Det Supt Chapman told the BBC: 'Surrey Police's contact with the family has been on a limited basis. It's been on a historic basis. He said police interaction with the schoolgirl's family 'goes back some years' but declined to expand on his comment

Surrey Council revealed Sara was known to them before her death.
A spokeswoman said: 'We can confirm Sara Sharif was known to Surrey County Council but we cannot comment further while the Surrey Safeguarding Children Partnership's thorough review process is ongoing.'

Surrey County Council has said they are 'working tirelessly' to fully understand the consequences that led to Sara's death .....

Police have not referred themselves to the IOPC, saying their knowledge of the family was 'historic' and that the case did not meet the threshold to do so.

This is a very useful article for anyone who hasnt followed this case from the beginning.

Sara's Polish uncle revealed how Sharif was a gambler and claimed he is prone to violence - with police often called to the family home in Woking, Surrey, when Sara lived with her real mum Olga.

He even claimed how former taxi driver Sharif even chillingly once told Olga during a custody battle after they divorced over their two children to 'stop complaining or she would be found dead somewhere'.

'At the beginning Urfan was very charming but he was an actor, he deceived us all. Urfan was a gambler, he was addicted. He used to borrow money for gambling machines.

'His behaviour led to conflict and then physical and psychological violence. Police were called many times. There was an incident when Urfan locked Olga and the kids in a room with no food or water for many hours. Olga called us asking for help but Urfan heard the conversation, took the phone away and beat Olga.

more at the link ..............

And yet custody of Sara and her brother was awarded to urfan I don't get that . Unless through extreme fear olga surrendered custody on the promise she would always have access .

Is it live?

"Sara Sharif
'never smiled once'
in the months before she was allegedly murdered by three members of her family,
a neighbour has told jurors.

:(

On Thursday,
Judith L. told jurors
the Sharif family had moved next door to her home in Woking, Surrey,
in April last year.

On how Sara seemed to her, Mrs L. said:

'Never was she smiling when I saw her,
not one time.

I was told she was bullied at school for wearing a hijab
and she was being home schooled because of that.

Every single time I saw her she wore a hijab –
she was the only member of the family who wore that'.

Because Sara’s forehead and part of her face was covered up, Mrs L. could not see how she looked, jurors heard.

The witness said she was 'completely astonished'
at the difference when she was later shown an older picture of Sara without the head covering.

Mrs L. would often see and chat with members of the family in the adjoining garden and they were
'always very nicely dressed' and 'quite smart',
the court heard.

However,
she did not see Sara as much as the other family members.

She said:
'Sometimes she was pegging out washing in the back garden'."

"The neighbour last saw Sara on July 23 2023
when the family held a birthday party in the garden.

Mrs L. said is was a
'really lovely summer’s day'
and Sara sat in a garden chair with a baby,
accompanied by two aunts.

Prosecutor Ben Lloyd asked about her impressions of how Sara was treated within the family.

She replied:
'I thought it strange… that she didn’t mix more with the whole family.
I thought that it was odd'.

She told jurors that she felt 'some separateness'
which she did not understand."

"Caroline Carberry KC suggested that taxi driver Sharif would
'belittle' his wife.

Mrs L. agreed,
saying that on one occasion her husband had tackled Sharif about it.

She told jurors:
'He said ‘I don’t think you should speak like that’
and and he never did again, ever, not in that way.
I thought it was fantastic'.

The witness told jurors that she saw Sharif’s brother Malik 'fairly often' at the house
and understood
he was reading business studies at Portsmouth University."

What a good source of info!

I've just read this article a few interesting new facts including that the uncle was home often and that it seems urfan also subjected beamish to abuse too so prehaps my fear is quelled now of urfan recieving sympathy from the jury because of his tears in the Dock

Wow!
The name of Defence lawyer for U!

From yesterday:

"On Wednesday,
former neighbour Chloe R.
described conversations with Batool and Sharif when she first noticed Sara wearing a hijab.

She told jurors:
'I saw her wear a hijab in January 2023.

I had a conversation with the mother and father of the household. It wasn’t a really deep conversation.

I made a comment to the mother,
‘oh doesn’t she look nice in her headscarf, when did she start wearing one?’

The conversation was shut down. She said
‘she decided to wear one, she wants to follow her religion’.

Ms R. said Sharif told her that his daughter was 'learning about the Muslim faith' and that she was 'very interested in this and that she wanted to explore and learn more'.

Prosecutor William Emlyn Jones KC said:
'You never spoke to Sara about that did you?'

The witness, who gave evidence by video link, confirmed that she did not.

Cross-examining,
Sharif’s barrister Naeem Mian KC
asked about the couple’s demeanour when they discussed Sara’s hijab.

Ms R. said:
'The way the mother spoke to me was very abrupt,
almost as if she wanted the conversation to end'.”

So now we know the whole Defence Team.

The money is coming from somewhere if he is the defence lawyer .I wonder where .he is hardly doing free legal aid. He seems to defend a lot of terrorists imo . I read one of his cases the snap chat killer he actually got that person off even though the killer recorded the killing WTF . I swear if any of the perpetrators in this case walk away without serving a long sentence I will be fit to be tied down . SARA deserves justice to be served . That <modsnip> father deserves no freedom whatsoever imo

I guess
all these Award - Winning Defence Barristers will concentrate on sinking other 2 defendants,
defending their clients.

Just saying...

She said she was told by Urfan that Malik didn't live in the house but she believed he did as she saw him often.

Mrs Lozeron said she made a special effort to welcome the family and they were friendly and neighbourly in return and said she never heard any particularly loud noises coming from the house.

But Mrs Lozeron said she sometimes heard Urfan speaking very loudly to Batool in the back garden and that the conversations would get 'heated'.

She said she sometimes did not like the way he spoke about his wife and thought he spoke about her in a 'belittling' way.

The neighbour agreed when asked if Urfan presented himself as a 'a good hardworking father' and he could be 'quite charming'.

But on one occasion she saw Urfan belittle Batool and said: 'I was shocked to see the resignation or expressionlessness on her face.

'I was watching her when he was sounding off and I was shocked by that expression on her face, which was expressionless, but almost frighteningly so to me.

'And then I wondered does he do that often inside the house? Is that something she's used to?'

So far it seems that the defence for the uncle is he saw or heard nothing and didn't participate in the beatings , The fathers defence is he was out working and although verbally abusive to beamish was never heard to shout at sara and an all round polite neighbour and good man [sic] pass me the bucket while I vomit . As for biemish it would appear she is maleficent from snow white made reality an evil step mother whom not only killed and tortured Sara but cunning enough to manage to keep her husband and brother in law in the dark and none the wiser . Two men who are victims of her cruelty. Oblivious and taken in by her charms . Martyrs !!! God I need to scream into a pillow right now

Have Faith in Justice.
I do.
And I don't worry about the outcome of this horrific vile case.
I believe in wisdom of Jurors.
They are just common people,
like you and me.

I must look up the ages of the defendants and when bienash and urfan met . Was bienash a teen when she met him I wonder... beinash is 29 ,urfan is 41 so 12 year gap I think there youngest child at the time of Sara's death was 5 years old and they had 4 kids together so I imagine beinash met him when she was just a teen .

"Another witness,
Usman C.,
told jurors that he had seen Sara with bruises on her face when he dropped his child at school before April 2023.

He said:
'One day I was dropping my son at his school and I saw Sara there.
She had bruises on her face, under her eye'.

Mr C. said
Sara was wearing a headscarf but rather than just covering her hair as would be the norm, it was worn
'very low, almost covering her forehead'.
:(

He also told jurors that he had witnessed her stepmother swearing at other children using Punjabi words for “motherf...r, sister f...er, b... and wh...e”.

His sister Fatima C.
who worked at the school and is from Pakistan,
told jurors
that she had made an entry in the school computer system
after hearing Batool swear in Punjabi and Urdu."

I am finding it difficult to see Beinash as a downtrodden wife . I suspect she could give as good as she got.
