God more word salad from McDonald - staggering.
This guy just cannot stop talking … it’s utterly bizarre and absolutely NOT how he should be conducting himself as someone who has been at the bar for as long as he has, he is single-handedly turning this into a circus.
However YET again it’s a non starter and is going nowhere fast.
Yes I really enjoyed the live last night @CS2C thanks - so interesting as usual.
I have a bottle of Kraken somewhere though but from recollection it’s to be consumed sparingly… it’s so STRONG !

To be honest this is so far outside the expected conduct of a barrister that I'm half expecting he is hoping to get into serious trouble so that he can blame it on the conspiratorial cover-up.

How Bizarre
So basically are they using Evans to try and force an appeal in order to have a retrial where the defence do actually present expert witnesses?

She's an idiot. Ben myers kc was so much better and I liked him. I do actually think he did the best job of it anyone could. Kinda felt sorry for him to get lumbered with that case but he performed admirably.

I don't think these 'experts' would pass muster.

Am I reading this wrong? Didn't Dr Evans kinda change it on the stand ? Maybe that's what Mcdonald is saying and I'm saying this because I can't see how he would make an error like that.

Figured it out I think. The only relevant thing is McDonald's take on what Evans said about changing his mind. McDonald's take is that it was the first time in decades as a barrister that a expert witness had changed his mind on the stand, the point he is missing is that Evans changed his mind (not drastically or conveniently) as a result of additional evidence he heard on the stand. He only saw the med files before then so actually only had partial information. This is a total non issue and no wonder it has been cleared as permissable by the heavies.

Sorry Tortoise, I think I linked you the wrong video for the Child A interview. This is the correct one.

Thank you CS. I will listen to them both!

You're the only place to go to for the facts of the trial.

I was never convinced that it ever was. Some of the media mentioned it but I don't ever recall seeing pictures of them actually digging in the garden. I think some of the reports mentioned seeing police officers with spades but that isn't of itself proof that they ever did any digging.

They wouldn't just randomly dig up the whole garden so unless they were interested in a particular spot they probably didn't do anything.

Doubt that they were ever concerned about bodies being in there but it wouldn't be out of the realms of possibility that a serial killer may have buried trophies or something.

What in the name of flying duckery are the defence doing announcing a big reveal to come up with nothing? It's still a solid conviction. Even with med experts backing the new supposed causes of death it still does not really challenge it. That is strange.
I'm sick and tired of the clueless media simply parroting the claims made by these people. On Jeremy Vine yesterday, Vine casually trotted out something along the lines of "we now know other babies died when Letby was not on duty." But he didn't seem to be aware that none of those deaths are viewed as suspicious, and that a few babies sadly die from natural causes in hospitals throughout the land. He made it sound as if this was some sort of major revelation. FFS.

What Vine said isn't even factually correct.

"A total of 13 babies died in the neonatal unit between June 2015 and June 2016. Letby was on duty for 12 of them."

Lucy Letby: We spent years covering the case – here’s why experts are still arguing about it

I know it's a very complex trial and very lengthy with tons of information but in summary there have been multiple layers of top professionals all saying the same. From the initial and local hospital reviews to the highest levels of nursing authorities each saying "this ain't right" then they get to court and she is condemned and then to add even more layers each appeal attempt has been rebuffed as the case is straightforward. That's like six layers of top professionals from nursing to criminal justice each saying the same "it's solid". The media really should acknowledge the facts and as you say not parrot anything without addressing those facts. It's a s show. Mr vine seems to know nothing really.

I'm still wondering why people do seem reluctant to actually face the fact that the convictions are most likely safe. Maybe it is just because she epitomises the UK ideal.

Eta maybe they identify with her.

It's a trend right now, mostly happening in the USA. IMO

All the high profile cases, the Delphi murders (Richard Allen), the New York CEO murder accused (Luigi Mangione), Karen Read trial, the ballerina trial (Ashley Benefield), I could list many more.

The barrister's press conference is unprecedented. I think there are a variety of reasons, societally, and aided by an irresponsible news media, and folk trying to make money from clicks.

Letby must be LOVING this sat in her cell ( or playing cards on the wing with Batool if you believe the DM ) whilst this circus is in town.
With the exception of Knapton and Aviv and a couple of other stragglers it’s all men simpering and procrastinating on her behalf.
Funny that.
