The backed down bit bothers me

If it was to get another car there it wouldn’t need to be backed down?

Does anyone know how far apart the two properties being watched/guarded are?

JMO - My partner works for volvo, and regarding there being a passenger in the car; the seat would be half alacantara, half leather so the side of seat would have a shiny appearance. I don’t think there is a passenger in the car.

Appeal to help find midwife Sam Eastwood from Liz Rix, Chief Nurse

Sam is the epitome of a midwife, she’s very trustworthy and she really cares about the service. Sam is incredibly dedicated and a very open and honest person.

This is why it is so much out of character for Sam not to have turned up for work on Friday last week. Her colleagues immediately knew something was not right by the fact that she hadn’t told anyone she was running late or wouldn’t be coming to work.

Everyone here is praying for her safe return and our thoughts are with Sam’s family. If Sam reads this, I just want to say that we really miss you and we just want to know that you are safe.

It has been a very difficult week for everyone who works in our Maternity Centre. The team are supporting each other and they’ve been offered support should they want it.

The staff to their great credit haven’t let it affect the care of those ladies who have given birth this week and I’d pay tribute to their professionalism under very difficult circumstances.

We’ve also had many women who Sam has supported calling the hospital giving their support, which we have really appreciated. This again demonstrates how special Sam is. We are appealing for anyone who has seen or heard from Sam to contact Staffordshire Police by calling 101.

Definitely looks like she's driving alone. Parking up the drive says to me that she was expecting someone.

This could well be a spurned lover. But could also be someone met randomly as part of her rebound to that failed relationship.

At this stage this could well be about anything. I do wonder.

Completely agree.

I would say that 3rd party involvement is more likely at the moment, due to no activity from her side since, obviously planning forward with the sale of the dress, the scream, the arrests, her car remaining on the drive (further up).

I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up involving a new acquaintance or work colleague somehow.

This is an odd case given it has been a week with little progress (and surprisingly little media coverage). I suspect the Police are well ahead in the case but need to find her.

For example the media clearly know who lives at the Cromer Road address (most likely the arrested man?) but have been requested not to report who yet?

About Samantha's car being reversed back more than usual I wonder if this paragraph (albeit in the Mail) might be linked to it. I can see a car could be reversed all the way back to that wooden shed/garage if you wished going by Streetview.

Forensic officers appeared to be concentrating on a wooden garden building at the rear of the midwife's home of two years yesterday. They left mid-afternoon carrying bags containing cables, including what appeared to be a car mobile phone charger.

Also the sighting at Stoke train station at midday Saturday seems to be being overlooked?

Police are studying CCTV around Stoke-on-Trent's main train station as they step up their search for missing midwife Samantha Eastwood.

They have revealed the 28-year-old, from Baddeley Green, was last seen at Stoke Station at midday on Saturday.

The sighting at the station was proven to be false after the police checked the cctv. The arrest came that same day.

Edit for clarity - the arrest happened the same day as the police announced there was no trace of her on the station cctv. Tuesday, I believe.

Good to see you, TTWO
(as always, shame about the circumstances)

Really!? The quote from the sentinel clearly states the Police told them that and the latest Mail (I know) article also says the Police are still looking at CCTV around the train station?

Can't trust any media these days......

My mistake re the arrest. We were TOLD of it the same day as we were told the station sighting was unproven.

The major development comes as the search for Samantha has now entered its fifth day. It has not been disclosed when and where the man was arrested.

Stoke-on-Trent man, 32, arrested as police search for missing midwife

I also went looking for the source of the station thing. The Sentinel is the only one saying it was a false lead but they're quite probably the only press asking the question. Scroll way down to find quote. Updates: Search for midwife Samantha Eastwood enters seventh day

"Police have revealed there were no sightings of Samantha Eastwood at Stoke Station at midday on Saturday.

Police intelligence had suggested the 28-year-old had been seen around the station. But CCTV has failed to find any trace of her and police are now concentrating their investigations elsewhere."

It seems the house in Cromer Road, which the police have been guarding, belongs to Katie and Mike Stirling. They are the sister and brother-in-law of Samantha's ex-fiance, John Peake.

Mystery deepens over midwife who vanished a week ago | Daily Mail Online

The house has been under guard since Sunday, the same day a 32-year-old man from the area was arrested on suspicion of kidnap. He has since been released on conditional bail while inquiries continue.

A neighbour in Cromer Road, 82-year-old Doreen Nixon, said Mr and Mrs Stirling went on holiday 'On Friday. But 20 minutes after they left, the police arrived.' The police have refused to tell anyone why they are still maintaining a presence there.

Interesting info in that article:

"Yesterday, as police visited the home of John’s sister Katie and her husband Mike, both 32, in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, next-door neighbour Doreen Nixon, 82, said: “Katie and Michael are really nice people. They went on holiday on Friday.

“But 20 minutes after they left, the police arrived. I last saw Samantha here about a year ago.”

Mike’s Facebook profile carried many pictures of Samantha until mid-afternoon yesterday, when it was abruptly taken down."

Did they report a 32 year old man was arrested? And the ex's brother in law is 32?
