Does anyone else feel as though their thoughts on this case have been thrown up in the air today?

Right now, the river looks bigger than I imagined, and while I sadly still think NB is in there somewhere, the events of today have shaken lose a couple of theories. My thoughts remain with NB and her family.

Definitely I don’t know whether it’s because PF was SO confident she’d be found quickly that I’d expected her to be found today - I’m more on the she fell by accident kinda thought process. I’m now beginning to question it, I still think accident is more probable but……it’s given me a bit of doubt.

It’s definitely a sit and wait situation unfortunately. Mostly for her family and friends, my thoughts are with them too.

My gut instinct was that they wouldn’t find her today. Not sure why! Maybe it would just be the shock if they found her body. Even though I’m sure she hasn’t run off and is alive.

Someone unthread mentioned her car keys. Odd that the police never asked the public to look out for these.
Stranger still that the police have not published photos of what she was wearing, the fit bit to look out for, the necklace. I mean as in replicas of the outfit so people would know it if they found it.

It was thoroughly examined on the morning of her disappearance.

Hi there, to clarify we did evidence-gathering work around the bench when Nicola was first reported missing. The tape that has been put up today is simply to keep people away from the water’s edge while searches are continued. This is for the safety of divers.
But does the necessarily mean that froensic evidence was sought after? Maybe just gathering the phone, harness etc??

Some missing stats UK:

Majority are children (teenagers)
Majority are male
98% kids found within a week
95% adults found within a week

As of 2020 there are 5300 longer term mispers in UK. A proportion of those will be unlocated suicides, voluntary disappearances and some will have met foul play.

It’s an unbelievable amount isn’t it. There’s also hundreds of unidentified bodies on the NCA database

Has anything ever been mentioned about her car keys, house keys or purse? Just find it strange her phone was left on the bench / near the bench but other personal belongings haven’t

What necklace?

No nothing official from police about any of those things.

That‘s just what I need, thanks:

There was a mobile phone on the bench and there was also something between the bench and the river so I went and looked, and it was a dog harness.”

But what’s happened to the other walker in the story because originally I read that there were two and it was the other one who’d found the harness.

A few of you are wondering if Peter Faulding has seen the fitbit data. (Unlikely unless they have the actual fitbit IMO) However it does seem that NB a big Strava user. She's got a pro Strava account, and hadn't bothered updated her fitbit for a few days. I'm wondering whether she recorded her Friday walk with the strava app on her phone, maybe using Strava Beacon, which would show her location whilst holding the phone more accurately than phone mast data. It's also unlikely because it would drain a lot of battery when she was meant to be on a teams call, but just putting it out there as a JMO idea.

Nope but already discussed that her gilet didn’t have zip pockets and as she had a jacket on underneath, the keys etc. may be in the zipped/jacket pocket. But no, no mention to look out for such items which is strange as no-one bar NB would know where her keys were stored that day.

The car keys would be in her pocket from when the car was parked. There would have been no need to take them out during the walk. They will still be in her pocket, in my opinion.
