NM 'strangled' me, SH says. He 'put his hands around my throat and kind of tightened them'. Was only for about 4 or 5 seconds. #beckywatts

Hoare: Matthews tried to strangle her for 4 or 5 seconds when she was on the bed. He "huffed and puffed" then offered to get her cigarettes.

Yeah I bet he did right enough...

It happened about 18 months before her arrest, made her feel "terrified": "I try to push him away and I'm crying my eyes out" #beckywatts

... Pushed her head into a window, stabbed himself with a fork when she asked him to leave. Hadn't been that way for a while, she said.
Sorry but I literally choked on my tea reading that. Soo funny.. leave..no..leave..stabs himself with fork...ok stay then

#BeckyWatts trial: SH told police NM was quite controlling, wouldn't let her go out or get takeaways

It's not so weird - I get stuff delivered to my work all the time because they're thieving gits by me and I don't trust the delivery men to put the parcels in a safe place. Failing that as some delivery companies won't deliver to commercial properties I get them to deliver to my moms as I know there's someone always In

Something like memory cards and stickers would just go through a letterbox though. It might all be irrelevant but hopefully it was picked up by police nqad they checked where she was at that point.

Hmm so SH says he's hasn't really been violent to her in 18 months whereas nan said he'd become worse around 18 months ago...

Also what is the fixation with them talking about cigarettes all the time

Anybody else feel SH is going to get away with this..because I kinda do, the evidence just doesn't seem enough to find her guilty of murder without reasonable doubt tbh. Unless more is to come of course. We are only on week 2 of the trial.

#BeckyWatts trial: SH told police she and NM used to argue 'all the time' but they'd stopped recently

SH told police her and NM used to argue all the time - mostly about her smoking - but they hadn't more recently #beckywatts

She changes to present tense when describing what happened? Interesting!

Truthful people usually describe historical events in the past tense. Deceptive people sometimes refer to past events as if the events were occurring in the present. Describing past events using the present tense suggests that people are rehearsing the events in their mind. Investigators should pay particular attention to points in a narrative at which the speaker shifts to inappropriate present tense usage.

Wonder if this was reported to anyone - there's a whole difference between someone being controlling and a violent person. .so far we haven't heard anything from anyone about violence
