[h=3]Footage 'shows Williams leaving murder scene'[/h]The court is shown footage of what the prosecution says is Sarah Williams leaving the murder scene and getting back into the Clio.
A witness gave description of a person they saw at that time including saying they had long and wavy hair.
McDermott earlier said Katrina Walsh had alopecia and says that she “could never be described as having any hair, wavy or unkept.”
He says the Clio took a longer “diversionary” route back to Ellesmere Port from Helmshore. He says the journey took around two-and-three-quarter hours. “We cannot account for the whole journey and have no idea what Sarah Williams was doing” he says.
He says the car was only found several days after the pair had been arrested with “the deceased’s blood found in the foot well.”
He says after arriving back Sarah Williams rang Katrina Walsh on their specially bought “dirty phones.”

[h=3]“Mission accomplished for both defendants"[/h]Mr McDermott says that in the call Sarah Williams “said something to the effect of ‘I’ve killed her, we need to meet up and get rid of the car and other things.”
The jury are now being shown footage of what the prosecution say is the pair meeting up at Westminster car park in Ellesmere Port to “dump” the Clio there.
He says a towel and washing up liquid was used to wipe down parts of the Clio. However he says “the blood in the foot well was probably not visible and was certainly missed by both of them.”
They then both leave in Katrina Walsh’s Astra he says.
It’s unclear who was driving but it took around an hour and a half to return to Sarah Williams’ home in Chester. They claim Walsh left there around midnight.
“Mission accomplished for both the defendants” Mr McDermott adds.
We are now taking a short break.

Around midnight prosecution say Walsh left house with bag and went home. Bag could have had stun gun, knife and boots in

Prosecution say Sadie's body was not found until late the following day. Colleagues raised alarm

Police found boot prints covered in Sadie's blood in the hallway and there were no signs of forced entry

Police swabbed Williams bath and found traces of Sadie's DNA. Glasses in her car with traces of victims blood on

Mr McDermott says Sadie Hartley’s body wasn’t discovered until late in the evening the following day, Friday 15th January.

Swabs of the bath were were taken and the DNA of Sadie Hartley was revealed. In the Volvo were a pair of glasses and on the lens was Sadie Hartley’s blood.
A pair of Deichmann boots which the prosecution trace to a shopping trip on 12th January were recovered when Katrina Walsh led the police to their hiding place.

What a load of balls! Even if she did think it was the TV show, she would know nobody was going to get snipered. Tut!

Thank you, Tortoise, for keeping us up to date.

[h=3]Williams 'wrote to Sadie accusing her of affair'[/h]The court is told about a letter Sarah Williams sent to Sadie Hartley claiming she had been having an affair with her partner Ian Johnston.
In it she accused Mrs Hartley of “buying” and “trapping” him and said he was lying to her.
Mr McDermott says it is up to the jury whether that was an act of kindness to warn her, “or, as we suggest, an act of extreme spite.”
He says “as the evidence was gathering” Miss Williams answered no comment to questions from police and was later charged.
When Katrina Walsh was arrested she told police in the car “I might have done something, I might have done something, I just don’t remember.”
In interview she said she was “petrified” of Williams but she never believed she would carry out the murder.
She said she knew Miss Williams had a “manic fascination for Ian Johnston and would “do anything to get him.”
She admitted that they had travelled to Germany to buy the stun gun and admitted hiding the stun gun, knife, boots and a dairy.
She also said Sarah Williams “may have said to me; Take the ***** out of this world to free Ian.”

Just having a browse to see what kind of sentence Walsh may be given.

Here's a recent one where both men got life sentences - the actual murderer got 25 years and his accomplice only slightly less, with 22 years.

http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/news/west-london-news/life-sentence-ealing-man-who-11409749

Only difference is that the accomplice was present at the murder, which Walsh clearly was not.

Still, does seem as though Walsh can get life, which is good news.

As for her * I thought it was a game, like an episode of Hunter * - her diary entries show that up as a total lie.

[h=3]Prosecution show documents to jury[/h]The jury are back in court here in Preston and we are back underway.

[h=3]Jury shown replica knife and actual stun gun allegedly used[/h]Mr McDermott is holding up and showing a jury a replica of the knife which the prosecution Sarah Williams used to kill Sadie Hartley.
“As you can see” he says, it is a very substantial an lethal knife.
He is also showing them the exact stun gun which they claim was used in the attack.
Mr McDermott says both of these were buried at a farm by at Katrina Walsh.
He says:
“She (Walsh) says the reason she has to write things down is that her memory is so poor.
“However she remembered in phenomenal detail where she had hidden these items. “If you didn’t know where they were you would probably never find them.”

[h=3]Prosecution concludes outline of case[/h]Mr McDermott says the items were not all buried together, there were three separate sites at Collinge Farm in Backford, Chester, where items were found.
“You may read into that just how good or bad Katrina Walsh’s memory was” he says. “I have given you a very exhaustive overview of the case” he says concluding his opening.
“But that is not evidence and it is the role of the prosecution and no one else to prove the case” he adds.
We are taking a break of about 20 minutes until we the first witness in the case is called.

Just adding this link from The Mirror as it shows the complete text of the letter written by Williams to Sadie in August 2014

If true, that's not good at all.

Dear Sadie

“I think you should know that Ian has been cheating on you for over a year.

“He’s been having an affair with me since returning from Camp Suisse in August 2013.
