I've not seen the exchange of texts between JP/KD before. Where did you find those?

Mr Mousley told the jury that at 1.10am on February 24, Karl got a message from Parsons saying: "Ah ok you going to hide it for him? We could do with the money. lol. xxxx."

Eight minutes later she sent another which said: "Cool, that's a deposit on the house. lol."

thank you so much for this. had been planning on doing one myself.

purchase of electricity for the power saw no doubt.

the messages from JP I hadn't seen before. Were the police not able to recover the messages she was replying to?

I haven't seen anything reported about those messages but I might have missed it

Clio - thank you for that clear and concise timeline.

Here is a timeline covering the period in which the body dismemberment and disposal must have taken place. It is based on testimony given so far. Largely taken from UK & Eire site. I have changed names to initials.

Fri February 20: 12.20pm - NM buys two bottles of drain cleaner from the Rajani superstore in Bristol.
12.51pm - NM purchases a MacAllister circular power saw, face masks, gloves and goggles from B&Q in Horfield, Bristol.
[

Sat February 21: NM and SH go to Asda in Bedminster and buy black bags, rubble sacks, rubber gloves, bleach and three rolls of cling film. They purchase £20 of electricity from a local shop.

Sun February 22: NM and SH buy black rubble sacks, tape and a sponge from a 99p store and a Wilko at the Broadmead shopping centre in Bristol city centre, then tape and cling film at Sainsbury's in Brislington.
(quote respectfully snipped)
I find this whole tragic story is so close to home for me - I have shopped in all the stores that are listed above and have been to the roads around where this happened so many times.

Just looking at the saturday and sunday "shopping spree" - I am wondering, did they get half way through the dismemberment and run out of supplies? or did they purposefully split the shopping between stores so they looked less suspicious.

Also, why go to Wilkos in Broadmead - then drive all the way to Sainsburys in Brislington to buy more tape and clingfilm? There are plenty of other discount/pound shops shops in Broadmead to buy those things, And there must be dozens of shops closer to their home than the one at Brislington.

Thank you for local knowledge LadyN. Hmmm, yes, it does seem like NM was trying to cover his tracks, but didn't count on CCTV and witnesses.

Just checking the map as to distance between Cotton Mill Lane and Brislington and it isn't actually that far. But I still don't understand why they would choose to go into Broadmead and Bedminster - which are both large shopping areas and not buy all their supplies in one go. By going to Sainsburys in Brislington to buy more cling film and tape, strikes me as though they needed more supplies part way through.

I wondered this as Asda Bedminster backs onto Bedminster high street. He could have gotten all the supplies in one go. Only thing I can think of is that he thought by spreading the purchases across a wider area there would be less chance of him raising suspicion..

ITV Becky Trial ‏@ITVBeckyTrial 2m2 minutes ago

Court has restarted - we're still hearing from the forensic scientist - here's what we heard yesterday

A forensic scientist has told court it is "very unusual" that no DNA

Asked if there was any DNA belonging to Becky in the bathroom at Cotton Mill Lane, Ms Morse replied "there was nothing found in, or on, the bathroom".
It doesn't mean she couldn't have been dismembered in the bathroom, it could still have happened, I find it extremely surprising we found no blood in that bathroom, it is a difficult thing to try and clean up from all the nooks and crannies.

– CLAIRE MORSE
She added, if the dismemberment did happen in the bathroom it would have been a "combination of covered surfaces and full cleaning".

-----------

On the inside of the mask there was a mixed profile which contained all the components of both Ms Hoare.

There is strong support she contributed to this sample.

That finding is what could be expected if she had contact with the mask, or what could be expected if she had worn it at some time.

– CLAIRE MORSE
She added that DNA from at least three people was found on a knotted bin bag, also taken from a suitcase, at least one was male, and one that could suggest Hoare had also contributed.

A number of blood stains, on the masks, safety goggles and circular saw matched Becky Watts, she said.
She went on to add that a 'Tweety t-shirt' found in the spotted suitcase had a high DNA match for Hoare - indicating she could be the usual wearer of the garment.

:grouphug:

I'm all over the place. I'm really hoping it will come together near the end of trial, otherwise it's one hell of job for the jury.

The DNA profile which matched SH on a bin liner knot came from a portion of just 10 DNA cells found, witness says

(Hmmm, SH tied up that bag, she must have known the contents??!!)

'DNA can be detected on an item without the person ever having touched it' witness says

(ok, back flip, SH might not have touched the bag)

The main shopping street is called East street (it's partly pedestrianised, so you can't it see from Google street view) and that is full of cheap shops that would stock tape and cling film etc. in fact there is a Poundland and Poundstretcher less than 5 minutes walk from ASDA. So even if they wanted to split the buying into smaller shops, they could have done so very easily. It seems strange.

It's also worth pointing out that Bristol, eventhough it is a city - it is the sort of place that everyone knows everyone else. I could probably walk down East street myself and see at least 1 person that I knew and I moved away from the area 10 years ago. So they probably did want to buy things away from the immediate area around where they lived for fear of seeing acquaintances.

Every time I think there's something to tie her to it, it's then flipped. I guess actually it makes sense given that the bag had been in their home and also given the state of their home that NMS and Shs Dna would be everywhere

'I can't exclude that it [SH's DNA] could have been deposited via something else that had SH DNA on it', witness tells court

Even so spreading it out over so far an area seems illogical - for instance within the locality of Bedminster you have the shopping centre in Knowle and the selection of shops around whiteladies road including a Sainsbury. ..

This Claire Moss is a witness for the prosecution right?

Phew, I've just caught up guys.

Hopefully we will see some more damning evidence in court today!

I just wanted to touch on the (great) post by E-sherlockholmes - the only thing I would dispute is the claim that they probably didn't use the circular saw to dismember Becky when they realised it would be too difficult (other than for the bones). Surely the 'Dismemberment expert' they brought in yesterday & the pathologist would be able to tell the difference between cuts through flesh with knives, and those made by a circular saw? I would imagine a knife would create much more irregular marks? Sorry to be graphic.

Yes although I don't think she did them any favours yesterday. Hopefully she will be clearer today.
