"When she moved from the property,
she warned the incoming tenant that they were a 'nightmare' family with the noise".

I know hindsight is the clearest sight, but this is horrifying, that her greatest concern was noisy neighbours. Given the nature of noise she was hearing. So sad.

In fact, I hope the fact that the neighbours didn't report it is not used as a defence - as in 'it can't have been that bad, the neighbours didn't report what they heard'

It was the beginning of nightmare for Sara,
who was only 6 then.
It was the neighbour from the previous accommodation.

But the violence escalated with time.
Perps seemingly felt emboldened when no notice was taken.
It was exactly the right time to intervene.
But...
as we read, it didn't happen.

And we all know
how it ended :(

Neighbour insists she heard stepmother using profanities

When questioned by Beinash Batool’s lawyer,
Rebecca S. repeated that she had heard the stepmother shouting and screaming at the flat in West Byfleet.

She insisted that she had heard profanities being used, despite
Caroline Carberry KC
pointing out that she had not mentioned the use of the word
"f....” in her police statement.

Ms S.told the Old Bailey:
“There’s a right and a wrong way to speak to children,
and that wasn’t the right way.”

Wow!
Defence lawyer for B. appeared!

Neighbour heard distressed screaming from young female

Giving evidence at the Old Bailey, Chloe R.,
who moved into Rebecca S’s flat in West Byfleet and lived above the family,
said that she had heard consistent screaming from a young female.

Asked if she could hear shouting, she said:
“Often you would hear shut the f... up.
You would hear shut the f... up you b....rd
and shut up you c...s.”

She also heard Beinash Batool shouting “go to your room”,
and that a distressed screaming would often resume from 4pm onwards.

"The tone was very loud,
in my opinion it was very aggressive,
and I don’t know if I’m explaining it correctly,
it was almost forceful.
She had a determination behind what she was saying”
she said.

Ms R. said
that Batool was often at the property as a ‘stay home mum’
while Urfan Sharif worked as a taxi driver.

Trying to find a mention of pelvic injury before my post above gets legs.
So far come across some injuries or description thereof which I don't remember e.g. "Pathologist Dr Nathaniel Cary, who conducted the post-mortem, told the court Sara had a ... as well as signs of being hit by an elongated object below her belly button." Apart from causing internal injuries, that could presumably shatter pelvic bones?
from Sara Sharif: Girl, 10, had more than 70 injuries, court hears

In multiple reports, there is mention of spine injuries in 11 places, tho the exact place isn't mentioned, so we can't conclude that Sara's pelvic area was shattered. MOO IMO JMO Especially since I haven't found any msm mention of pelvic injuries (or for that matter non-msm). @su5ie you wondered about pelvic injuries due to possible sexual abuse, not due to physical. Anyway, that's what my search brought up.
Thank you very much for looking into this . You are right we don't want our posts to grow legs . I had most probably read the same article you mention about the injury below belly button and presumed it was pelvic area.

I suppose when you look at the torture and abuse inflicted on Sara imo there doesn't appear to be any part of her person that wasn't injured and the bite was given to inflict pain and the placement of it didn't really matter to the perpetrator as long as it caused damage

Hi Dotta , I'm beginning to fear the blame will be put on the step mother solely . From the evidence so far it only seems to be that the screaming and violence happened when batool was alone at home .

I certainly don't believe batool is anything but a guilty party .I just hope she is not scapegoated and the two males escape justice because in my mind I don't think batool carried the violence out alone . No one seems to be fingerpointing the father in court evidence so far .

Do you or does anyone else think the step mother acted Alone ?

I presume since both men have been accused of murder ,more evidence will emerge which indicates their involvement. We have already heard that both men's dna was found on a belt .

And DNA on the home-made hoods too, if I remember correctly

I am new to this case. Why did she live with the dad? Where was the mom?

This is just a horrific case. That poor girl. I hope her abusers are put in prison for the rest of their lives, but considering English track record for for other horrific murders, I have my doubts.

Interesting that the father left the dock in tears whilst the neighbour's evidence about hearing loud smacking and screaming was heard.

It gives me vibes of poor Arthur L-H.

But I'm not suggesting the father is innocent.

Sara Sharif’s father walks out in tears as neighbour recalls ‘smacking' at flat

The court has briefly taken a break after Urfan Sharif,
Sara’s father, broke down in tears and walked out of the dock.

It came as a second neighbour told the court that she had frequently heard a “smacking” noise followed by a scream when Beinash Batool was at the property.

Chloe R.,
who lived above the family, said:
“I heard what I believe to be smacking.
I would say it was a person smacking another person.
It was loud.
A smack followed by a scream and being told to go to your room.”

She also recalled that on the occasional weekend Sharif was home and not working over the weekend,
he would play with the children outside and was seen on a picnic rug with ice lollies.

However,
she said that Batool would remain inside and shout out an occasional “command” to Sara.

I think they all participated.

I do wonder though, if this started as a... strategy of sorts. We know from Sara's mother that Urfan was prone to significant domestic violence. Scapegoating Sara, blaming her for anything that set him off could have redirected his rage and physical abuse away from Bartool and her young children.

I hope I don't have to say that's not excusing Bartool of anything. Even if true, Sara was a helpless child. Such a reason would be completely indefensible. I also think, whether or not Bartool was telling her sister the truth back then, she began to take out the stress of her situation on Sara. Inflicting horrific emotional/physical abuse all through the day when she was the lone carer. They should all rot in jail.

Stepmother said Sara ‘wanted to follow her religion’ with hijab

Chloe R. has told jurors that she noticed Sara Sharif had begun wearing a hijab around January 2023,
shortly before the family left the flat and moved to Woking.

She added she had never seen it before and that no other female family members had been seen to wear one.

When she complimented the headscarf to Beinash Batool, she told jurors that the conversation had been
“shut down in quite an aggressive way”.

She recalled that Batool had responded:
“She has decided to wear one,
she wants to follow her religion”.

The prosecution are claiming that the hijab was used to cover the extent of Sara’s injuries in the months before her death.

Something new:

"Batool remained emotionless,
occasionally shaking her head as the witness described her alleged foul mouthed tirades.

As court proceedings resumed, Ms R. said there were
'two different types of screaming'
coming from the property.

In the evening she would hear a
'more distressed scream'.

Ms R. had to change her son's room
'because of the noise',
jurors heard.

She told how her son was a similar age to Sara and they would often play together.

'Sara would always be in charge of looking after the children outside
and if one would start crying she would shout out of the window telling Sara to look after them',
she said.

'Like a command - and it was loud'.

Detailing the chores Sara performed,
Ms R. said:
'She would hang out the clothes to dry.
Before school she would take out the rubbish'.

'She was the only person I saw taking out the household rubbish.
After school she went straight to the back garden to get the laundry'.

Ms R., who often shared a cigarette with Urfan,
said he was less aggressive.

He told her Sara
'had been learning about the Muslim faith
and she is very interested in this and she wanted to explore and learn more'."

Dotta I really fear that the two men will get a very light sentence and escape real justice. I feel urfan was more cunning covering his tracks and batool was more obvious with the screaming and shouting .
It is often a scenario played out in an abusive relationship whereby the main abuser is more sly
I don't feel all this abuse could have happened without urfan knowing the full extent of Sara's injuries.
