"Sara Sharif's stepmother sent her sister some pictures of the 10-year-old looking bruised and miserable - and
told her to 'delete' them,
a court has heard.

'Look what he's doing',
Beinash Batool told Qandeela S.
referring to the beatings Sara was allegedly getting from her father, Urfan Sharif.

'Delete the pictures'.

Message about Sara:

'She ripped Urfan's documents in front of him and was being rude and rebellious'.

Referring to an image of Sara in a hijab,
Batool wrote:
'You haven't even seen her body,
it's a whole lot worse'.

Two months before Sara died,
Batool referred to
'Sara's antics', telling her sister:
'Urfan beat the crap out of Sara...
Yeah, he beat her up like crazy'."

:(

For little Sara
Home wasn't a safe place
as it should be.

IIRC,I have not posted on this case. But given the recent postings about what the alleged stepmother texted and her inactions. Research has shown that in abusive families there are instances where the victim was singled out and became the object of the abuse. Why this woman or her sister did not move to save this child may be related to their own discipline history and a basic thought process that included that they had lived through it and Sara would as well. I would also posit that there were a set of twin girls who would soon possibly become the ire of the alleged father's abuse AND this mother knew that she had to keep Sara as the object rather than her biological children becoming the targets.

Do not get me wrong--- all three of these people should never experience a breath of freedom for the rest of their lives. I do think the complexities of how this occurred go beyond a single abusive parent. This family system was rife bad actors. Rather than releasing this girl to her biological mother, the bio father was going to annihilate any relationship Sara and her brother could with their mother. And, further, Sara was a female who looked like her mother and "behaved" like a bad child, so she was going to be the object of his ire.

Yes. Bienash didn't mention hoods being put on Sara's head in the messages to her sister/sisters I don't think. But she does mention the low oxygen level.

I think the messages are quite selective in content. Lots of references to Sara being beaten. But we know that's not all that happened to her.

These "selective messages" might turn out to be her downfall.

I guess
U's Defense KC Barrister is waiting to pounce.

Oh well...

I saw the video on BBC News of the Batool, Sharif and Malik at Heathrow airport leaving UK....where are the kids?! There should be a 13yr old boy and 4 other kids. There is a block to hide one ofthe passengers (I presume the 13yr old boy) The car is a 5 seater.

With adults there would be 8 persons getting to the airport....

Was there another car with the remaining kids?

I'm surprised none of the younger kids told a teacher or friend out of innocence. Kids will tell adults things almost as an off the cuff remark. Even going through the airport I'm surprised the the 5 year old said nothing such as my sister is dead to a worker or friendly stranger .
The cctv footage really highlights how Sara was a target to me as the rest of the kids look healthy and carefree .
In the photo of urfan and malik in the bmw ( not a cheap model either ) I was thinking did bienash drive the kids and herself in another car ? Bit of a squash to have 8 people, baby seat ,baby buggy ,luggage ( urfan has about 4/5 cases on the trolley that I can see and 3 of those at least appear to be large suitcases. No mention of another car been driven to airport in msm

I see 1 car.
U & uncle at the front.
B & kids at the back of the car.
B is sitting behind U.

In the airport cctv
Big brother is holding hands with the twins.
B follows with a pram and a younger girl.

I thought they called a taxi to the airport.
But U was the driver in the car.

Beinash is in the car- in the BBC report you can see her in the passenger seat behind the driver.
My understanding from the news reports is that the car is a BMW X5 which I believe has a 7 seater version. However, the 3 adults are on trial for murder and knowingly left their dead daughter/stepdaughter/niece to flee the country so I think the legalities of how many people are allowed in the car or whether it’s a squash are not going to be of any importance whatsoever to them.

I thought Batool is on the back seat (behind the driver). So Sharif is driving, Malik is beside him in the front passenger seat, Batool and presumably the 13yr old boy is in back seat...4 other kids are not there...

I agree Su5ie, where are all the stuff for the kids (most of them being of a under the age of 8yrs)?

The children are currently being housed at a facility run by Pakistan's Child Protection Bureau based in Lahore. They are not living with the relatives. So why is Pakistani Govt holding on to the kids when they are legally the children of the State in UK?

No,
The children are living with grandfather according to link upthread.

Oh,
another link from yesterday

"Batool had described Sharif as a 'psycho'.

On 21 December 2020, Batool told S.
that Sharif would 'regret' it
if Sara revealed he 'hits her like crazy and all the bruises' before adding:
'I literally have to push Urfan out the way and save Sara'.

Batool wrote:
'Urfan is going crazy beating Sara up.
I’m kind of having a panic attack ….
I have no idea what to do … I’m in the other room,
he’s locked us out,
he’s not opening the door'.

On 10 February 2022,
she said
Sharif had beaten Sara at 1.30am in the morning when the girl was asleep
'because of the bad behaviour she was doing for a while,
he randomly got angry'."

I don't understand this aspect either they are British citizens
This sounds awful but prehaps the cost of bringing them back ?? or maybe it would be deemed as further upset in an already traumatising situation and just leaving them be until the trial is over is seen as more appropriate.

I would imagine olga will be fighting to regain full custody of her son when the trial is over as she already has partial custodian rights such as visitation and access which was stopped by urfan not the courts . I suppose the courts will take in to consideration at that time olgas mental state and parental fitness

Bienash's messages remind me of logans mother excusing the abuse by saying the child was naughty also the similarly narcissistic pleas of how will I cope , thinking about themselves and their emotional state when an innocent child is in more danger than they will ever be in
Even the plea of He has locked us out , No bienash he has locked Sara in

Bienash's account is strange. I don't buy it at all. Once again I find her messages odd...more like a way of absolving herself from blame than anything else. It may be the reporting but there seems to be little emotion from her. I don't detect fear, anguish, worry, sadness in her messages. Then she implies Sara is not right mentally. And her account of Sara's actions and reasons for being punished...a young child hiding keys and cutting up clothes? When the repercussions of such actions are so severe?
Absolutely! Beinash covering her own back. If Sara was not right mentally then the trio are to blame. I should imagine the hood depriving of oxygen would contribute. Quite apart from the mental trauma.
It just crossed my mind would she be hiding her father’s keys in a bid to stop him leaving as the beatings were at their worst whilst he was out? Jmo

Him locking out others is exactly what Olga said.

He once locked her and the kids in a room for many hours without food&drink and Olga phoned her brother.

I doubt Sara did any of the things mentioned in the messages. Why would she if the punishments were so severe?

I'm still reminded of the Arthur L-H case. Poor Arthur was accused of all sorts of bad behaviour by his Step Mother, who lied constantly so he would be punished.

I assume the courts must have not believed what Olga said about Urfan's abuse for them to award him custody. Hopefully they will now realise how wrong they were.

  • #579
I'm not knowledgeable about court processes. Is there a prosecution lawyer speaking against each suspect in turn and then a defence lawyer speaking on behalf of each suspect?
Who is speaking about Beinash's WhatsApp messages to her sister about what he did at the moment?

Prosecutor.

(According to a link I sent.)

"On Thursday,
William Emlyn Jones KC, prosecuting,
read out a series of WhatsApp messages between Batool and her sister S.
from 2019 to 2023,
which the court was told detailed the alleged abuse."
