

I'm not sure of that myself. I took it to mean from river path to field, to Allotment Lane to Garstang Road. What I didn't know is there is a path through The Grapes pub to Garstang Road. I read it earlier but unfortunately I didn't make a note of the link. But I thought the Grapes was on Blackpool Lane. I don't have local knowledge unfortunately.

I think it's more likely that they can't pinpoint via cell tower triangulation to that extent

It's in 'the area of the bench' but even the most sophisticated tech won't be able to pinpoint if it was on the bench, right next to it, under it.
That's my understanding of where the tech is at - happy to be corrected

It is to me but suit yourself.
Is this clear?

From latest update today:

9.20- Her phone was back in the area of the bench

9.30am – The Teams call ended but Nicola stayed logged on

9.33am (approximately) – Nicola’s mobile phone and Willow were found at a bench by the river by another dog-walker.

Nowhere does it say her phone was found *on* the bench.
