Bibaa Henry, 46, and Nicole Smallman, 27, were found dead five minutes from the Valley Drive entrance to Fryent Country Park on June 7, next to each other in a treeline.

Due to blood found at the scene, police believe the sisters were killed between 1.15am and 2.30am by a person unknown to them

Very interesting to know they were still alive at 1 am. Changes a few my thoughts of them being attacked as soon as they were alone. Do you think this could mean the two sisters were drunker than we thought?

I wonder if that means somebody was watching them, or like someone mentioned up thread; if their noise had annoyed someone.

Searches of the scene are continuing, but police have found items belonging to the sisters, including recovering their mobile phones from a pond.

This new article and picture raises so many more questions. I’m assuming this picture is one that was found from the phone ? But this doesn’t look like a selfie picture to me - it looks like It was taken. The attacker also went to some lengths to hide the evidence by throwing the phones in the pond

I always think if they try to hide the evidence it's because it can help catch them. Either by DNA or being known to the victims. And obviously this wasn't a robbery, so why hide their belongings?

The only thing I can think of with the picture is if the camera was on a timer, but yes not a selfie looking photo.

Initially I thought the photos had been taken earlier in the evening, by another member of the group, but MSM all seem to be reporting that these pics are taken just after 1am. I agree they don’t look like selfies, so that’s a bit strange unless media are reporting incorrectly.

I'm nearly thinking they were taken by someone. And if the timing of the photo is correct, then there's only one person it could be.

After looking at the photo a bit more -- I think one of the sister's is holding a selfie stick.

Parents' plea to catch sisters' killer

Detectives have today released photographs taken of the victims prior to the murders which they believe could help them to identify the attacker, now confirmed to be man.

Also the picture taken shows it was quite a bright night - it was a full moon which might explain why they felt safe in the park at that time

It's kind of eerie seeing those photos knowing what happened shortly after. So unlucky that someone just happened to be there who was capable of such a thing. I really hope they find the guy.

Hmm, I'm going to say still ringing @Alyce just because it says unanswered. I think/hope they would have worded it differently if it was switched off. IMO

so sad that it could have been the lights that alerted the stranger to their presence

im beginning to think the picture was a timer because of the angle and the grass - also one of the sisters was a photographer

  • Detectives investigating 'incredibly unusual' case think lights alerted passersby to sisters' presence

I think your right, had it not been for the lights, the perp probably wouldn't have known they were there, other than their voices but without the lights, he may have had trouble finding them in the dark. The question is, if he hadnt known they were there before spotting the lights or their voices, what was he doing there at that time of night ? Was he a transient, homeless, rough sleeper ? That doesn't seem to fit to me though as he would've possibly kept their phones/ any valuables to sell. I think there was a darker motive behind these murders.
