UK - Mass stabbing in Reading 20 June 2020

UK security concerns mount after Reading attack | DW | 22.06.2020
''British Interior Minister Priti Patel on Monday warned that the threat from lone attackers was on the rise in the UK.

Her comments came two days after a man stabbed three people to death at a park in the southern English city of Reading. Authorities labeled the incident as a terror attack.

"The terrorist threat that we face is complex, diverse, and rapidly changing. It is clear that the threat posed by lone actors is growing," Patel told lawmakers in parliament.''

Are there extra police patrols in the area and stuff?

I'm having trouble with the ' random stranger' aspect of this. I don't understand how this was stated as certainty so soon after the bodies were discovered. As we're often reminded, it's not CSI and both sisters are likely to have had wide social circles.

It puzzles me why the attacker tried to get rid of any evidence. His DNA was all over the scene anyway from his blood. This is a strange case.

Well, they might be below average intelligence, or they may have been high, or not on their anti psychotic meds.

Thoughts for now.. speculation, imo.
-Maybe trying to hide things to give himself enough time to get away before the ghastly scene comes to light, plus does not care about his dna because he knows he is not in the system and he possibly lives outside the UK?

-Very young person, underage? knows to hide stuff, but ignorant about dna?

-Crazy, crazy person doing random things that only make sense to himself?

The houses around the exit to the park had, I think ,cctv. The street appeared to have quite affluent houses which could also have had surveillance technology. So if the murderer went that way the police must have images of him.

Some interesting local information on this open Facebook group What's Happening in Kingsbury, Queensbury, Edgware & Surrounding Areas especially in relation to helicopter/police activity at the site

Thank you for the link, quite interesting helicopter flying on top and around that park for quite some time at midnight and also police presence.

Hopefully there will be some update very soon on this case.

Edit to add: Scrolling farther on that FB page it seems helicopters were there around the park also on Friday 19 June.

Looking at the map...I tried to find something what looks like a pattern. Starting with murders "around" the area where the sisters were killed. (I don't know London, so I have no idea how far this places are from each other). I used the numbers from the map Dotr posted.

11. Eraj Seifi was found shot on Bravington Road near Queen's Park Tube . A 46-year-old man died in hospital over a week after being shot in the head. (Male/shot)
15. Lennox Nigel Alcendor, 42, was found in Anson Road, with a knife wound to his neck (Male/fatally stabbed in the neck)
35. Denise Michelle Keane-Barnett-Simmons, 36, was found seriously injured after emergency services were called to a house fire in Alric Avenue, Stonebridge, Brent (Female, burns and inhalation of fumes)
7. Tahereh Pirali-Dashti, 40, died in hospital on 10 April after suffering serious injuries in a road traffic collision (Male/accident)
19. Asante Campbell, 24, was found stabbed in a silver VW Polo after it collided with another vehicle in Parson Street, Hendon, at around 9pm on 29 February. He died in hospital later that evening. Detectives believe he was attacked in a car park in Stratford Road. (Male/knife attack)

Nicole and Bibaa, females, both fatally stabbed.

So far I don't see a "real" pattern in the knife killings.

There isn't a pattern, some of those incidents have happened locally to me and what I know is that something had been brewing locally and it's more to do with gang violence then anything else and is seemingly still on going.
I'm inclined to agree that the person who did this may be mentally ill, and if the police have his DNA then they would know by now if he was known to them or not and if he is not known to the police then this is a pretty huge escalation in someone who does not have mental health issues.

Eugh.

Two Metropolitan police officers have been arrested after a photograph was allegedly taken of the bodies of murdered sisters in a London park, the Guardian has learned.

[...]

A criminal inquiry is under way into an “inappropriate” photo taken at the murder scene, and allegedly sent to a group of people who included members of the public.

How strange, if this is not a usual problem (LE allegedly taking and sending these type of pics) why would they do it in this particular murder investigation?

That's a very good question @dotr , a disturbing one but yes, that raises a good point. Horrible people!
