This family seems to me extremely privileged.

- despite earlier signs of abuse by U, the Court gives custody of kids to him.

- Sara goes to school with bruises and shows both mental and physical signs of abuse

- the family is given bigger council house

- probably uncle lives there - against the law

- Sara is taken out of school

- nobody checks the family

- screams of children, foul language, noises of abuse are heard from the house

- nobody reacts and the family does as it pleases,
not bothered by anyone

- they even use religion card
("Sara wants to follow her religion")
when the neighbour asks about hijab

- in the end they flee to Pakistan

Phew!

It is in a Polish newspaper; Dotta has linked it, very easy to use GT on it.
Is that an independent report or just Olga' s recollections?

What I really cannot comprehend
is that a CHILD
was deprived of education
and worked as a house slave
blatantly in front of everyone
AND
nobody intervened.

As if all became "deaf & blind".

It is 21 century
and children have RIGHTS.
Legal rights in civilized countries.

"the religion card" in this case is nothing but hypocrisy. The father is a smoker and a gambler. He should be ashamed of pretending. I respect all religions equally but this is sheer pretense.

Sara was 6 when she started living with U and B.
Does the girl in the pic look less than 6?

I don't think so.
I agree, I recall that the photo was sent by the Sharifs to Olga after Beinash told Olga to stop contacting Sarah and her brother because they did not want to speak to her.
Olga is seen with the photo in a number of reports but it was taken long after she left Olga's care.
Early posts on this website document all this.
It's interesting that they did not send photo's of Sara in a Hijab?

Yep.
She was showing the photo to the reporter
and the photo was on some kind of electronic device,
so sent to her.

It looked like ipad/tablet.

Today court will hear statements but with no witnesses, including further evidence from the school, the odontologist and the burns specialist.

(This is earlier evidence posting incase anyone hasn’t seen it)

Monday, October 21

The court heard evidence from Gregory Robinson, a cell site analyst with 35 years of experience working in the radio and telecommunications industry.

Mr Robinson explained how the movements of a mobile device can be analysed using core data records of each phone call and text, received and made. He also explained that the data shows when a phone is in a certain area.

Records of the three mobile phones belonging to the three defendants, as well as the telematics system within Urfan Sharif’s car had been examined. Mr Robinson will be cross examined at a later date.

Evidence was also heard from Surrey Police Analyst Vernie Govender, who continued to present an hour-by-hour timeline of the defendants’ movements in the three weeks prior to Sara’s death. The period presented today was August 4 to 9, the end of the timeline.

On August 8, the day Sara is believed to have died, data showed Sara’s father Urfan Sharif, her step mother Beinash Batool and one of their children going to Maybury Surgery in the morning, followed by Urfan going to Heathrow Airport and a series of calls between Urfan and Beinash.

From around 8.30pm, the data shows that Beinash made 30 calls to multiple people in around 14 minutes (this indicates some calls didn’t go through), before calling Southall Travel to enquire about travel to Pakistan.

The family’s movements on August 9 from their house to Heathrow Airport was also tracked.

Mr Govender will be cross-examined at a later date

Re taking a child to surgery

What a pity Sara was never taken to surgery
but
her injuries were left untreated
and she got other ones
on top of earlier, not quite healed :(

In fact,
poor child was a mass of:
scars, bruises, injuries, bite marks, ulcers, burns, wounds and broken bones.
Never treated in any surgery.

And nobody seemed to care.

Was she even enlisted to Paediatric GP?
(For periodical health checks)
As all children should.

But it seems as if she didn't exist in this society.
Was invisible.

With regards to Sara and her brother living with U and B, here is my take:

U was abusive and controlling to O during their relationship, they somehow managed to come to some arrangement about the children at the point of separation.

U gets together with B, he now has a female who can do the childcare, Sara tells him about O smacking her and he decides this is the perfect time to punish O by taking the children from her. He files a SS report and keeps the children, saying he is keeping them safe. He then applies to family court for a residency order, using the smacking as a reason. The court grants him the order either with or without input from SS.

Over time U and B manipulate the children into believing their mother is bad/doesn't want to see them. Contact stops.

As I said this is JMO but I've seen exactly this scenario with abusive ex partners of both sexes numerous times. We probably won't ever know as the UK family court records are sealed.

From the link above:

Evidence was also provided by Fatimah Choudhry, a learning support assistant at St Mary’s Primary School in Byfleet. She described an incident where she heard Beinash Batool shout abuse at two of Sara’s younger siblings, who were being slow while coming into school. Ms Choudhry made an entry into CPOMS (Child Protection Online Monitoring System) about this.

Ms Choudhry was cross examined by Beinash Batool’s barrister, Tomas McGarvey, who asked questions about the incident. Ms Choudhry confirmed she had spoken to the headteacher about the incident and on another occasion after her brother, Usman, a parent at the school, had mentioned concerns about Beinash Batool.

Ms Choudhry said that Beinash and Urfan had met with the headteacher, and both appeared upset when the language was raised.

Usman Choudhry recounted the incident of Beinash using “abusive language” when he gave his evidence. He said he had also seen Sara with bruises under her eye on one day.

During cross examination by Beinash Batool’s counsel, Tomas McGarvey, Mr Choudhry described Beinash’s behaviour as “more than a struggle, it was very aggressive behaviour”.
Sara was still seen at the school when Beinash dropped off her younger siblings but wasn’t seen when after the family moved house and took a taxi to travel to school.

Also from the Guilford Dragon news linked above.

court heard evidence from Rebecca Spencer, who lived in a flat above the Sharif family between 2018 and 2019 at their previous address in Eden Grove Road in Byfleet

The family, said Ms Spencer, usually dressed in Western-style clothing, and that they spoke English in the house. Ms Spencer moved out of her property in October 2020 and the property was rented by Chloe Redwin.

A warning was given by the judge after Ms Spencer was approached during a break whilst part
heard. Enquiries are ongoing to identify who approached her.

If the statements are being read into evidence then I think that means that the defence accepts their content.

An odontologist is someone who studies the structure and diseases of teeth, and may also use their knowledge to solve crimes and identify people, so perhaps the court will be hearing more about the bite marks.

"Chronicle of a Death Foretold"

:(

August 8 2023
8.38pm – A child sends a WhatsApp message to a school friend labelled “urgent”,
saying that Sara had
“just passed away”.

9.07pm – Beinash Batool, Sara’s stepmother, calls Southall Travel agency to ask about flights to Pakistan but after 50 minutes the call ends without flights being arranged.

10pm – Sharif contacts Nadeem Riaz, who works for a money transfer business, and says he needs a flight to Pakistan the next day.

August 9 2023
9.25am – CCTV captures Sharif and his family arriving at Heathrow Airport to take a flight to Pakistan at 2pm.

So frantic to leave a sinking ship.
To leave the body of a dead child in an empty house.
My Goodness!
What an example to a teen-aged son.
What role models did he have?
Younger girls might not have realized what was happening.
But Sara's brother knew :(

Sara Sharif murder trial:

Scream ‘in pain’

alarmed neighbour

two days before girl, 10, died, court hears

:(

A neighbour:
"In the five days before police attended
I did not see the family at all
which is unusual.”
.......
A dental expert found “probable human bites”
to Sara’s left forearm and inner left leg,
with Sharif and Malik excluded as the possible biters.

In addition,
there was a burn on Sara’s buttock likely inflicted intentionally with a “domestic iron”,
scalding to both feet,
and signs of restraint with bindings,
the court heard.
......

The Old Bailey trial was adjourned until 2pm on Monday.

More in the links from today:

Aren't they mandated reporters and shouldn't they call protective services immediately?
Sorry, I have no idea. That may depend on education authority or country. But where I quoted it sounded as if the teacher said something within the school or education system and it was up to somebody in a higher position or working in a different capacity to more forward with it. MOO

All staff in Schools must have undertaken recent safeguarding training.

Schools must also appoint a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): a senior staff member who has overall responsibility for child protection issues. The DSL must have refresher training every two years.

If a member of staff is concerned they would speak to the DSL who then would investigate further and report it to outside agencies.

We have not heard any official details why Olga lost custody of the children but I would be extremely surprised to hear it was instantly after the incident of her being smacked for showing her bottom.
RSBMFF
Just yesterday I was trying to find the source for the smacking incident, because I do remember reading about it. What I also remember reading is that Sara told her father about the smacking incident and it seemed that in at least Olga's recollection that's when she lost custody or partial custody or whatever she had exactly. Maybe the father 'appears' a better person or a more competent parent or something?? Please note, I say 'appears'. Maybe he's good at manipulating and getting what he wants or thinks he deserves. There are people like that. MOO. Quite possibly he didn't actually care that Sara had been smacked by Olga so much as that he didn't want her showing her bottom to boys. IMO a child doing that is not like a teen or adult doing it. Not the best idea for various reasons even a bit dangerous/risky with the wrong people around but not offensive. Should be corrected, explained to a child, but not something so grievous that she needed to be removed from Olga's custody for. MOO. I do realise different people even among western countries will have differing opinions on that.

For the father it might have seemed horrendous though (despite his own smoking and gambling and other bad habits of that sort). Or he could have been trying to get full custody of Sara and her older brother already anyway and this seemed a handy excuse to take to SS. MOO. I don't think anybody really knows any of that yet for sure, not been reported.

To me, seemed better than the Daily Mail.
As far as information goes that wouldn't be hard tbh. In the UK, the Daily Mail is referred to as the Daily Fail. DM is permitted on WS, maybe partially because they have good pictures and maps/layouts of buildings were crime (allegedly) took place and that kind of thing, but they can be a bit ehm sloppy with their reporting. On WS I do read links to the DM but I also check Guardian or BBC for same content. MOO
