[h=3]'Becky wouldn't listen to anyone'[/h]The jury heard Matthews mum Anjie was diagnosed with MS a few years ago.
Matthews broke down again when asked how he felt about Anjie getting ill.
He sobbed with his head on the lectern in front of him in the witness box.
Matthews said: “My mum is nice and kind and would do anything for anyone.”
Asked what his concern with Becky was he said: “The main problem was Becky would leave things on the stairs or kitchen and my mum would fall over them.
“They were trip hazards but Becky wouldn’t listen to anyone.”
Matthews and Hoare did vacuuming for Anjie, walked the dog and did cooking and washing for her.
The couple visited Anjie three times a week, the court heard.

The talk of fight or flight and how he's violent if somebody is violent to him. It doesn't match up with what SH said, unless she missed out that she'd been violent too. Also is he using this to say he reacted with violence because Becky did first. In other words she fought back when he tried to "kidnap" her ?

The main problem with Becky was that she left 'trip hazards' around the house NM tells the court #beckywatts

If these photos have been labelled correctly, then there is a lot of clutter in Becky's house - the kitchen cupboards are covered in piled up clutter, which would make it hard to prepare food. There is a long extension lead on the floor which is an obvious hazard and the living has lots of bits and pieces all over the place. If I recall correctly, the conservatory had stuff piled up too. The garden is full of junk, so Anjie would struggle to use it and there is a box room completely piled high with junk.

Becky's room is the only remotely tidy one!

I don't understand how he can blame Becky for leaving trip hazards when the house seems to be full of things that nobody has bothered to put away, or find a proper home for. Some rooms look as bad as those at NM's house. In fact, the bedroom which must belong to her father and Anjie is full of junk too, taking up lots of floor space. That can't be Becky's fault.

Its the photos at the bottom of this article:

And in these, the conservatory and box room are packed with junk - looks like a hoarder also lived at Becky's house.

How on earth can he think anyone would believe that was the reason he had to teaching Becky a lesson - is he completely blind to the state of the house, conservatory and garden????

[h=3]'We clicked in a sense' - Matthews about relationship with Hoare[/h]Matthews told the jury: “Sometimes Becky would be there but she would stay up in her bedroom or come down and slam the door or something.”
The jury heard Shauna Hoare was aged 16 when Matthews met her.
He said: “I was a different person, we clicked in a sense.”
Matthews moved out of his grandmother’s house and set up home with Hoare.
The pair fell out with Hoare’s mum Lisa Donovan, the jury heard.
Matthews said: “Her mum treated Shauna like the black sheep of the family.
“It was me and Shauna that fell out with Lisa.”

Precisely. Is the kind of thing I would expect a carer to do, tidy up and remove any hazards , and particularlyu keep the kitchen area clean.

If Anji never went to his home with Shauna then the state of his home is not significant.

Look at the photos of Anjie's house that I posted just above your comment. If the papers have labelled the photos correctly, then many of the rooms are in a similar state to those of SH and NM's house. Box room and conservatory full of clutter, garden full of junk. Adults' bedroom beginning to go the same way.

Not saying its relevant, but Anjie's house was pretty similar to her sons in some respects.

Matthews admits there were 'levels of violence' in relationship with Hoare

The jury heard how the couple moved to a house in Cotton Mill Lane, Bristol, which got “into a state”.
Matthews said: “That was my fault. Shauna gave me an ultimatum. Shauna said I would only be allowed one cupboard.
“I was the hoarder. That house obviously was cluttered.”

The jury heard Hoare told police Matthews had been violent to her.
Hoare told officers Matthews pulled her by the hair across their bed, strangled her for four or five seconds, threw her phone against a wall and pushed her head against a window while he was driving.
Matthews admitted there were “levels of violence” during the couple’s six-year relationship.
He said: “I can remember an incident when we had an argument while I was on the exercise bike. I had a cushion because the seat hurts your bum. I grabbed the cushion and threw it - I didn’t throw it at her but it ended up hitting her.”
But he denied pulling Hoare by her hair from one end of the bed to the other or strangling her.
Matthews said on one occasion: “I pushed her onto the bed and then stabbed myself with a fork because I saw she was scared. I did it to stop myself.
“There were times when I was controlling but there were times when she was controlling.
“I once said: ‘Why are you having a 🤬🤬🤬, you don’t smoke’. But she went and had a smoke anyway. She had asked me to help her stop smoking.”
