Forgive the rookie question but in my head strangling or suffocation by using your hands should always be classed as murder because the killer decides not to stop the pressure.

Is there a legal definition of why it can be manslaughter?

The difference between murder and manslaughter is intent. No doubt a poster with more knowledge can explain, but it is not the

method which differentiates the two charges. OIMO & IMU

Also, I don't really find what they bought on the shopping trips that unexplainable or strange - if NM was responsible for the hoarding as he has said in court then he could have said to SH that he wanted to finally start cleaning things up properly and was serious about getting rid of the mess which to me would explain the rubble sacks, bleach, clingfilm, etc.

"I cannot remember if she asked why I was buying them but if she did I would have lied.

NM says he planned to put Becky in a case, take her somewhere and tell her to change her behaviour.

Was he intending on still wearing that mask when he did this? And was he assuming that Becky wouldn't recognise his voice or his car - because there is no mention of Becky being blindfolded. If he was intending on talking to her about how she treated his mum, why would he need a mask when he was in her bedroom, and why did he panic when it slipped and revealed his identity, as she would soon enough discover it was him anyway? I'd have thought when she had heard SH and MN enter the house, she'd have immediately realised it was NM. Nobody else has said anything bad about Becky, so she would immediately have an idea as to who had a problem with her.

Story still doesn't make any sense. I still think he is covering up the real reason why Becky was attacked/killed.

As for his comments about the way she treated people, doesn't he realise he could be talking about himself if SH is telling the truth?

I agree. He has his plan ready even though he has no way of knowing where she is in the house or if she's even in. She could have been sat in the lounge or out in the garden, lookin gout the window or jsut walking back from a friends. She could easily have seen the car, them, heard the little girl, heard them put Ceebies on...

I'm not sure about this regarding the clingfilm.
Whenever I have cleared out a loft, shed or such of junk I have never gone to buy 5(?) rolls of clingfilm.

Sorry, didn't see that quote!
In that case, I have no idea. I dunno about anyone else but I use up loads of bin bags in my house for regular clear outs and stuff - to me it would be the first thing I thought of when I heard someone had bought that much cleaning stuff. Another thing in this case that doesn't make sense! I feel like there are lots of aspects of this case and circumstantial evidence that could be easily explained away like this - but it's almost like they're doing their best to prove otherwise and complicate it?! Very strange.

Yeah I agree that the clingfilms going to be the sticky point. Even if they did have some small bits and bobs to wrap up during their tidying, would they really have used 3 rolls and needed more the next day?

I see what you mean. I've used clingfilm quite a lot in moving stuff to keep small things together, or often to 'pad' things if I don't have anything else that will do the job, but 5 rolls is excessive!
