If NB never entered the river, we are left with only three options to consider as possibilities:

1) She left the area of her own free will
2) She was taken from the area against her will
3) She never left the area

The possibilities may vary, but if she's not in the river, what else could have happened other than one of the above?

JMO MOO IMO

Don't know but I was up there for a while and say a week beforehand the temps got down to -6 overnight near Garstang, and the higher fells in the catchment area were covered in snow for maybe a week.

Temp of River Wyre this time of year is typically 40F

There are various Youtube videos below showing the area she probably walked along including the bench area.
I did post a link but then deleted it as not sure if permitted.

Lots of very dense bushes/hedges/trees near the path with a possibility that she could have been missed on land in this area in a search particularly if she fell in an area surrounded by deep undergrowth.

I do wonder if she might have been missed on a ground search or ended up having fallen in dense undergrowth on the river bank. If she had fallen at the river edge into water but surrounded by folliage, maybe the search by divers and sonar might not have found her. Some of the river edges look like you could fall in and end up partly/fully in water but surrounded by rushes/plants and quite out of view.

It is certainly not a fast flowing river area. It does not look to me like a particularly easy area to search for the police.

It was tight fitting and over a thicker jacket from the CCTV and Social Media photos, it was also only knee length and would be tighter around the hips on a woman when fastened, so unless she had it unzipped, it's not really plausible IMO, JMO, MOO. They're also not down filled, so IMO it wouldn't even be that cumbersome in water for a strong swimmer.

The outer padded sleeveless coat is not tight fitting IMO. NB is wearing a coat that matches the official descriptions - but knee-length - in two of her Facebook photos from Center Parcs (oldest album). I don't know what I'm allowed to post - or if I can link to it - but it appears to be very loose and has zips running up each side

HI, this question is for the Brits who live locally to St. Michael’s, or similar towns in Lancashire:

This is a question regarding the video footage of the paths leading to the bench and the fields (NB's last known movements):

It is quite clear that the canopy of tree limbs hanging down over this walkway have been trimmed. The overhead branches look nicely “squared off” so taller people don’t get smacked in the face as they hike along the trail.

Who is responsible for this excellent Trail Maintenance?
  1. The adjacent residential property owners to the trail?
  2. The caravan park owner, or any nearby businesses to the trail?
  3. “The Town” of St. Michael’s itself (such as a Dept. of Public Works, like in the States)?
  4. Some other entity, such as a volunteer organization?

These “groundskeepers” are doing a very good job, as it appears there is a clear-cut and recent “squaring off” of the tree limbs, where NB was dog-walking before she disappeared.

I hope that the Lancashire Police interviews these groundskeepers. It might help the investigation to ask them if they saw any suspicious activity the last few weeks, such as:
  1. People lurking, following and/or observing dog-walkers on their regular hikes.
  2. People gaining unauthorized access to any secured “out-houses”, sheds, etc. in this area by the river.
  3. People "cutting through" and using alternative dirt routes through the thickets to go back and forth to the car park.

Groundskeepers often observe and note “strange activity” even before the general public sees it because they know the surrounding land so well.

(JMO)

If there are deer in the area, they are excellent and very tidy pruners of low - hanging tree - branches which would perfectly fit your description.

Just interestingly, the weird building beside "the bench" is a river monitoring station.
River height
Its been pretty stable in the last week.

I’ve managed to stand on the back of knee length cardigans/jackets while stooping/squatting which has then caused me to lose balance (more than once, may I add), so it’s pretty plausible in my opinion!
I've managed to fall back a couple of times when squatting looking at clothes for the grandaughter on the bottom rail. I just roll back so now I have to go down onto my knees with feet at bum.

I am with you on this, hopeful the police are working on other possible scenarios in the background.
Yes… I’m sure they must be working on other possibilities too.

Not according to the expert who says it's impossible that she'd reach the sea. Surely she'd be trapped on top of the weir?
That seems to be where Police are now heading....who knows

Superintendent Sally Riley of Lancashire Police said at a press conference today: “Our search of the river and the river banks extends out to sea particularly the area from Knott End out towards Morecambe.”

Just a general observation - there has not been an update for now for hours, which, in my experience, means that there will be a big update soon, as soon as all other parties that need to know the info first are told.

Can anyone enlighten me on whether romanwater has been searched?. On the map there is a lake or something there
It’s Rowanwater and the presser said it had been discounted today

My theory is she had a medical episode such as low blood pressure and fainted, put her phone down before passing out, rolled down the bank and quickly into deep trouble. Its plausible to me that a water loving dog would still not jump into a cold river from a steep bank. The summer photos are a different scenario entirely.
And rivers are just very difficult to search.
In my opinion she would not roll down the bank under those circumstances. A possibility is that the dog was down the bank but not in the water and she was ready to move on so went to the bank to call the dog.

Very illuminating video. Twitter headline is wrong though. PF isn't a Senior Investigating Officer. He does act like one though.

That was over 6 hours ago......... like I said, there hasn't been an update in hours.
It's currently 22:33 7 Feb in the UK, and the sun is setting at 17:00
The Lancashire police have left days between updates previously.

Hadn’t listened to the interview just saw the headline and assumed it was the SIO with the police!
